I love to test my games on REAL hardware when needed I did made two socketed NES Prototype carts and I'm thinking of building my own prototype version of the Atari 2600 with Sockets as well I've checked OSHPark and I see Activision styled ones and I'm wondering if that can work for my homebrew games or not I'll list the boards I saw on the site
Atari 2600 2K/4K Cartridge PCB - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/ke2psYkp
Activision Atari 2600 2K/4K Cartridge - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/fqTcNFkn
Atari 2600 8K/16K/32K Bankswitch Cartridge - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/Z612kCkR
Activision Atari 2600 8K/16K/32K Bankswitch Cartridge - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/gmpugm1I
Atari 2600 64K Bankswitch Cartridge PCB - https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/wjP27Tpt
Actvision's looks simple to use if I used it as my prototype carts so I don't know - I may not do 64KB so I'll debate on what my game needs

These are not the same platform, they are actually incompatible. However, a controller for the Atari 8-bit family should work with the Atari 2600.
Instead of buying a dedicated USB joystick, you could also get one of the various Atari joystick port (DB-9) to USB adapters and use an original or compatible one. You could even build your own using the "zero delay" USB interface used by many arcade gamers (you can find these tiny boards quite cheap at ebay, Amazon, etc.) I believe, there are several tutorial videos on how to do this on YouTube, as this has gained some popularity with the New C64.
Darn I wished it was
I do have a little joystick module for Arudino from sparkfun that I could try turning into a modern day Atari joystick, my Retrobit USB Atari Joystick still works but has a nasty crunch when I move the stick (the cheap plastic cracked which is the cause of this)

That IDE uses the DASM assembler on the backend, and you can take source code from there and assemble it yourself with DASM on your own system. DASM is by far more widely used than cc65 for Atari projects, and most of the code you will see here will be for DASM.
I don't mind it as long I'm enjoy making 2600 games I'm good, I did made two NES Open Cart Dev Carts using Muramasa's NRom and SxRom (Made into a SLROM) with dual wipe headers for prototyping on Real NES, I would love to create an open version as it can be my own classic way to program and test on the Real 2600
My NES Carts focuses on two games - Ms. Disaster's Blockade and Dr. Emerald's Revenge.

I do have that handy in case for emulation testing from it, now I've got to find my 2600 usb joystick for realism. My dad does own an Atari 130 XL/XE and I know that can run 2600 games without issue, I'm not sure about him owning the 5200 or 2600 consoles.

Give it a try as this site makes it a lot easier to program your game with the online IDE then setting up what's needed and once the game is finished you can export it as a Rom file and play it on Real Hardware or Emulation this has examples on how its done and stuff.
8-bit Workshop - Make sure to make a Github account and make it as a repository as most browser deletes the local storage within' a few days.

Install atari dev studio for visual studio code first of all if you haven't.
It's a book by Steven Huggs that covers the nes programming in C using 8-bit workshop an online ide and it's all in asm or c as it uses cc65
I could use the same online ide for the atari 2600.

Since I have the NES Book to make NES Games in C...I been wanting to make Atari 2600 games, What are some games that I could stuff inside a small cart when I get into the book to know how to make Atari 2600 games?
I might have a few ideas for this old system, Where I can find a board so I can convert that into a Dev Cart like I did for my NES carts with Dual wipe headers.
Would any tools work with 8-Bit Workshop's Atari 2600 Batari Basic IDE I'm basically new to Atari 2600 making.
I'm basically wanting to be a Retro game dev and create games for these old systems.

I'm looking for a 1800MaH 7.2V NI-CD Battery Pack I can easily change into as replacement for the Sega Powerback I have for my Game Gear, here's why I need a new battery!
When I found a good deal on ebay to get the Game Gear with two games (I've got arid of Chuck Rock as that didn't please me) it came with a Powerback but sadly the Seller said the battery was dead so when I decided to dismantle it to see why and the Cells were corroded so bad the whole battery pack was toast. and I needed to find a high rating of Mah so I can make it work again with this new battery.
So does anyone have one for cheap or can find me a site that sells a 1800Mah Ni-CD Battery cheaply? I can arrange an payment in some ways to get a new battery for my SEGA Powerback.

