Which of the "Holy Grail" games you want the most?
doctorclu replied to HP Atari King of Michigan's topic in Atari 2600
Don't play my 2600 much, but I have been trying for a very retro classic look, so I only collect carts with no picture, just the lettering and preferably the gold or silver trim, though Sears carts work as well. This is mainly due to my earliest impressions of the Atari 2600 when I was seven... how the game system had that woodgrain look, and all the carts tried to look all uniform and professional. Well, that and it limits my collection considerably from hundreds of 2600 games to several dozen. -
Excluding Pac-Man and ET, which is the worst game?
doctorclu replied to HP Atari King of Michigan's topic in Atari 2600
Being a HUGE fan of the Atari 800 Star Raiders, flying the 2600 Star Raiders is like flying a garbage Scow rather than a Star Cruiser. But if you look at it that way, it's a great game! My Garbage Scow vs. the Zylon empire!! Yeh for the 2600 the best Star Raiders games are Star Master and Phaser Patrol. As for other games... I always liked the graphics and puzzles in Sword Quest. Another game that was not all that good but that I had hours and hours of fun goofing around in was KRULL. It took NOTHING to beat that game. But I loved the graphics, I loved the spider room, and I would have my character dancing in the doorway taunting the spider. Ok, I found a game that I liked the graphics in and was desperate to enjoy it as long as I could. And I had played all my other games to death by that point. -
Excluding Pac-Man and ET, which is the worst game?
doctorclu replied to HP Atari King of Michigan's topic in Atari 2600
Let's see, been playing games on the Atari 2600 for 27 years.... through time, I really stuck to the games I liked, and there were many I don't play anymore... to be honest, I have forgotten any games that really sucked since they were weeded out years ago. The only games I remember are really realy fun ones. And I like E.T. -
Dactyl Joust... nice! I would like Robinson's Requium... another RPG for the Jag would be nice.
-
That is a fine mod!! Yep seen it before, and naturally would not mind having one.

What was the year you bought your first Jaguar?
doctorclu replied to justclaws's topic in Atari Jaguar
Bought mine for $30 at Kaybee toy store in Bedford (Dallas/Fort Worth area, TX) around May 1999. Played Cybermorph and just about hated it. Then I got Bubsy and all was better. Soon found T2K and AvP and soon Cybermorph became a distant memory. -
My feeling on selling is, if I sell it, I will probably want another later. So for that reason I hold off on selling. I think the recent Willy Wonka movie said it best: Charlie: "... A person offered me $500 for this golden ticket.. we need the money more." Charlie's Grandfather: " Charlie, every day people manufacture money. Lots and lots of money. However, that ticket you have is one of five, and once it's gone there will be no more. And why would want to trade that for something as common as money?"

Visually; text scrolled by at about 2400 baud speeds. But I was using XP's built-in Telnet client, so perhaps that had something to do with it. 921846 I figured that was being controlled by the BBS actually. Seems the text goes by at a casaul (but not too slow pace) and there are a lot of pauses. But it is my favorite Atari BBS due to D&D-ST. (Door game... Dungeons & Dragons.)

Isn't that the truth. I think that I love the most that the entire Atari library for the Atari 8-bit computers are free now. Not that I didn't get it free then... but transfer times are much better, and more legal...

Oh well, didn't think so, had to try anyways. Can't seem to find this one anywhere 479609 Hope this guy was able to find a ATR image at least. If you are still out there, let me know if you still need this.

Awesome! Do they have that in the analog archives somewhere online? Might have to type that puppy in.

Whoa ... did you adapt that logo from my TAF ANSI screen? (It was included as a sample in my FANSI program for the ST) If so, cool! I haven't seen ANSI in ages, much less my own. 920466 That is too cool! Now I am glad I posted that screen shot, and really awesome to meet the original artist of the opening screen I see so often. Yeh, really would be great to hang back with you on Darkforces.

Ever feel *embarassed* when your Tv is screaming..
doctorclu replied to courtesi's topic in Atari Jaguar
Never was much of a fan in the arcade, but liked the Jag version. -
My pleasure! I'm trying to get Dark Forces on the BBS banner ads at like BBSmates.com and places like that, but so far they are dragging their feet on my submission. In the meantime, I am happy with the BBS's we have out there (why I have not put one up for right now) and would like to see more people out there on them.

Hey check it out... Connected To Closer To Home BBS Support BBS for BBS Express! Professional Running Bbs Pro! Version 6.0b ExpressNET node X_439 activated at 1:56:00pm on Wed 24-Aug-05 Enter your user number or 'LOST' or 'NEW' if a new user : That BBS is down occationally, but for a BBS that has been up since like 1999 they are doing good in my book. Just need more people posting.

Oh yeh, 2600 as a computer... you know I always wanted to get the computer adaptor for the Atari 2600 that would expand it to 32K, give it a membrane keyboard, ect ect. Always thought it would be fun to run a BBS off an Atari 2600. Long time dream of mine.

That Moria Dungeon game sounds kinda fun. Does the current Plato simulator have that working on it? I love the Net-Hack kind of games.
-
Wow... amazing to see how far technology had come between those two.
-
Or even better...
-
Ok, to make up for the broken link, here is the mighty cat and the roar.
-
Huh!? Who are these two? I recognize Fard, but who is the other guy? What credentials do they have for being the "ultimate Atarians"? Give us some info to vote with.

When oh when is Battlesphere going up on ebay?
doctorclu replied to courtesi's topic in Atari Jaguar
I remember that. That was fun. -
LOL, yeah I saw that earlier. I think people asking so much for BS is a complete crock. Why doesn't someone just make new PCB's and get EEPROM's with BS burned into them and use em to mass produce these bad boys? I would imagine you could get at least $120 a peice for a reproduction of the game...right?? 908707 Can easily be done, and many have done this. I would like to see the rights given to companies that want to produce them, but all and all, we need to work with the developers on it.

Jag Community has permission to port JellyBeans
doctorclu replied to walter_J64bit's topic in Atari Jaguar
Well, the nice parts about this game is for one, a lot have found this a fun puzzle game, it is already in the Atari 8 version of C, and can network. That and this is a fairly new game. Be great to have it on the Jag. -
Yeh Gorf Pluz...can't wait for that or Mad Bodies since I love the 2D shoot em up games.
