  1. Pseudografx, Level42 just hit on something I was just starting to thinking about: The Mountains and cities. I could try to find resources to draw out arcade screen shots of both, but it looks like you might already have a good handle on this. Would you be up for helping us draw out the arcade backgrounds so we can modify the backdrop to look like that? Won't be at the resolution you drafted, but it will really help this Arcade Moon Patrol really pop.
  2. WANTED - An ATR of Moon Patrol with better sound. I've been told that the ATR version used in these hacks has bad sound/music. If a better ATR can be found I will add these hacks to that ATR going forward. ------------------------- Last night two new ATRs were uploaded. This version: Moon Patrol-n02c.atr (Was created just before EnderDude made the three wheeled rover design so we'll add that in a later revision.) And this version: Moon Patrol-a01c.atr (Inspired by EnderDude's three wheel design, strove for another interpretation of the arcade buggy.)
  3. Since you all are enjoying the work TIX, EnderDude, and I are putting into this, how about my arcade style buggy hack for you all... MoonPatrol 5200 01 A.bin MoonPatrol 5200 01 A.bin
  4. One Arcade style buggy hack for the 5200. MoonPatrol 5200 01 A.bin
  5. Well work is being done by TIX, EnderDude, and myself. And really, the original message thread shows how to hack the rom if you want to make your own buggy, change color, etc. I really encourage customization. As for the label, probably the original label will work, and now the gameplay will resemble the artwork more closely.
  6. Cool. Thinking of trying that with the Candle XE graphics mod because I doubt the Atari 800/XL/XE could do that normally. But people do program amazing things these days.
  7. Well bummer to the atr, however, if you can find a good atr I will have it converted to the buggy design you choose.
  8. Hey Atari 800 fans out there, I ported all enemy sprites TIX came up with, and here we have the Cricket Rover: Moon Patrol-n02c.atr And inspired by EnderDude's three wheel design I tried my hand yet again at the arcade design and got this... Moon Patrol-a01c.atr There is no right or wrong, just customization of buggies.
  9. Was that the .atr or .bin for the Atari 800 version? Do you believe that version was a 5200 conversion to the 800?
  10. YEEEHHAAA!! . Yes, I will have some fun with this.
  11. The 5200 version with the cricket rover and improved aliens released tonight! MoonPatrol 03 5200.bin
  12. We learn so much on this. Thanks EnderDude! Ok, as promised, the long awaited improved version with all the enemy improvements that TIX have given to date... ... FOR THE 5200!! MoonPatrol 03 5200.bin
  13. So what did you find out on how it works?
  14. Hey TIX, you seem full of energy, can you update these two with your enemy mods as you go? This is the Atari 800 disk image, they'll love that! Moon Patrol-n01c.atr 5200 version... the one we've promised for a while. MoonPatrol 02 5200.bin You got the sprite modding down, if you can update those two with what you've got, will be great.
  15. Haha... still tracking that down.
  16. AWESOME! So this is working in PAL but not NTSC... which means... Atari 800 (though I had it in NTSC mode) is actually the PAL colors and that I need to make a NTSC color set.
  17. Title screen, maybe later. In the meantime, a ATR image I started to hack up. Has the cricket rover, and the arcade colors. No enemy mods yet. Moon Patrol-n01c.atr
  18. Wow you've all been busy. Thanks for the screen shots and confirming that it looks good. The picture you featured above... Was what I color matched the colors in the game with.
  19. And arcade color! moon-test-n6c.bin
  20. Cute. I like the larger reflection on the windshield.
  21. And an arcade color version... moon-test-n5c.bin
  22. Xuel provided a disassembly of Moon Patrol and looking at that... 23. Ok, that is looking more like the darker Atari800 color version than the lighter and washed out Altirra version. Appreciate the screen shots. I'm not sure if there is a different higher color used for the city level, but worth a look.
  24. Color matched to the arcade, though I had hoped we would have had more people (than one) play this on real hardware. Still need to see which most are getting, the Atari800 or Altirra colors. Colors can be the lightened or darkened, or changed entirely. And green cities is actually arcade canon... I respect the problem. (That is to say currently no immediate idea.) (sigh) Ok, I've done this before with Altirra while working on the sounds for the Jaguar version of Moon Patrol. Need to look this up as apparently this is a key command and not in the drop down menus.
  25. That's my design. We have a few floating around here and can show people how to make their own if they want.
