  1. I've been binge watching the Kirby anime. Namely, the superior subtitled version. However, Right Back At Ya' had Ted Lewis (King Dedede and Escargoon) and Dan Green (the Nightmare Salesman) who partially redeem it.

Loved that series.   About all the Kirby I know.

  2. What are your ten worst death scenes in horror films? As in, too convoluted, poorly-produced, over-the-moon, anti-climatic, bland, poorly-thought out, or downright stupid.

I don't know about 10 worst, but the DTV crapfest THE ICE CREAM MAN has the villain just fall into an ice cream vat, jiggle his legs a little, and that's it.  No gore or nothing.  A guy as funky looking as Clint Howard needs to die a much more horrible death!

Also, Nancy's mom at the end of Nightmare On Elm Street (original).. it's more laughable than anything!  She gets sucked through the door at hyper speed by Freddy's arm.

  3. Here's a mugshot of the main character from the game I'm working on.

  4. RIP Max von Sydow from Flash Gordon.

I will always remember him for that role and the priest in the Exorcist...

And King Osric, from Conan the Barbarian!  RIP.

  5. Whoever thought that making a corpse Panthro joke in Thundercats Roar was a good idea, allow me to say that even after his death, Earle Hyman will still be fondly remembered. You, on the other hand, deserve the wrath of I-Mockery and the rest of the Internet.

  6. As much as people hate Contra: Rogue Corps, it did a better Legacy of War than Appaloosa/Novotrade. Of course, I know a certain series of Third-person shooter that did 3D Contra better than Konami.

  7. I wonder if anyone here is fluent/knowledgeable in Ancient Greek? (E. G. Attic, Ionic, Doric/Spartan, Aeolian, Phrygian, and Aegean.)

And I who only wanted to try to find out what the limits/boyndaries of  ‘aorist’-forms as given in interpretation (kóine gr.—> Eng.) would produce. I’m nowhere.

      Yet.

I'm not, but I would like to be. I just started studying Koine Greek, although I've barely gotten through the alphabet. I imagine it will take me a long time (if ever) to become anywhere near fluent.

  8. If there is one genre that the Sega Game Gear excelled at, it would be RPGs. (Points at Sylvan Tale, Moldoria, the Madou Monogatari trilogy, Last Bible, and Lunar: Walking School.

Lunar is the first thing that comes to mind when I try to think of a 'so bad its good' RPG.  It has fun with itself, but at least as far as I got, it was also legitimately awful.  I file it pretty much next to Great Greed and Shut Up and Jam Gaiden.

  12. The original Rayxanber by Data West:

I'll let you know that I tried to make something similar in Flash MX, but quit due to a lack of planning, insufficient programming knowledge, and substandard drawing skills. Maybe I could revive it as a homebrew.

  15. With R-Type Final 2 going from an April Fool's joke to a real thing, I would like to say that R-Type 3: The Third Lightning is still the best game in IREM's seminal series.

  17. Am I the only person here who considers 4Kids' One Piece rap to be a guilty pleasure. Fun fact: Eric Stuart told 4Kids' leaders that the series was too violent. Did I mention that he, along with Lisa Ortiz, Veronica Taylor, Tara Jayne Sands, Ted Lewis, Stan Hart, Jimmy Zoppi, and other 4Kids Pokemon voice actors worked for Central Park Media?

I liked it back in the day, still do :)

  18. Viz Media's Sailor Moon re-dub: Much better than the original, and for once, Cristina Vee doesn't sound obnoxious. To be fair, the original, censored-to-hell dub had some surprisingly good voice performances. (Namely, Naz Edwards as Queen Beryl, Tony Daniels as Wiseman and Jadeite, and Jill Frappier as Luna.)

By the way, I wouldn't mind a remake of Sailor Moon: Another Story, provided it improved on the gameplay and used the original show's music. (I'm talking about expanding on the Sailor Senshis' attack roster.)

  19. RIP Christopher Tolkien.

Is that why that really old SNL episode was on at 10:00pm last night?

  20. Valkyrie Profile for Android:

Might as well port it to the Switch, Windows, and X-Box Live.

I admit to liking the designs of the orcs in that film, even if they aren't well animated.

I generally liked the songs from the first animated movie (1977) better, especially "The Funny Little Things" and "Down, Down To Goblin Town", but "Where There's A Whip There's A Way" is also pretty good.

  22. My first custom sprite gallery:

Some of the sprites need a good looking over to get any artistic mistakes weeded out.

  23. Has anyone here played Drakengard 3, and if so, what are your thoughts?

    1. HoshiChiri

      HoshiChiri

Played most of it- fun action RPG, subverts your expectations of what an anime-esque game should be (I'm told if you've played anything else by Yoko Taro, that's a trademark). Crazy storyline that will simultaneously intrigue & utterly confuse you. It's not super pretty & prone to some glitchy graphical nonsense/slowdown, but it doesn't become unplayable at any point- just annoying.

The game does have multiple endings, but they are presented in sequence- just keep hitting continue after the credits roll & you'll automatically be put on the right path, so don't worry about screwing anything up.

What really bugged me- and trying very hard not to get spoilery here- was the late-game requirement that slams a big ol' grindy roadblock in between you & the final chapter. It utterly destroyed my immersion, & ultimately I gave up & watched someone else's video of the last chunk. The final battle is... unorthodox, & a lot of people don't seem to care for it.

Ultimately- look up the opening cinematic online, & if that looks like something you wanna play (and you can handle the rough edges), you'll enjoy at least most of it.
