I have all 3 videos. Lmk if you'd like a copy of them.

That's an old trick that was first mentioned in an issue of Atari Age.

Scott, I admire your work, but if what Curt says is true -- please stop jabbing for no reason. If it's not true, then I'm sorry. I'm sorry to everyone, okay? It's all my fault. Does that make it better?CF
Thanks for the compliments, Chris. As for my personal feelings towards Vendle, that's best left unsaid. My opinion on the auction (which is the only thing my posts are pertaining to) remain unchanged. I'll restate this again- I don't care who's auction it is (yours, Matt's, Jeff's...) I think the auction terms are flat-out wrong. All I wanted was an explanation for them. I don't feel that was an unwarranted request, but apparently he does since his only replies are personal attacks against me. His attitude is "How dare I question the 'great and powerful Oz'" Well, his posts speak for themself, don't they? I tried to have an intelligent discussion about this with him, but it's impossible as he keeps avoiding the subject. I'm done with this thread.

Tempest: I'd hate to see you leave the hobby b/c of this thread, or especially over something I said. The fact that we don't agree about this doesn't change the fact I still consider you a friend, either. Why would it? I'd like to think most of us here are beyond the 'grade school' mentality. I know I am.
Vendel: I'm not talking about the word "moot", I'm talking about the word "noone" that you frequently use. I'd like to know the definition of it, but I doubt I'll have that question answered either...
*braces self for more well-crafted linguistic attacks*

-
Vendel: the point is moot now, since it's easier for you to just attack me then simply answer my questions, as usual. So be it. I won't lower myself to that level (btw, "noone" isn't a word in any language I know of...).
-
Well since it's already been dumped this argument is a moot point isn't it?No, b/c he only changed the auction after this thread started. It's not about him making $ off of it, it was his underlying alterior motives.
.. but taking every oppertunity to get in a jab at Curt whenever you can and hiding it behind something else is low.Every opportunity? It was a ridiculously-worded auction, and my questions pertaining to it are legitimate. My opinion would still be the same, no matter who's name was on it. Perhaps your close friendship with Curt is clouding the fact that he made a mistake in how he set up this auction.

A wee bit jealous aren't we? The rom is going to be released so what's the problem if it doesn't happen right this minute? We've lived without it for all these years, a few more days isn't going to hurt. And what's wrong with Curt trying to make a little money off this? Do we all have to be paupers so everyone can have everything for free? The community will get to play the game for free anyway, what do you care? And we all know the real reasons behind YOUR comments don't we...
Tempest
Tempest: I thought the reasons for my comments were quite clear, but I'll restate them again just for you
I'm not jealous of anything here, I'm simply pointing out the absurdity of the terms being imposed on the buyer. I'm glad the community will get to share the game, but what if the seller didn't have the means to dump the ROM, and the buyer refused to release it? It would pretty much suck to be us then, wouldn't it? That's why I care.Vendel: you conveniently avoided answering my questions. Why dictate that the new owner release the ROM if you're going to release it anyway? It doesn't make any sense. And how would you enforce the terms of the auction if the buyer decided not to follow through? Get them banned from Ebay? Publicly bash them? Threaten to sue them?
-
I think the terms of the auction are ludicrous to begin with, but even more so in light of the fact that the ROM will be released anyway. How can you expect to charge someone $1K and then dictate what they can or can't do with it?? And how exactly will the terms be enforced if the new owner doesn't comply? If the seller was that concerned about seeing the ROM shared with the community, he would have released it already. It's obvious what his true intentions are.

Stan, what pattern did you use?

The Turbo flyer, along with a few others, are on the Atari Gaming Headquarters site:

Trying to find all the clues in EW and FW is practically impossible. Seriously - has anyone sat down and figured out what the odds are of finding the right combinations for each clue? We're talking lottery odds here....

I did some work on trying to modify this. I first made the cars smaller. Then I tried to change the track layouts. I soon found that the graphics for the different tracks are not seperate, but are "reused" in different areas. So far I've managed to make the Devil's Elbow track a bit different. Here's the bin version I have so far.

Al: the pic came from EG - I don't remember what issue. I think out of the 3 times it appeared, this was the only one of the 3 that wasn't cropped.
Nukay: this probably isn't a real screenshot, but I wouldn't be surprised to see that if the proto ever surfaces, it will look very similar to this picture (in other words, the drawing was based off the actual game). It's happened before many times...
As for the building graphics - the 2600 has some sort of "sprite doubling" feature built-in, doesn't it? Perhaps that's how the buildings are being displayed.

I don't remember what issue the EG review was in, but I remember the screenshot was shown in at least 3 different issues. Here's a pic of it:

Dan Skelton did a similar picture years ago, for the 2600 Connection as a contest, to see who could name all the games that the images were taken from (see issues 34 and 35).

Go to http://khryssun.cjb.net/ and check out the "old" news. Also do a search of the message board for more info.

Sure, but I bet you didn't know the ducks were actually dragons!

I just made a couple simple hacks of the sword graphics, to make it look less like an arrow and more like a sword (they look like the swords from Swordquest, so I guess it's an improvement). You can d/l the 2 versions here:
Btw, the Swordquest Archive of Adventure seems to be down again

Would you mind sending me a copy of your Adventure hack, Nukey?

Yes you can. How else could I have mapped out all the levels?
-
Anyone have this? Supposedly the title screen is different (?)

FYI - there's a few anagram generators online. Just put in 'anagram generator' in a search engine.

I can't claim my list as being the most complete of anyone's, but I think you'll have a hard time finding another that is (that just covers classic games). The section first went up a year and a half ago, and I've been regularly updating it since (once a month on average); last September I added a section that details what changes are made with each update - on the bottom of the main page, click on the last link ("...updates to this section").
The 2600 section is by far the most active (I already have another 2 dozen entries ready for the next update), but I'm also working on major revisions to the Atari 8-bit, 5200, and arcade sections. I like to wait until I have enough entries to warrant an update, otherwise I'll be driving Joe nuts
As stated on the main page, if there's anything that's missing from the list, please let me know and I'll add it (after verifying it). As for the Pele's glitch you mentioned, it's already listed

Are there any tanks in River Raid?

Nice work, Thomas!
Question- what do you define as a "level"? And is it true that the river will eventually start to repeat (or is it truly "endless")?
