What you favorite early 90s doomed systam?
Towelie replied to Towelie's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Cant you change the contrast? I guess the Jaguar, maybe the 3do actually, isnt the Saturn a e90ds? If so, that. The saturn was a little bit more mainstrem and came out more in the late 90s then the early to mid. And it also would of made your choises to easy. -
Amiga cd32 Sega cd Atari Jaguar Philips cd-i 3D0 What your favorite system out of these chooses of systems that lost the system wars at the time at first to the Super Nintendo and Sega geneses and then to the Sony playstaion and N64. Their all systems that claimed to be the best and sold some systems but not enough by far to make them the guy at the top of the hill. Please include a reason why you like the system and what are your favorite memories of it. Mine would be the Philips cd-i because of how strange it's history is.

ATARISOFT: Can it ever be part of Atariage?
Towelie replied to Atariboy2600's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think the game their talking about is the Manhole games created by Cyan, creaters of Cosmic Osmo and myst and one of my favorite companys because they have the balls to make game in non threatening exploratory environments. -
Acclaim almost dead! Thank god!!!!!
Towelie replied to cimerians's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Im still a fan of Acclaim and always will be. It's one of the oldest American publishing houses and im going to be sad to watch it leave. You whne the company started up it created some of the worst games ever that screwed people out of tons on money but I think thay started to inprove their act on the latter days of the 90s. They were one of the only companys to give a good amount of support to the N64 and saturn, they made some pretty good lisesed games, and they have made a couple origanal titals. -
Other video game referances for the episode "Mortal Kombat" etc. video games - in the commercial for Bonestorm, the two characters fighting on the screen bear a large resemblance to Goro from MK - and, the character fighting the tank looks like Liu Kang from MK2 The video games in the store: - Electronic Biathalon - Bonestorm - Canasta Master - Operation: Rescue - Angus Podgorny's Caper Toss (see below) - Swim Meet - A Streetcar Named Death - Celebrity Autopsy - Robot Stampede - SimReich - Save Hitler's Brain

http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter...=B&game_id=7165 You know the game from the simpson episode Marge Be Not Proud. It turnes out that game is a real game. Many of you have probably not seen BloodStorm, but its very similar predecessor`Time Killers', which was in more arcades than BloodStorm. They were both made by Strata, and feature lots of blood, gore, and guts but little in the side of gameplay. Also, `Bloodstorm' has not been released on a home system due to its lack of success in the arcades. It just goes to show you that horrifying carnage does _not_ make a good game. Horrifying carnage and 3-D graphics make a good game!"

Still it should be on lists of video games made into movies.

Best video game made into a movie...
Towelie replied to Trip_Cannon's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Under the catagory of favorite video game turned television show I'll have to go with The Super Mario Brothers Super Show. You'd have to have been born somewhere between the late seventies and early eighties to have fully appreciated Oldschool Nintendo. Even though the major Nintendo stars such as Mario and Link are still with us today, their innocence doesn't hold up any more in a gaming world full of violence and mature themes. I remember watching this show religiously every day after school, during a time of my life when anything Nintendo was sacred. I had the opportunity recently to watch some of the episodes, and found it a fun experience to relive that bit of nostalgia. Even though cartoons have vastly improved over the years, I believe that the episodes still hold up pretty well. Memories of the time I had a crush on Princess Toadstool and Zelda, sang along to the Mario song, and pretended I was Link dueling with bad guys in my back yard seem to come back to me as I watched. The style of the cartoons is outdated in comparison to the superb quality we have today, but if you fit into that age range I mentioned previously, you'll find some great nostalgic value in these cartoons -
Best video game made into a movie...

I have to go with mortal kombat 1. All the acting was great not corny and it had a good blend of action and comedy. Seeing those characters on the big screen lit my eyes up, I still remembering playing Mortal Kombat when it first came out on sega, man was it great. Not only did they get the characters right in this movie, and the way they act, they got there moves down pact too. Each of the special moves correct. Sub-Zero's freeze, Scorpions's 'harpoon', Sonya's scissors, Kano's knife, Shang Tsung's soul getter, and so forth. There choice of words may have come in wrong like the flawless victory (no way was that a flawless victory at the end.) They still did a great job and I throughly enjoyed the movie, I still watch it today a lot from time to time. The best scene had to be when Scorpion & Sub-Zero came through that door for the first time, that scene was executed BEAUTIFULLY, one of the best scenes I have ever scene done in a movie. This movie I give a 9 out of 10. Nothing will ever beat this for video game to movie adaptations. -
Thank's a lot

But why where their so few third-party publishers?

I know that the lynx was always behind the sega game gear and the game boy. But it seems to me that some people bought it, I seen it in many movies before and I've seen games for sale many times. How many Lynx where sold and did Atari turn a profit on it. Also how come the lynx never got any third party support, a lot of games where made for it and most of them where made by Atari. How come atari stopped making games for it after Battlezone 2000?

Does anyone love fmv games as much as me? "FMV (Full Motion Video) games enjoyed a brief burst of popularity in the mid-90's." That statement, though, is incorrect: FMV games were never particularly popular. Most serious gamers hated them, but a few game companies (American Laser Games, etc.) were absolutely in love with the concept, and they just kept putting out title after title until they went out of business. The novelty of FMV games, the interaction, is that you are - theoretically - more immersed in dealing with a 'real' world (as opposed to a computer generated world). Even without the FMV, I liked the realistic style Sierra moved into in the early 90s. I liked how in PQ4, there were actual candy bars and soda cans for sale in the convenience store. I have a few suggestions for how an FMV game made today could be better than those of yesteryear. They could be shot digitally, which cuts the cost and time of production down significantly - thus they could put more money towards shooting on real sets and on location, not with blue screen and 2D backgrounds. Also by shooting digitally it makes it much easier and therefore cost effect to include effects later. The FMV's were always troubled by the lack of good products. Who knows? If the whole FMV fad had come five or ten years later we might be looking at those games a lot differently.
