  1.

I'm sure I tried it with my Sears VA II. I don't remember if they worked or not but I don't *think* they did. I could be entirely wrong about that, though.

If you just want the controllers, just go buy a Sears VA II like I did. I only care about an actual 2800 because it's rare and collectible. It's probably my "most irrational want".

Everyone needs a few good irrational wants!

  2. Most of mine I got from big lots on eBay that at the time I figured that after I took out what I wanted, buying it all in bulk, and then selling what I don't need later that in the long run it would be cheaper than buying everything individually. I also look for stuff that the seller and/or other bidders don't notice or know is in the lots. For an example, I got one in a lot that had two prototype carts that apparently only I noticed because I was the only one that bid on it. So, now I have doubles of doubles of doubles that someday I'll sort through and then sell.

    That's a really good plan!

  3. Think I got mine all on Ebay. Mine were all under $50, including at least a few games with each.

I have a Sears heavy sixer, a 4 switch Atari woody, and a 7800, all boxed. I used to have a Sears VA II but pretty sure I sold it - I decided at one point that all I really *need* is a 7800, and beyond that all I really *want* is a heavy sixer, one proper Atari-branded VCS, and maybe someday if I'm lucky again a 2800. (I say again because I found one boxed up in a store once and passed on it like a doofus.)

Ive actually been considering getting a 7800 in place of my 2600 but the compatibility issues on certain models makes me nervous. And man, I'd want a 2800 for the controllers alone! Now that I've thought about it, would those controllers work on a 2600/7800?

  4. My guess is that since it claims the source is from the female vice president then during one of their company stoner parties(average work day) she probably made it up as a joke because she thought it would look funny for a bunch of dudes to shake hands like that and it just stayed "official" because everyone was too stoned to get the joke.

I can totally accept that as truth. Lol

  5. Honestly, I was never really into video games at all until I was given a 2600 just a few months ago. But I fell in love with it as both a machine and because of the fact that it is still being produced for. I love the idea of this many people still playing and creating for a medium that is now decades old. Not to mention the games are actually good and hold my attention... Unlike new game systems.