I'm just curious on how hard is z80 ASM of the Gameboy and not sure I'll be acin' that I bascially want to use this z80 assembler called Rednex GameBoy Development System which means I'll have to learn z80 in order to create some Gameboy Color games of my own which I do want to make it only for Gameboy Color if possible.
So is this type of ASM is hard or should I use the C complier which is GBDK?
I really would love to make some neat Gameboy/Color Games of my own so I could release the games for anyone to play around with and enjoy.
my Dev name Scythe & Genesis Games is lacking a lot and never made a game before!

Step Aside one Major Retro gamer here! I'm gonna show ya some of my gamin' collection I have currently from Gameboy to Genesis!
Genesis:

I kinda didn't get my Game Genie for Genesis in the shot....but I have the Gold Label Version that I use to mess with the Game's Coding only no cheatin' ever from my Games!
Gameboy/color:

These are Custom Gameboy Cases from http://CustomGameCases.com These are the best DS sized gameboy cases you'll ever buy! Trust me these are the best cases ever for Gameboy and Gameboy Color games - Shantae one is empty I don't have the game sadly neither that pokemon red hack featuring team rocket.
Game Gear:
had a minor lightning issue to get these lighted up with back cam of iPod Touch 6th Gen XD - also not a whole lot in Game Gear as I'm more focused on the Gameboy MoreMaster System:
I'm not focused on these as I don't know what will be next to play on my PowerBase Converter at the time so I'm not sure what's the next game I would get for it.so here's what I have for my side of retro Games SNES and NES....hardly play those line of games oh Well XD
-
I'd suggest moving this to the "Wanted" forum of the Marketplace.

Well I'll need a mod to do so then as I wrote all that and not wishing to type it or copy it all XD

I've tried Nintendo Age and two users had it but one sold it and other was out of my price range, as I'm very tight on money right now I'm willing to sag one for $70-$80 max as I found on ebay but it's damn expensive like about $120 from one seller and I don't have the money to get it at that price.
So I'm gonna try here and see if I get anything or not, Oh it has to have it's extension, original AC and it's metal plating as I do own a Model 1 Gens not the Model 2 this was made for, I'm happy with a Model 1 as that's my choice of Genesis because it can use the power base converter anyway.
I'm willing to Negotiate a good price as long I can buy it off and pay for any kind of shipping as well!
Also whatever Sega CD Game you have will be fine but I'm looking for
Mickey Mania
Batman Returns
Sonic CD

I have a Game Gear myself and it has a shadowing problem, as an owner of one I hate to say it but it could be the ribbon cable that may be damaged and may need to be resoldered or something. (try the Caps method first then check the ribbon cable.)
If the ribbon cable goes it won't display anything on the screen as if it was just being powered on.
Unless it's the old Capacitors so check those and replace them all and see if that works.

Okay then I'll nab a SMS Controller as soon I can and plug it in my Genesis to play some SMS games way better with what I have currently for my power base converter, thanks for the help.
-
I'm getting a power base converter soon and I been wondering if the Master systems can be plugged in the Gens Controller Ports and used just like if it was a Gens controller, so are the pins the same as the Gens controllers or I can't use it at all? Most games requires the master System Controller to be used and I don't want another console as this converter is better anyway.
I've tried to find it's pinout to be sure it's the same as the Gens but nothing....so can master system controllers work on the Gens?

Man, that's one bright LED. Was thinking of changing the LED in my silver Mega Drive to purple but I can't find a suitable LED for it.
It was Mouser Electronics' idea XD not sure if they can ship it all the way to japan, it worth speaking to them and see if they can I'm sure they may have a purple one. I can try google search and put in purple 3mm Super Bright Purple LEDs and see what I get.

What I'll need for a Prototype Cart Build?
in Atari 2600 Programming
Posted
I could use those for the Final Version - using old UV Eproms or its flash version is my own oldskool way of doing things - I do have two GB Blaster (They're Gameboy flash boards) - 1MB is gonna be used as my test cart and the 4mb is my GBStudio Dev Cart
With the oldskool way I can giveaway my prototype cart when finished.
