I've seen concept art for that. It looks like a 2600 Jr. on top of a 7800 when attached. It's just missing all the switches but still has the 7800 cart port. However, the finished product might look very different.
-
You just stick the expansion module in the cart port. There were plans for a CPU for it but it's being handled by somebody else. @ opcode This Super Scroll mode by GroovyBee mentioned, doesn't that make creating scrolling games like Super Mario Bros easier? I know it was mentioned by somebody else that the 7800 strength's were making games like the Legend of Zelda and Space Harrier. A stock 7800 can do Super Mario Bros. but it required a lot of work to so.
-
@ opcode With a YM2151, a POKEY, and a TIA, that's I believe 14 sound channels. That's a lot for a 80's console. It's pretty obvious you have big plans for the 7800 soundwise. I would love to see Pengo with that kind of sound.
-
The 7800 can use a YM2151 sound chip? I heard of people suggest using it. How many sound channels does this chip have?
-
Since it's going to use a Pokey and the sounds for 8-bit version of Donkey Kong are available. I would think this version of DK would sound a lot better than what we got.
-
Thanks for the replies. I got to say, the Jedi council must be big fans of Donkey Kong for that to happen.
-
Oh, that's quite nice. I was wondering, would the millipede have moving legs? That's what bothered me about several millipede ports, the lack of moving legs for the millipede. Would possible port of this would also have a trakball option? I know Kenfused did a Centipede hack that worked with trakball controls.
-
I know you explained that the 7800 version was a port of a port, plus the remember somebody looking at the source and found the game was larger than expected for game of that size. I think Donkey Kong was 48k. The Millipede game you're thinking of working on, I think will look closer to the arcade version than Centipede. I did mockup of that game too but I was never satisfied with the way DDT bombs looked. It was impossible to work in "DDT".
-
That mockup looks a lot like the mockup I made of the pie factory some years ago.
-
I think it might be a good idea to explain what these modes can do and what are the limitations. I myself have a rather vague idea on what the 7800 can do.
-
I think the mockup screenshots are just for fun. I do them myself as a hobby.

I've heard hints something like this is being worked. I thought this expansion module was suppose to address the 7800's lack of a POKEY and RAM.
-
I've seen concept art for the casing of the module. It kind of looks like 2600 jr. with no switches sitting on a 7800.
-
It sounds like that packing this game with expansion module might be good idea. I mean the module sounds great but without any games made for it, it might not sell as well.

Is this dude the second coming of HardWork?
-
Wow, that means we can make our own Knight Rider carts sans the actual game.
-
I was talking about adding a third button. It's just adding that other button that needs that resistor to a Genesis controller might be a bit of a problem.
-
All Sega Genesis controllers work but not all the buttons will work. I do remember somebody saying that it's possible for a game to use two of the buttons with the right programming.
-
Actually, mazes that in hacks of Pac-man work the same way. The ghosts still go though the walls.
-
The reason I brought that up is because it's one of the most requested update/hacks for 7800. Players were pretty disappointed with the sound and the lack of the pie factory.
-
I have a suggestion. Can you put that bump sound when the ghost monsters bump into each other in the first intermission of Ms. Pac-man? So when are Super Pac-man and Jr. Pac-Man are going to pokey sound?
-
You're developing for the 7800? Cool! So does that mean we're finally going to get a superior version of Donkey Kong? I think you should ask GroovyBee about that. I think there's a lot you want to ask him about.

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. -

I've Stella 3.1.1 for Mac OSX and I tried playing Kangaroo and Moon Patrol and the characters just keep jumping when I play. I've tried reading the help file and I just didn't get other the other fire button is.
