Wow, I don't see too many programmers that use a Mac often.
-
I suppose you could just try using Misfit MAME. I should note for some games you have find hacked ROMs to allow for high score saves. I believe Frogger has a high score hack to save high scores . Check it out.

Oh, so that's why the tanks in Combat move in turbo speed when you hit left and right buttons. I've always wondered about that.
-
However, when sprites intersect the one right most in the Display List will overwrite the sprite underneaths intersecting parts with its background colour as well as the foreground colours. For example, imagine two sheets of black paper with a character drawn on each. When you partially put one sheet over the other thats the effect you'll see on screen.
Does that mean you can make a character with two overlapping sprites look like it has more colors than it was just a single sprite?

I remember somebody doing that with 7800 Centipede in co-op mode. He said it lets him double the firepower when the two shooters are merged together.

Oh I got another idea.. how about hacking Pengo to have the original Popcorn music?

Which version of Popcorn? That's the most covered instrumental song ever.

-
So these are pirated versions? Now I'm curious to see how different the pirated joysticks are from the real thing.

There's a Ralph's (Grocery Store) in San Diego with FB2's as well. No idea if they are + or not.
Which Ralph's?
Seconded. I would like a few for myself and one to mod.

This thread might be of some interest.
I do recall, vdub_bobby I think, talking about 7800 games could use the C button, if programed or hacked to use it. I also remember GroovyBee saying it's possible to program a game to use the six buttons on that particular Genesis controller.
-
I think the only button that works is the B button. A and C buttons don't work. If you want to have a 2nd button that works, you have to mod the Genesis controller.
I know games can be hacked or programmed to use the C button.

I think Dig Dug should get a sound upgrade. I like the game and all but it sounds too much like the 2600 version.

If you got so-so paint program you could just the canvas size to make the width equal the height. Then all you have to do is move the pic left or right until you feel it's just right and crop it.
-
I think that black label version needs the artwork to more "square".
-
It might help to say if you use a PC or Mac.
-
If you're looking for pics I found some. These could work for you.

The first one is from the 1981 Lord of the Rings calender. This one is "enchanced" pic from the movie. The second is poster art for the movie without the title.
-
You seem to want that box. It's going to be bit difficult without a better pic or the original artwork. The logo and the red circle can be duplicated but not so much the hobbits cowering in fear. I suppose you could different artwork like other art from the Bakshi movie.
-
God I love those "Dark riders" on the box. Strangely I forgot the names!
The Ringwraiths, the Nazgul and I think they were also known as the Black Riders and the Nine. I never did understand why they had grey cloaks instead of black.
-
Somebody else did make another The Lord of the Rings homebrew game. I haven't heard of the Tolkien estate beating down Atariage's door to take down that homebrew.

Sorry about making a big deal about that. I just don't remember seeing that cart before. The game sure but not the cart.
-
Nice, I find it interesting on what kind of cart those pics use.

I've seen some data that makes it possible for Asteroids to have multicolor. You don't modify the ROMs but rather the video hardware. I'm sure it's possible to have Battlezone with multicolor.
I know I've seen a program that allows the people to modify the levels but not add new characters.

A 7800 emulator with a machine language debugger, which works on LINUX or MAC.Speaking as a Mac user, the only 7800 emulators on the Mac I know that can debugger are MacMESS and Mac SDLMESS. MacMESS is pretty outdated but the debugger might be of some use. This has a little more info about Mac SDLMESS.

You're lucky somebody is making the Harmony Cart 2 for the 7800. It's like CC2 but more features and it's planned to be made with such numbers that the buyer doesn't have to spend hundreds of dollars to get one.
I'm glad opcode is still working Donkey Kong Arcade.

What do YOU code on?

I was talking about the programmers around here. I use xcode too but it's just to roll my own MacMAME.
