Where can I download something to edit? Maybe not bitmapped but vector drawn so I can get max resolution? Or anything available.
This is for the actual Atari cartridge shell with the CXL part numbers.
I visited here and they look awesome but can't see anything I can edit.
https://atari8bit.net/projects/artwork/labels/brown-cart-labels/
You can order the exact size labels at: onlinelabels.com part # OL4603WX (2.25" x 2.25")
I have used these labels to replace several damaged/missing original labels.

22 hours ago, glurk said:I just fully checked out my old drive, it's an RFD44-S1. Everything is A-OK, voltages, caps, regulators, etc. I remounted the regs and added heat sinks on the back. It's all good. The one thing I worry about is the ROM. I think someone here archives these, correct? I would REALLY like to have a backup (or two) of this, but I can neither read it nor burn a new one due to lack of hardware.
So, I'm willing to send it to someone who can read it and make a copy, but I also don't want to be without my only working drive... Can anyone help me with this? I don't know if this one has been read/archived already? That's my question, really...
Anyone here can help? Thanks! Photos attached: percom.zip
If you can't get a good dump of your ROM I have a slightly new ver. (2.1) That I can send you.

Just looked at the sight and it seems to be working fine. I know that both of those guys (Brad and Bruce) are really busy. I'm rather surprised that they
are still working so hard at it! I've been doing business with Best for over 30 years. If he slows down a bit I sure can't blame him! I've had a card on file
with Brad for many, many years. When I call or email him with my order, I don't know how much it costs till I get the order with the receipt in it. Over the
years we've had a few words, but we have always trusted each other.

Did you ever find one? If not I may have one around here somewhere. Or you may call Brad at Best Electronics.

I have two different ones that I have found. I'm wondering if there are any others for the other drives...
1. 810 Disc Field Exerciser Rev. 0 Copywrite 1982 two options: Align (Disk Read Test) Ver. 1.0, Burn In Test w/o Format FD00006
2. Disk Manufacturing Test Rev. 0 Date 7/82 six options: Drive Select Test Ver. 1.0, Board Compatibility Test Ver. 0.00, Alignment Test Ver. 0.06,
Interchange Read Test Ver. 0.02, Disk Manufacture Read Test Ver. 0.13, ROM Revision Check (No Rev.)
The second cartridge does not say for which types of drives, but I could not get any of the tests to run on any of my 1050's, and I don't have a 810 drive anymore.

How many types of SALT/ Super SALT did Atari put out? I have two different ones: 400/800 Standalone System Test Rev. 2.05, dated 1982
And a: 400/800/XL Part number FD100335 Rev. A, dated 1983

Very nice! I've downloaded and printed them! I'll put them in my docs collection.
Thanks,

Looks like manterola beat me to the punch. Anyway, as manterila asked, are you having problems with your 850?

I don't have a 2nd 850 to swap parts from, so maybe I should just order a set of 5x 3086,and 2x LM349...
Did you ever get your 850 working?

If anyone knows can tell what revision I have it would be greatly appreciated.
Check back tonight and I'll let you know. I don't know why the 850 fascinates me more than the computers, but it does!

Any help appreciated.
I will have a look at it today and let you know by tonight.

I was looking through my 800 manuals (Field Service manual & others) and I found a keyboard matrix that made me dizzy with all the lines for every possible
key press combination. All I wanted was to know which wires from the ribbon cable ran to which keys. Out comes the DMM and off comes the cover of the
800; and here is the actual traces from the ribbon cable to each key. I wasn't concerned about any combinations of key presses. This is a very low level table
only showing which key traces go to which wires in the ribbon cable. Anyway here is the file in both Word 10 (docx) and PDF formats...

Maybe just a small PCB with a female connection on both ends?

Why not buy an Ape Link? It makes a good connector between two male SIO cables. I have also seen 5 foot long SIO cables. The only
female SIO ends I've ever seen are all PC mounted. You might ask Brad at Best Electronics if he has anything like that.

