Dragonstomper- what does the lantern do?
Scott Stilphen replied to Scott Stilphen's topic in Atari 2600
Thomas, it should be easy to see (by looking at the code) if it has any affect in the game though, right? -
FYI - you don't need to register to read the main DP Video Game forum.

That would make sense, but from what I remember it didn't work in that cave hallway. -
The Asteroids variant is on both versions of the SGANB CDs. On version 2 it's track 64, or look in the NTSC/Starpath/Prototype folder - it's Meteroid.bin. On version 1, I don't know what audio track it is (there's no listing in the manual and the CD cover only lists up to 59 - there's actually 63 tracks) but if you look in the NTSC folder, it's SUICID23.

Totally. Looks like he needs to double his area. He should think about finishing off his basement and putting everything down there, or start giving it away to collectors who are more serious about it

It should be an easy thing to change, but like you said, Berzerk w/o Evil Otto is like Pac-Man w/o the ghosts
-
I'd guess that it was done intentionally. If the (original) game sit idle long enough to go into the color cycling mode, the game will end at that instant. I'm 99% sure the color-cycling code doesn't inherently do that b/c there are a number of games can go into that mode w/o ending like that.

4-bit VCS? 16-bit INTV? Dude, just where are you getting your facts?

TEMPEST: Pal Sorcerers Apprentice is different!
Scott Stilphen replied to Mister VCS's topic in Atari 2600
Not all of them - look closely at the 2nd and 3rd screens -
He can't make Shooting Arcade carts either, even though he's still selling them (the game crashes after the 1st screen).

This bit in the ad blurb is preposterous, as far as a marketing ploys go: "...allowing for clearer graphics, brighter colors and more intense gameplay." I'm sure the 7800 hardware display output is sharper by nature, if you compared any 2600 game running on both the 2600 and 7800. I still don't see how "reshuffling" the bank-switching routines would affect the display in any way (meaningful or otherwise), but I know it certainly does not result in more intense gameplay. At $45 (!) each, I'll stick with playing them on a real 2600 (via a Cutle Cart).

Here's screen shots of the NTSC and PAL versions: -
Cool! What's the story with this find?

Holy Smokes! Planet of the Apes proto going for $1400+
Scott Stilphen replied to Atari2600Lives's topic in Atari 2600
That would be great if someone could dump it. I'm curious to see how (if) it's different. -
There's only 5 issues there. Btw, I'm in the middle of scanning in all of them, after which I'll be sending them to AA.

On the rooster ranch screen, if the pointer on the left side of the screen is at the top and you push up, the game crashes. Same if it's on the bottom (and you push down). I'm using a 2600 JR. Anyone else notice this problem?

It's a byte-rollover glitch. See my Easter egg page entry for VP (below)

That's funny b/c I got a different story from him. When he left Atari, someone else changed his Saboteur game to A-Team
-
FYI, there are a few errors on that list (ex. Warshaw didn't work on the A-Team variant of Saboteur, Domurat wasn't a programmer - just a graphics artist, Bushnell didn't program Secret Quest, etc..)
-
Yeah, use an emulator and slow it down 50% ! lol
-
Who discovered it? I'd like to add that info on my page.

The laser beams on the pac-man planets is absurdly fast. It comes down to pure chance that you can get past them.
