  1. Welp, looks like Jon has a date....or not. :D

    Garfield comic strip

  2. Got tricked on e-bay.  Partially my fault for not looking close enough.  The description said "Maxell C30 Cassette Tapes Lot Of 6 Brand New Low Noise/High Output Cassettes

But when they showed up, it was 3 C30s and 3 C60s.
Went back to check the auction and the picture does show the 3 C60s and 3 C30s, so I missed that.
Oh well, better than nothing, but not what I was looking for.
A good reminder to check the description AND the picture closely.  ;-)

You were looking for cassettes?   Funny.  I think I just recycled a box of unused tapes.

  3. I never remember trailers for very long, but the one I do was for a 2002 movie. We all thought it was for a new Batman movie. Really clever. 🤣

Hmm... wild!   Got a link for this trailer?

  4. Unpopular and Controversial opinions Volume 5:

-I think Joel Schumacher got a bad rap due to his Batman films.

-Kirby Super Star (SNES)> Kirby Super Star Ultra. (DS)

-SNK and Arc System Works should do more than just wash-rinse-repeat fighting games. (Just how is KoF 15 any different from KoF 12-14? There is barely any distinction between Guilty Gear Strive from Xrd and Overture.)

-Sonic 1 went downhill at Labyrinth Zone.

-Zootopia was the first good animated Disney feature since The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

    -Strange Magic > Frozen

-Dave Chapelle is still funnier than the rest of Comedy Central. (Yes, this is including post-9/11 South Park, The Man Show, and The Daily Show.)

-Transformers: The Movie (1986) was underwhelming and dull. (Still better than the Bay sequels, but that isn't saying a whole lot.)

-CV: Rondo of Blood is the weakest of the 16-bit CastleVanias, including the Super NES Dracula X.

-Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert should go back to acting.

Agree on 1, 5, and 6, and it is ok to be wrong on 8.

  7. Can’t believe this… the HeadStart Explorer, it lives! Even the monitor survived shipping (thanks to @doctorclu’s excellent packing job)

currently getting some games onto a 720k disk. Not too many good stuff that’ll run on an XT with 512k RAM, but still. Unfortunately the hard drive controller doesn’t fit in the computer without the riser card (not wide enough) but at least I can test it on another computer.

I wonder if I could plug my C128 into this monitor.

That will be interesting.   I always liked how it had a built in GUI (a few years after Mac and ST) but that it did not need to actually load anything as all the applications were built in.   Always dreamed of taking the eprom out that had all the programs, see if I could remove one of the more stupid programs, add a small modem program, and to a BBSer like me it would have been more complete.

After that it would have been basically a ready to go terminal!

  10. I think I'd like Dr. Who, but have never seen it. I just know "of" it.  I tried watching part of a couple episodes on pluto but it was hard to follow.  Any recommendation for a movie or something to start with?  Maybe I just need to find one of the series and start at episode 1.

I totally agree with that.  "Rose" is a great intro.   Christopher Eccleston is one of my favorites as the main character (The Doctor).

Friend explained it to me and kinda got me into it.   Told me that it had been going on for years and year, that it was about a guy who lives multiple lifetimes, and who travels in a ship that is really elsewhere, and the box is just the doorway that was opened up on the other end.  That is why you have the "larger on the inside and out"

For me it wasn't till I saw the main character change to a new guy that I really jump on and started watching it.

Effectively I would describe it like this: main character is dropped in from out of the blue into a random story (most of the time horror, sci-fi, thriller, monster movie) by a magic box.   Character then interacts/solves story, then leaves in magic box.

Effectively that is what it is.  A bunch of short stories the main character visits.

I lived in South, Dallas so only moved less than an hour away.  But it is more quiet, lower taxes, and people are a bit friendlier here.

We decided to take advantage of the market really.   House of 18 years was worth more than twice what we paid for it.   Sold house, paid off mortgage and completely paid off new house.  :D   New city is nice, getting to try out a new place.  Been fun.

  22. Would Atari have been more powerful had they conquered the whole world and add an Atari logo to each national flag?

    1. doctorclu

Nah, Atari would have over stretched their resources into too many programs and ultimately gone bankrupt.

    1. doctorclu

      doctorclu

Wow.   Anyway, I think Jamie (2nd Doctor) is my favorite companion.   Sarah Jane Smith (3rd, 4th, and 10th) would be another.   And Jo Grant (3rd) was a lot of fun.   Billie Piper was best for the 9th Doctor, but not so much the 10th Doctor.
