Didn't one sell on Ebay a few years ago for about $1K?
-
It's been long rumored that Atari planned a version for the 2600, even with a CX# of 26156 (which later turned out to be for Combat Two). I don't think a version is that out of the question.

[from Joystik mag, April 83] Besides developing a modified VCS for handicapped players, they also made multi-carts, and a portable VCS with a built-in TV! Wonder how many were made, and if any still exist today.

Ultimate programming challenge? True 3-D games
Scott Stilphen replied to Scott Stilphen's topic in Atari 2600
Are you sure about it not using glasses? I'd swear that I remember 12-packs having glasses... -
Temp: I have a couple protos like that. The board itself is a real Atari 8K board, but the EPROMS aren't labeled- they may be copies, or originals w/o the labels. Impossible to tell, unless Atari used a specific brand of EPROMS with all their protos (did they?). I put some labels on the chips to protect them from possible erasure, as well as the small 'name tag' label on the front (I didn't want to write on the label itself).

Ultimate programming challenge? True 3-D games

Moycon: Thanks for that link. Did Jaws 3-D used polarized glasses? What about that Coke commercial- I'm almost positive it didn't use the red/blue method, and that article says that polarization method won't work with TV's... Since the red/blue method doesn't work with color, I'm curious as to how Amiga's system was going to work, since the screenshots of their 3D games were in full color Btw, the 3D in Robot Monster is terrible (to the point of almost no 3D effect) -
2600 programming unit - ever see one of these?
Scott Stilphen replied to Scott Stilphen's topic in Atari 2600
It's from the December 83 issue of Joystick. There was also a news article in EG around the same time. -
Thanks. Looks like I'll have to upgrade my graphics software
-
I've finished the game, and it doesn't appear then either. If it's in the game, it's probably hidden (as an Easter egg).

How do you 'superimpose' one picture over another? What software are you using?

Is there any way to get a true screenshot of games that use the 'venetian blinds' trick (Basic Programming, Stellar Track, etc.)?

Ultimate programming challenge? True 3-D games

Perhaps Amiga was concentrating on making the game backgrounds appear in 3D? Which would be much easier to program I would think... Adrian: some people can't "adapt" to using 3D glasses and such items as well as others, which has always been a problem with that effect. Anyone remember the 3D Coke commercial during the Superbowl (about 10 years ago)? They used similar cheap glasses, except they weren't red & blue. I don't remember how they worked, or if you can even get similar ones now, but maybe they'd be easier to use and program for? -
Having trouble with MESS (can't start any 5200 games, for some reason) so I can't verify this, but do the programmer's initials appear on the Mt. Fuji in the background?
-
Amiga was working on developing VCS games (the Power Play system) that used those cheap red and blue 3-D glasses (from the company's Summer 83 CES literature). I don't know how far in development they were, or if this was all just vaporware. I also recently learned (from a Jan 19, 1983 Wall Street Journal article) that Alan Miller (of Activision) spent about 2 months experimenting with this idea. Is such a technique possible with older systems like the VCS?

Stan: I have no leads as to where it might be, other than Rob Fulop himself said it was in there.

I couldn't find it using Romhack, and I'm offering a 'reward' in my Easter egg contest if anyone can uncover it.

Came across an article about Sky Skipper in Videogaming Illustrated, July 83 issue.
-
Turns out it's Cosmic Alien, by Universal (a really BAD Galaxian clone)
-
Another magazine mention - Video Games January 83, page 56. In an interview with Richard Sterns, he mentions that Nintendo decided not to produce Sky Skipper in the States, but PB decided to make the home cart anyway.
-
This is from the Sept/Oct 82 issue of Vidiot mag (page 21). Ok, Vidiot isn't the most accurate gaming publication, and the game shown clearly isn't Centuri's Pleiads/Pleiades, but...what game is it?

Get a parachute, and at least 4 bags of coins. Parachute into a mesa, stand on the dirt pile, and drop all the coins. The screen will blank out, and the game will be locked up! This one was discovered by Travis Sagert

One of the rarest Atari catalogs is the 1982 Rev. F. You can see cover scans of nearly every Atari catalog here.

Atari SwordQuest FireWorld Prototype
Scott Stilphen replied to SwordQuestTrilogyFreak's topic in Atari 2600
It's fairly conceivable that there's a Lab proto for every Atari game -
Can someone send me an emulator screenshot of this message? I can't get close to beating the computer, let alone score that many points
