  1. All this talk about 7800 graphics makes me want to more Crystal Castles and Pengo sprites.
  2. I thought you would've asked him about Double Dragon.
  3. I think he's considered an idiot who set his goals a bit too high. It's funny the posters here put more effort in this than Hardwork ever did.
  4. I love Escape Velocity, I do remember I had problems playing in Classic Mode on my G5 but Escape Velocity Override worked fine.
  5. It does sound you would give the Taco Bell version of Asteroids a shot. I got a CD from my niece and nephew and tried that out and I do love the glow effects that game has.
  6. Sure, MAME runs the ROMs and all but I always thought it really needed a pinball kicker for that thump.
  7. I was wondering, can these controllers work with the 2600 two button hacked games?
  8. I believe this has the answer
  9. I've tried it Stella and it's a lot easier to see the ghosts are different colors.
  10. Since this thread is back from the dead, I used to fry Crystal Castles to get unlimited lives. That only worked until you got extra life then it just plays like a regular game.
  11. Here's two Solaris speedrun videos. While the player doesn't go to every sector, I suppose you can say he saves most of the the planets by finishing the game early. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JLdalkHLW0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXeH1Oo13L8 Since you like Solaris so much, you could try The Last Starfighter, the prototype version of Solaris.
  12. There was another bugged sector in the second part of the game. I recall it was a purple colored map and it had three minefields at the bottom of the map. In that one, I would destroy the fleets but not the minefields, leave to the right and save the planet there and comeback to the other map and the allied planet would be gone. As strange as this sounds, if I cleared the minefields as well as the fleets before I left the map, the planet is still there. There is a tip I find useful, use a second joystick. That's because you can switch to the map while you're docked at a base, the game is paused. You can use this to save time and move faster.
  13. I think it is. Although, my personal best was maybe nine allied planets saved. I should also note that Solaris had some annoying bugs that could cost you a planet or two. For example, in the red sector with the allied planet on the upper right hand corner would sometimes get destroyed even you destroy all the fleets that threaten it. I mean I would destroy all the fleets, leave, come back a little later and find the planet gone and the sector's a red zone.
  14. I did consider doing something similar if I ever got my hands on a Flashback 2 because I got a busted 2600. The idea of showing my friends that flashback with a working cart slot would've been fun.

@ Trebor: So, the correct answer is always: "It comes out when it comes out".
  16. Hmm, it would've been nice to talk about League of Legends or those free MMORPG's.
  17. I don't think there is a program that you can hack ROMs with for Mac OSX other than hex editors. I just tried hacking recently and hex editors and the Stella debugger are the only way for now.
  18. I do know of MacMESS but I never really used it due to it having an incorrect pallet for it's 7800 games. I would be willing try a pro system emulator that works on a Mac. I know there's more than a few Mac users and developers that would want to use the pro system emulator on a Mac.
  19. That actually exists? That would've made tweaking those sprites on B*nQ a bit easier.
  20. So the idea of hacking or remaking the Karateka into a better game would be a popular idea?
  21. I was wondering if any of you guys ever played the original Street Fighter. That game too had some pretty horrible controls . Now for fighting games that the 7800 can do, I would say Yie Ar Kung Fu.
  22. So how does it compare with the Knight Rider thread?
  23. I think you might have been a little crazy to let your nephew play that game. Even back in the 80's that game was still considered super hard.
  24. I think it would be an interesting project to hack Double Dragon in it's sequel. After all, that game isn't that much different from the original.
  25. So a Harmony cart and a 2600 modded with a 6502, wouldn't that be a system suited for developing games?
