  1. Ah, I'm starting to see the wisdom of these devices being made separately. At least I don't have to buy a CC2 anymore. Plus having a high score feature built in is big plus for me. I never did like the way High Score cart connected to the system and the game cart for aesthetic and safety reasons.
  2. I had a feeling that somebody was going to ask that question. Still an answer should be interesting.
  3. That may be so but would YOU want to start up a business with this guy?
  4. I was wondering, does having a POKEY make possible to use Sega Genesis controllers with a lots of buttons?
  5. For Ms. Pac-Man, I think the colors are tweaked to look more like the arcade version. The ghost monsters eyes look bigger.
  6. I've thought of another game that could use a second button. Kangaroo. While the arcade game has the same controls as the 2600 game, I've always found the game harder than it should be. With second button to jump, I feel that gameplay would be a lot less annoying.
  7. This two button hack is such a great idea. I remember something similar can be done with the 7800 but I know it needs a modified Genesis controller. How about two button hack for Moon Patrol? One button fires and the other one jumps.
  8. Although my views on most of the posters here are neutral, has anyone realized that 30 something/40 something dudes talking to 13 kid in this board in that way is getting into a weird area?
  9. I'm think this thread just serves as a warning to those who talk big about programming but have nothing to show for it.
  10. I ran the current version of MAME OS X and it started looking for game binaries. I don't have any on my computer at the moment so I'll need to copy the last compilation I obtained years ago that comprises about six CDs. Even if it doesn't have a slick front-end, it's still nice to have a current version of MAME in OS X. ..Al I'll admit MAME OS X can be hard to use but SDL version of MAME I could never get to using because the whole thing seems rather arcane to use to me.
  11. MAME OSX is just a version of MAME that works on a Mac without the frontend. It sure isn't MacMAME. I remember the guy who made said it was Universal build. I still have a copy of the last version of MacMAME just for compiling for MisfitMAME games.
  12. I remember there was some talk about the 7800 doing SMB a while ago. It boiled down to, "yes, it can but it's harder to program such a game for 7800 than on the NES". Then somebody suggested that it's easier to program a Zelda or a Space Harrier clone than a SMB clone on the 7800
  13. I would think using a keypad would make playing Defender/Stargate easier to play. Of course that would mean taking turns with the controllers on two player games.
  14. I take it, there's a not so secret project that we'll know about eventually.
  15. @ Propane13, I got question about the colors. How many does this game use?
  16. An interesting project. I do think the game should the driving controllers because if Kenfused can make Centipede use a trakball then Arkanoid could use those driving controllers too.
  17. How different is the prototype from the regular game? I think I remember MAMEDEV or somebody looking for that game.
  18. Ah, that cheat. That was put in there by the programmer so he could get the hi score whenever he found a Galaga game in an arcade. It may be cheap but you can get pretty far with that cheat.
  19. The only things in the game that could be considered interesting were the easter eggs. I remember there was a biplane that was worth an extra ship. It turns out you can shoot silver enemies but it took a while with bullets. The was a squad of five enemies in a V formation that had to use missiles to destroy. Then there was a hidden ground target.

    PONG!

Hopefully, that's not all talk. I don't think many of us would that project to end up like a certain video game project based on an 80's tv show with that black car in.
  21. I hope the player character has lots of options for customizing. I've grown tired of prefap characters of JRPGs.
  22. I think this is what you're looking for: http://ionpool.net/arcade/tempest_code_project/tempest_code_project.html
  23. Well anyway, I realized there was another hack I've been thinking of and it's now doable thanks to this program.
  24. The ghosts share a single set of sprites, though they have their own individual colors that can be set. You have to set the in game colors and the intermission colors separately. -Jeff Ah, that's too bad they all share same set of sprites. I would've been great if each had their own set of sprites. I had an idea of Gargamel head being chased by smurf heads.
  25. I dunno, this plot allows for the use of characters that can use broad swords and hand grenades. Just think of the crazy weapon combos that can happen. Cavemen using rifles and the like.
