Anyone looking forward to the Missile Command movie? I hope they don't stray to far from the original storyline.

Street Racer is the game I hated the most. The box art looked so cool, even the name was pretty snazzy, but then the game looked and played like crap. On the other hand at my house Slot Racers got some serious play time. It is a great two player game.

Sears Heavy sixer any day, any time. Is it the same as the Atari? Well, no it isn't because I grew up with the Sears sixer... so there!

In the old days we didn't have digital tuners in our tvs or vcrs and it was fairly common at my house to use the analog adjusters to clean up the Atari signal. New TVs have digital "hands free" tuners. I will run the channel scan on my new TV to detect the Atari signal. About 80 percent of the time this does the trick and the picture is ghost and grain free. It is possible to use a hex tool and fine tune the Atari using the coil on the motherboard but more often than not you have to keep retuning everytime you hook the Atari back up.

Computer space (Bushnell/Nutting version)
rexreed replied to carmel_andrews's topic in Arcade and Pinball
Here's a neat story about a mans quest to find Computer Space. http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/entertainment/games/090827_oldest_video_game Hi there, I'm not 100% certain I understand your question but I have a whole website devoted to Computer Space. Maybe some of your questions can be found there? www.computerspacefan.com I don't know about the one Steve Bristow had though, sorry about that. -
Atari 2600 is horrible to collect for in the wild!
rexreed replied to homerwannabee's topic in Atari 2600
I've noticed the diminishing supply of classic Atari in the wild over the past few years. There was a time in Austin where you could go to the Goodwill Computer Store and they had a whole section for legacy systems. This included the 2600 and the 8-bit. They stopped offering the section at the original location and told me it would reappear at their new location...that never happened. I'm sure legacy systems still get donated, they just aren't showing up on the sales floor anymore. That being said, the game shop I've been going to for 8 years just yielded a fine crop of 2600 games! I got Beamrider, Cracpots, Up n Down and Tapper for 3 dollars each. The owner threw in a free copy of Pele's Soccer (I never got that one!) and for that I will drive FIVE hours just to peruse his stock another year! -
I couldn't agree more. Having the consoles there reminded me that emulation doesn't really deliver the same feel as sitting in front of a blurry TV with the period controls. I hope Keith and gang expand this section in 2009. I didn't even think about archon!!! I could sit there playing archon 2 the entire day. I don't like archon 1 as much since folks thend to not get off their black / white squares. Fuzzy TV? Not at Arcade Expo. Albert brought units modded with composite outputs- it was the clearest I've ever seen.

The lead singer of Stryper sells Jag games? COOOL!

NW Houston- all Atari!

Must be the different Jaguar models. i don't think they made different series of the game and it runs flawless on my Jag. I used to have two jags. One I still own and runs fine. The other never would play ANY game that used a 3d polygon. Any of the 2d games were fine. I ended up giving that one away in college...

"Here in southeast texas we only have 1 shop that sells atari games and they got all of them from me. I traded them in hoping others would see them and trade theirs in but no such luck. They did get a bunch of intelli games a while back but I don't collect those. " What part of Southeast Texas? Houston area? Anyhow I go to Baton Rouge, LA a couple times a year and always visit Videogame Exchange. They have a decent 2600 supply (system, controllers, common and scarce games) all reasonable. From $2 on up. I picked up a blue label Shark Attack and 7800 Rampage for $3 each last weekend. They have some boxed games too! Oddyssey 2, Coleco, Lynx,8 bit, nearly everything.

Surround was OK, but Snafu on Intellivision kicked some serious butt!. Part of it was the music, and the 2 computer AI mode. I'd like to see Snafu on the 2600!

Austin TX Goodwill computer store: Korean Super Famicom
rexreed replied to Bruce Tomlin's topic in Auction Central
The Austin Goodwill Computer store really chapped my hide a few years ago. They were about to move into their new location and had half of the prior location "off linits.' to customers. They had a large bin, about 5 X 5' full of classic games and computer surplus. They would not sell it claiming it would be available after they moved. Well they ended up moving 5 months later and there was no classic computer section like they had in the old location. So basicly I hate them now. -
I've used a website called www.mobile17.com to send ringtones for free to my phone. My current phone can accept the midi tones or just about any sound file. You upload to the site and then the site sends a message to your phone. Pole position and Galaga are on the phone right now.

Awesome album! There's not a single dud on the track list. Matter of fact, just about every song was played on the radio. The game? It s alright. It even plays Don't Stop Believing...well sort of!

Count me in as a potential A2 buyer:)

I know a really good site for schematics and such...THIS ONE! Seriously all you need to know as a casual Atari repairman can be found at Atariage. If you need parts try best electronics. (not Best Buy)

I bought two and they still work. 2 months so far.

Check out you tube, I saw a demo of the game being played a couple days ago.
