  1. As previously mentioned, the connector itself doesn't matter. What matters is the video style. Like I said earlier, we can send old fashion analog VGA through that micro-HDMI without using TMDS and essentially bypass the requirement of licensing because we aren't using "HDMI" video.

Pardon my ignorance, but would USB-C work instead of micro-HDMI? There doesn't seem to be any licensing issues with the former.

  2. I started with CentOS (RedHat), but found that it was not updated enough. It's main goal is stability and backwards compatibility - too many packages were always out of date for my liking. I then went onto Fedora and have stuck with it, although my gripe there is the opposite. It's too cutting edge. I wish there were something that was in between the two.

As for systemd, I find it more intuitive than the old mechanism. But then again I don't do too much with it. I mostly use it for setting up services to run at startup.

  3. I never had a PEB (or tape drive) back in the day, so I am not familiar with all of the different ways to run programs either. When I got my NanoPEB I remember going through some of the same frustration.

The Nano has a built in disk manager that may or may not do what you want. The manual is attached.

All you need is Extended Basic, and to have the correct disk mounted as DSK1. If this is the case when you select XB from the boot menu, the Nano's DM will run. You should see something like what is in the attached screenshots.

You can get a disk catalog, or run some programs. I don't know if it will do everything needed, but you can certainly give it a shot.

In any case, I'm more of a cart guy so I don't mess around with disks too much. In this respect the Finalgrom has really been my menu system.

  4. If you are looking for a fat PS3, there are some things to watch out for.

Only the PS3's with 4 USB ports on the front can play PS2 games. If it has two ports, then no PS2.

Model numbers for the PS2 compatible fats start with: CECHA, CECHB, CECHC, and CECHE. "A" and "B" models are most compatible, but generate the most heat. Thus they tend to overheat the most. "C" and "E" models are least compatible but generate a little less heat, and so are less prone to overheat than the first two models.

  5.

The excel spreadsheet will be sufficient. I did notice one thing, and it is likely something you can not control, but I am guessing a CR/LF or maybe just a CR is not being captured properly as I see words with no spaces appearing at intervals of what would be an End-Of-Line spot.

If it is nothing obvious to resolve, then do not worry about it as it will still be easy to interpret the contents of the messages which is more than what we have.

Otherwise, you have made a giant step towards reclaiming some historical messages.

    Thanks.

The body text is the raw data, so may be missing one or the other (CR or LF).

I have included both formats, in case something was lost in translation to the Excel file:

    out-full.zip - the Excel file

comp.sys.ti.zip - the files that were pulled down using the script from GitHub

Edit: I forgot to mention - Excel will complain about unreadable characters when opening the file. You can still open it and Excel will strip those out.

    out-full.zip

    comp.sys.ti.zip

  6. I have run the script that you reference from github, and the end result is I have 15,000+ messages stored in text files in RFC822 format. I wrote some code to parse these messages and put them into Excel format. I will include here a sample: two RFC822 message files, and an Excel file containing the fields you requested from those two messages.

Let me know which format makes sense for you - the raw message files or the Excel file. I will post all the data once we figure out what makes sense.
