My monitor has always been fine but I did have a problem with some arcing around the cup on the HV connection to the tube. Sprayed it with corona dope and it was fine. I also capped it when I got it. Your problem looks like a board or connection problem more than a monitor problem. Could also be a ground problem.

Yes my ROTJ works great. It's all original with a great cabinet and side art. These have a very unique cabinet if you ever see one you won't forget it. My Xevious on the other hand just died on me. It's been going great for 2 years. Now it's coming up with garbage on the screen. It's been wheeled to the shop. I stuck my Asteroids in it's place in the gameroom. It was in the shop. Xevious probably needs some reseating. Jim

"a long countertop area with the main computer equipment, 800 equipment and a Vax 4000-20 setup" A Vax 4000. We had several of those where I use to work. I use to have a PDP-8, 11/34, and 11/70 sold them when I moved. Anyone remember those big noisy LA100's and 120's? How about a Gigi, or a VT100? Jim

Ok since everyone is posting game pics here are a few of mine that I could get to:

Just got home from looking at the 20 games I had in the works. Made a deal for 500 cash. Have to leave at 8am to go get them with a rented 22' truck (wish I could buy one of these things!). This lot is all old EM stuff from the 60's/70's. Shooting galleries, Speedway, Motorcycle, Sea Rescue, Invaders From Outer Space, several flying types, etc.

I paid $130.00 for mine working fine and in good shape. That's the most I have ever paid for any video game though. I try to get them CHEAP!!! It's worked so far. Have had close to 100 machines and most were in the free-$35.00 each range. I would say the best price guide is eBay.

Well I sold one lot of 10. Have a lot of 6 pinball machines sold but not taken yet. The rest are packed with other machines where ever I can find room. Have about 18 machines in my gameroom in the house, about 25 in my shop, and have about 15 in the barn. The big problem is I have a deal in the works for another 20! Also have a deal on the back burner for about 30-40 juke boxes. It helps to have a big old 4000sf house, 2000sf shop, and 3200sf barn though.

Ok that was my old weekend deal. Last weekend I cleaned out a warehouse. Got 22 videos and 12 pinballs plus lots of parts. Had to rent a big U-Haul and make 2 trips. About 250 miles total. It came out to $1200.00 for the games, truck, and fuel. Works out to about $35.00 per game and all parts in the building were included free. List of videos I got: Return of the Jedi works Moon Patrol works Galaga works Kangaroo works DK Jr not working yet Moon Cresta dead Super Moon Cresta working 2 SI Deluxe both work Street Fighter works Karate Champ works Double Dragon works Asteroids works Gun Fight works Space Zap plays blind Tennis works Star Castle a few problems Pleiads coin up problem Time Pilot did not test yet 2 old EM shooting gallery EM Motorcycle Lots of parts A few pictures at the link below. raid1-12 the others are my game room. http://www2.netdoor.com/~vannoys/games

Got 8 machines for $200.00. Local guy had them in storage rental unit and rent was coming due again. Wanted the room cleaned out. Deal was I had to take everything. Got a Sega Turbo complete coming on with garbage on screen, Baseball upright working fine, 2 Nintendo Playchoice machines. Both working with 5 games in each, working Nintendo VS Super Mario, Galaga cabinet missing boardset but otherwise complete, Centipede cabinet with no monitor/boards, 1 other cabinet with no boards or CP and painted black. Have not figured out what it was yet. Had to also take about 25 back doors from various machines. Some doors were rough but many still had locks with keys, and some even had manuals in plastic bags attached to them.

