  1. There is a gentleman here in Houston that hooked up an an 8" drive to one of his ATR8000's and he said that he used a calendar to record the data transfer rate. Sometimes we learn things the hard way don't we Nezgar... DavidMil
  2. You can order the exact size labels at: onlinelabels.com part # OL4603WX (2.25" x 2.25") I have used these labels to replace several damaged/missing original labels. DavidMil
  3. No, it says 2.1, but I'm not sure about it's origin. Here are a couple of pictures... David
  4. If you can't get a good dump of your ROM I have a slightly new ver. (2.1) That I can send you. DavidMil
  5. Just looked at the sight and it seems to be working fine. I know that both of those guys (Brad and Bruce) are really busy. I'm rather surprised that they are still working so hard at it! I've been doing business with Best for over 30 years. If he slows down a bit I sure can't blame him! I've had a card on file with Brad for many, many years. When I call or email him with my order, I don't know how much it costs till I get the order with the receipt in it. Over the years we've had a few words, but we have always trusted each other. 6. Did you ever find one? If not I may have one around here somewhere. Or you may call Brad at Best Electronics. DavidMil
  7. I have two different ones that I have found. I'm wondering if there are any others for the other drives... 1. 810 Disc Field Exerciser Rev. 0 Copywrite 1982 two options: Align (Disk Read Test) Ver. 1.0, Burn In Test w/o Format FD00006 2. Disk Manufacturing Test Rev. 0 Date 7/82 six options: Drive Select Test Ver. 1.0, Board Compatibility Test Ver. 0.00, Alignment Test Ver. 0.06, Interchange Read Test Ver. 0.02, Disk Manufacture Read Test Ver. 0.13, ROM Revision Check (No Rev.) The second cartridge does not say for which types of drives, but I could not get any of the tests to run on any of my 1050's, and I don't have a 810 drive anymore. DavidMil
  8. How many types of SALT/ Super SALT did Atari put out? I have two different ones: 400/800 Standalone System Test Rev. 2.05, dated 1982 And a: 400/800/XL Part number FD100335 Rev. A, dated 1983 David
  9. Very nice! I've downloaded and printed them! I'll put them in my docs collection. Thanks, David
  10. Looks like manterola beat me to the punch. Anyway, as manterila asked, are you having problems with your 850? DavidMil
  11. Did you ever get your 850 working? DavidMil
  12. Check back tonight and I'll let you know. I don't know why the 850 fascinates me more than the computers, but it does! David
  13. I will have a look at it today and let you know by tonight. David
  14. I was looking through my 800 manuals (Field Service manual & others) and I found a keyboard matrix that made me dizzy with all the lines for every possible key press combination. All I wanted was to know which wires from the ribbon cable ran to which keys. Out comes the DMM and off comes the cover of the 800; and here is the actual traces from the ribbon cable to each key. I wasn't concerned about any combinations of key presses. This is a very low level table only showing which key traces go to which wires in the ribbon cable. Anyway here is the file in both Word 10 (docx) and PDF formats... DavidMil Keyboard Matrix.docx Keyboard Matrix.pdf
  15. Maybe just a small PCB with a female connection on both ends?
  16. Would you mind explaining that a little more? David
  17. Why not buy an Ape Link? It makes a good connector between two male SIO cables. I have also seen 5 foot long SIO cables. The only female SIO ends I've ever seen are all PC mounted. You might ask Brad at Best Electronics if he has anything like that. DavidMil
  18. Sorry. I had just come off a thread talking about Rambo upgrades. What I meant was Newell's RAMROD OS board. David
  19. I called Premmagnetics Inc today. They are really nice people! But the best part is that they can duplicate, in house, any type of transformer if you send them a working transformer (it's not cheap). So, I've boxed up a good one and I'll drop it in the mail to them tomorrow. I will let you know when I hear from them. Thanks for the tip, David
  20. THAT is a very interesting Thread. I have two Stack Pole and two Hi Tek 800's. One has a RAMBO card, one has 288K of RAM and two are modified to use external self amplified speakers. But all have sticking keys. This would be a wonderful fix for my Stack Pole keyboards! David
  21. Thank you TrekMD. I haven't been to the Coral Gables in 46 years. I thought we had big cockroaches in Texas, then I saw a 'palmetto bug' as you call them. I couldn't believe my eyes, that thing was about 4 inches long. David
  22. Sorry I haven't responded sooner, but to be honest, I plum forgot your post. Again, SORRY... To answer your question, I bought two of them. One lasted about 5 minutes, but this was my fault as I'd bent one of the thin metal 'teeth' above the printer heads. The other one lasted several days (I wrote a little basic program to print the ABC's in both caps and lower case and set it to run 999 more times). It went through fine the first time and I guess I should have left well enough alone. But I wanted to stress test it, and so the printhead failed somewhere close to "Loop=880" the second time through the test. I bought a third one from Irgendwer, and have used it as little as possible. It is still working after a couple of years, but only runs a few minutes each month at most. Do you or anyone else know if he ever did any more production runs of the printheads? I guess I should move this over to the old 1027 topic... David
  23. I didn't know that they ever made any other then the yellow ones. Any idea when they switched? David
  24. Mouser looked good at first but I'm not looking for matching Impedance transformers. But I did find a couple at Premmagnetics that look promising. I sent them an email but haven't heard back yet. I'll call them in a couple of days if I don't hear anything. Thank you BillC, David
  25. Man are we talking about a long time ago! When I try to remember that far back all I see is cobwebs... I did get out my old, 'ASSEMBLER EDITOR USER'S MANUAL' (which has a copyright date of 1980 Rev. 1), and it has almost two full pages of saving and loading files from a cassette tape and about 2/3 of a page talking about saving and loading DOS 1 files.
