Wow, in addition to being a talented 6502C programmer, you are also excellent at hardware engineering.
-
I'd rather keep the grid. To change the scrolling to something smoother would tamper with the game's soul.

It is still baffling that Taito never ported this to the Wii. (Perhaps with Space Gun, Operation Wolf, Thunderbolt, and Operation Wolf 3.)
-
Now this is quite fascinating:

Judging from the footage and screenshots, this actually looks like fun and it's pitiful that George Broussard decided not to finish this.
Hat tip goes to Spawn Wave for mentioning this.
It's at the 8:04 mark.

I think Froggo (only two good games), Tiertex (their port of the JVC Star Wars to the SMS/GG was one of the only good things they did), Micronics (their only good game was Spriggan Powered), and Micronet come to mind. Seriously, Acclaim and Titus have nothing on them. At least the former had Turok, Extreme G, Stargate, Iggy's Reckin' Balls, and Judge Dredd (SNES & Genesis/MD); the latter had Ardy Lightfoot (Underrated) and the Prehistorik franchise.

I will say this about the PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16 version of Shadow of the Beast: It was the best version of that game as far as gameplay and fun are concerned. I also agree with what @electricmastro has said about the music.

Here's a video of Iggy's Reckin' Balls.
Here's the Soundtrack, which still holds up to this very day:

Here's quite a few English translations for various HuCard games: https://pce.cabbage.cx/
I'm glad that there are people translating these games, and the TG-16/PC-E has no shortage of translation hacking material.

Wow, that conversion looks excellent. What's next, ports of Curse of Issyos and Attack of the PETSCII Robots?

Here's a fascinating indie adventure game from Torple Dook that can be best described as Blue's Clues meets Harvester:

Speaking of Gex, I wonder if anyone here has heard about the Gex Jr. leak? Considering that this is in the wake of Square Enix selling Eidos, maybe a Gex revival is doable? Then again, Dana Gould hasn't done anything funny in years.

I still have my N64, and some of my favorites are:
-Super Mario 64
-Duke Nukem 64, despite the censorship.
-Goldeneye (I'm still surprised that most youngsters haven't figured out that this game had multiple control options.)
-Mario Kart 64
-Diddy Kong Racing
-Both of the Banjo-Kazooie games.
-Both of the Extreme G games.
-Iggy's Reckin' Balls
-Super Smash Bros.
-Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
-Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire
-Star Fox 64
-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-Donkey Kong 64 (A flawed game, but one I still like.)
-Clay Fighter 63 1/3 (There were worse games back then, and worse games now.)
-Both of the N64 Castlevanias. (American McGee's Alice owes quite a bit to these, and they have aged better than the CD-ROM Tomb Raider trilogy.)
-Both of the Vigilante 8 games.
-Wipeout 64

@DragonGrafx-16 That's because Hyakutaro Tsukumo worked on both TF5 and Blast Wind. His excellent soundtrack for the Thunder Force 6 that never was made Broken Thunder and the Thunder Force 6 we actually got even sadder.

I thought I would bring up Technosoft's oft-overlooked contributions to the system, starting with:
You guys would be surprised to hear how magazines were eviscerating this.

Here's Shmup Junkie's review:

How come no one here has even mentioned Technosoft and Zoom's contributions to the X68000?
Example One: Thunder Force II
Example Two: Phalanx

I have made at least three cover songs from that game. They can be found on my Band Lab page.

-The Donkey Kong Country trilogy (Or anything else that Grant Kirkhope, Robin Beanland, David Wise, and Evelyn Novakovic did for the system.)
-Tales of Phantasia
-Star Ocean
-Super Mario World 2
-The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse
-Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose
-Super Castlevania IV
-Super Turrican 1 & 2
-Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
-Demon's Crest
-Kirby Super Star (KSS Ultra felt off, and more ways than one.)
-Nosferatu (I wish Koji Igarashi would consider remaking this.)
-Mega Man X-X3
-Actraiser 1 & 2
-Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, and Terranigma
-R-Type 3 & Super R-Type
-Star Fox
-Treasure of the Rudras
-Earthbound
-Gradius III
-Contra III: The Alien Wars
-Skyblazer
-Spawn: The Video Game
Yes, that is a lot.

Noelle, I bet Chris Covell, who has videos on programming PC-E/TG-16 Assembly could port it.
-
@jgkspsx I have to agree, and Rob Zombie did not belong on that list for one simple reason: He was only in one game in the series.
By the way, I have written a rant on Axel specifically that I plan on doing an audio version soon.
Random, personal, TM Miscellania:
-My personal favorite versions of Sweet Tooth are the Black and PS3 trucks.
-Darkside should have been fully playable in TM3, and with an actual storyline. (Ditto for TM2.)
-My all-time favorite car in the series is Crimson Fury.
-Favorite stages in TM2 are New York, Antarctica, Paris, and Amazonia.
-Minion should never have been dropped from Twisted Metal: Head-on. (Though Cousin Eddy's ending was the best in the game.)
-Harbor City was quite promising, and too bad that it got cancelled.

Matt, Mike, I would like to say congratulations on the port's final stage before release. I also congratulated Dave himself on all the numerous versions that he and others have made. Plus, I also told him that the Lynx and TG-16/PC-Engine also had 65C02 processors, meaning that Attack of the PETSCII Robots can be ported to those systems, but have to be optimized for their strengths.

Excellent demo, Muddy. By the way, I consider Shadow of the Beast III to be the most playable of the original trilogy, but that's just me.