Can you fix classic gaming systems? Have some free stuff!
jim replied to tiggerthehun's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hi, I did not get your email. I still want them. Let me know how much and where to send payment or if you take Paypal. Thanks, Jim -
All I can say is keep looking and don't pay too much. They are out there cheap. I got my first one several years ago. A Star Castle for $25.00. It was dead but complete/nice shape. Got it home cleaned the circuit breaker on the PS and it's been working fine ever since. Got my next game for $25.00 as well. Altered Beast. The cabinet was gutted and all the parts were in a box. Replaced the original PS with one from a PC and it's working fine. The most I have ever paid was $130.00 each for a working Frogger, Phoenix, and Xevious. Got a Pole Position, Defender, Zaxxon, and Gunsmoke for a trade on some test equipment I had about $50.00 total in. Got a Pleiads working fine for $100.00. Got a working Magic City pinball machine free all I had to do was drive about 60 miles to pick it up. Just picked up a Defender and SeaWolf last weekend for $100.00 total. Both were dead but some chip reseating/cleaning got them both working. Keep looking. Just when I think I won't find anything else I come across one for a great deal!

Got a call from a man I have been buying "junk" from for years. He said his son-in-law had a couple video games he wanted out of his way. I went to his house to take a look. He had a Defender and a Sea Wolf. He said they were both dead and he would take $50.00 each. I gave them a quick going over to see if they were complete and said ok. Got them home last night, did some chip reseating and contact cleaning. Got Sea Wolf working and playing good. Defender is now coming on but giving a ROM 1 error. All other tests pass fine. I will have to do some more troubleshooting on it. A good haul for $100.00 on 2 "dead " machines.

Oh, BTW I lived in Minnesota for 20 years. Now I have been in Mississippi for 20. It's about as far apart as you can get weather wise and otherwise. People here still think I am an outsider, a Yankee!

I think they will retain their value or go up a bit for the next 10-15 years. After that I don't know. They are worth more to me because I remember getting them new in the store and playing them when they were "new" and the hot thing to have. My younger brother got a Intelevision for Christmans one year and it was something new and exciting to us. We also got a Pong game when I was a kid in the 1970's and it was amazing. We could sit there and play it for hours and hours. Now days it's nothing new and exciting at all to kids. In fact it's down right boring to many. My kids will probably still be interested in Atari and other classics as they get older because they have been playing them since they were old enough to. Once they have kids who knows what things will be like. I also think that as we get older our priorites change. When I am 50 or 60 will I still want to buy games? I don't know. I also think that the younger generation (kids now) will probably be more interested in Xbox, Playstation, etc and maybe things like NES, SNES, Sega, etc. It will get to a point one day that just about no one will be intesested in old video games. Just look at records at garage sales and junk shops. No one is interested in the stuff from the mid 50's and back. The people that use to listen to it either already have it, don't want it anymore, or they are dead.

I have it. What do you have to trade?

I had a pretty good week. I got a 6 switch 2600, assorted, controllers/hookups, Colecovision roller controller, assorted manuals, 15 Atari games, and 25 Colecovision games for $15.00 at a flea market. Got 12 boxed Odyssey II games with manuals for $1.00 at a yard sale. The box they were in had $1.00 each crossed out and had $1.00 for all. Got a 4 switch, assorted joysticks, and a Pong game for $4.00 at a thrift store. Got a boxed TRS-80 with accessories for $5.00 at the same thrift store. A few weeks ago I got a case with 15 Atari 2600 games and manuals for $3.00 at the same place. Also got a NES box with controllers, manuals, hookups, 2 games, gun, and a pad for $2.00 (the console was gone) there. They always have something good there.

I started collecting about 2 or 3 years ago. I pick up games anywhere I can. I have never paid more than $150.00 for any arcade machine. I got several free and traded test equipment I had nothing in for others. I got 30 truck loads of NASA surplus electronics for $1000.00 a few years ago. Sold about $6000.00 worth out of it, traded some for games, and just sold the last big lot of it I had left for $710.00. I just took a bunch of pictures. It seems that everywhere I looked in both our living rooms I found game stuff. Now I know why my wife wants me to get rid of some of it before we move. It helps to have a 4000sf house to put it all in though The house we want to move to is just over 4000sf with a big basement so I guess I could keep it all. I just have to lay claim to the whole basement before the wife and kids do! It seems like this stuff just starts to multiply on it's own and starts rolling like a snowball out of control! Here are the pics: Game Pics