Sorry. I had just come off a thread talking about Rambo upgrades. What I meant was Newell's RAMROD OS board.

I called Premmagnetics Inc today. They are really nice people! But the best part is that they can duplicate, in house, any type of transformer if you send them a
working transformer (it's not cheap). So, I've boxed up a good one and I'll drop it in the mail to them tomorrow. I will let you know when I hear from them.
Thanks for the tip,

The definitely feel different, but, at the same time, also sturdy and durable (provided that it has not been used too much, like checking for no glazing on space-bar). You cannot re-enforce them as shown on the above link (because white plungers have longer travel, thus fully retracting into their sockets), but the white plungers' walls seem (to me) a bit thicker than the green ones.
More on this, soon...
THAT is a very interesting Thread. I have two Stack Pole and two Hi Tek 800's. One has a RAMBO card, one has 288K of RAM and two are modified to use external self amplified speakers.
But all have sticking keys. This would be a wonderful fix for my Stack Pole keyboards!

Thank you TrekMD. I haven't been to the Coral Gables in 46 years. I thought we had big cockroaches in Texas, then I saw a 'palmetto bug' as you call them.
I couldn't believe my eyes, that thing was about 4 inches long.

On 4/18/2021 at 6:02 PM, gilsaluki said:DavidMil. Welcome back. I remember you purchased one of the 1027 Printer heads that was produced a few years back. I bought two of them. One tore apart almost immediately. The other, the letters were so ill-formed that It was not really usable. I wish someone would come up with a solution as I love that printer (my first for the Atari 8). Anyway, did your's work properly? Are you still using it? What were the results. I don't blame the guy that sold them, he tried and said there was no guarantee. I accept that.
Sorry I haven't responded sooner, but to be honest, I plum forgot your post. Again, SORRY...
To answer your question, I bought two of them. One lasted about 5 minutes, but this was my fault as I'd bent one of the thin metal 'teeth' above the printer heads. The other
one lasted several days (I wrote a little basic program to print the ABC's in both caps and lower case and set it to run 999 more times). It went through fine the first time and
I guess I should have left well enough alone. But I wanted to stress test it, and so the printhead failed somewhere close to "Loop=880" the second time through the test.
I bought a third one from Irgendwer, and have used it as little as possible. It is still working after a couple of years, but only runs a few minutes each month at most. Do you
or anyone else know if he ever did any more production runs of the printheads? I guess I should move this over to the old 1027 topic...

2 hours ago, Faicuai said:And Stackpole (GREEN plungers), at end of 800 life-cycle.
My 1983 (Made-in-USA) 800 comes with them, they have a super smooth and silky feel, requiring very minimal pressure and vertical travel for key-contact, especially if compared to my 1980 CTIA HiTek white-plungers (but quite sturdy) keyboard, which require more pressure and vertical travel. You tend to hit the latter harder for this simple reason.
I didn't know that they ever made any other then the yellow ones. Any idea when they switched?

Mouser looked good at first but I'm not looking for matching Impedance transformers. But I did find a couple at Premmagnetics that look
promising. I sent them an email but haven't heard back yet. I'll call them in a couple of days if I don't hear anything.
Thank you BillC,

Man are we talking about a long time ago! When I try to remember that far back all I see is cobwebs... I did get out my old, 'ASSEMBLER EDITOR
USER'S MANUAL' (which has a copyright date of 1980 Rev. 1), and it has almost two full pages of saving and loading files from a cassette tape and
about 2/3 of a page talking about saving and loading DOS 1 files.

Can Percom or ATR8000 use 1.2MB 5.25" drives?
in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Posted
There is a gentleman here in Houston that hooked up an an 8" drive to one of his ATR8000's and he said that he used a calendar to record
the data transfer rate. Sometimes we learn things the hard way don't we Nezgar...
