  1. Thanks Jeff! Just added your copy: http://www.atarimania.com/utility-atari-400-800-xl-xe-backup-master-_31940.html
  2. The OP will be highly disappointed if he thinks it is this game. The title on the Atari is called Wild West, not Dynamite Dan.
  3. Don't forget Boulder Bombers (it was left out because I hadn't linked the game to the genre).
  4. It would also be interesting to know what the absolute first third-party titles were. I'd put some money on the Sears / Image Computer Products games.
  5. Thanks! Would you be willing to make a .wav file of the program or maybe lend the cassette so this can be done?
  6. Most of the titles are just scattered in various PD collections, sometimes under different names.
  7. OK, the Expando-Vision cartridge is this one: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-expando-vision-control-smoking-calm-nerves_1906.html It would be interesting to compare the two dumps to check whether the versions are exactly the same or see what prevents ianoid's ROM from booting.
  8. Are the two Color Sounds and Ripper 16K programs or actually 8K?
  9. The Expando-Vision system lets you create subliminal messages using the hardware device which comes with the first cartridge: http://www.atarimania.com/game-atari-400-800-xl-xe-expando-vision-weight-control-exercise_1909.html The cartridges all boot straight away, the hardware device is only required when you create the messages. There are eight programs but only four have been dumped so it would be great if this turns out to be a title that is missing.
  10. This is just fantastic, you undug some long lost prototypes! Thanks SO MUCH!
  11. That would be great. Although the program is available, it hasn't been archived in its original format: http://www.atarimania.com/demo-atari-400-800-xl-xe-crystals_27840.html
  12. Latest update:List_of_Missing_Software_Version_1.5.pdf There are discussions on a wider scale to determine how to make things more efficient and more user-friendly.
  13. Thanks for maintaining such high standards, the programs are really outstanding!
  14. Hmmm... Why choose the horrible "Cracked by Kilroy" file and not the original disk version with cool loading screen? The font would need an overhaul as well. Unless somebody is working on a 1942 conversion, it would also be nice to have the game behave like the original, that is begin with stage 32.
  15. Is anybody familiar with this developer from the UK? Anyone have the demo disk that is mentioned?
  16. I can't remember whether the copy on our site comes from an original or some other source. Anyway, I have an original as well and it'll be dumped with some other disks when time permits. The game is uncommon but not super rare either so I don't believe there will be a shortage of copies.
  17. Thanks but it's not needed, the game has been safely archived and is 100% verified (just not uploaded yet). Unless you have something unbelievably rare not referenced anywhere, please rely on the list first.
  18. Thanks, I already picked up the program the first time you posted it, it's just that it has been in the queue for very long (that's why it doesn't appear in the list).
  19. It depends. For original disks, you need something else if there is protection. If you have copies, just an .atr made with APE will do as, in that case, it's just a matter of "rescuing" software titles that we'll likely never find as originals. If people just have a large collection of .atr files that they made from personal copies from back in the day, please just post them here without looking for anything special, we'll sort through the disks and see if we can find anything. Thanks!
  20. Not being a technical guy, I can't answer some of your questions in detail but, to me, a better image would be one that has bugs / inconsistencies fixed due to more precise equipment being used (such as KryoFlux) or once proper comparisons between two disks of the same title have been made. You'll find all the .atx files work but most aren't 100% verified. Preservation work has moved forward these past years and disks / defects can be studied more accurately nowadays.
  21. Note that there are likely better .atx images for most of the titles. My advice is to download files from Farb's Atari Software Preservation Initiative torrent as our disks are probably outdated. Due to how preservation has progressed these past years, our VAPI page will need to be modified or taken down soon.
