  1. Is this why you release the sources, so that other programmers can realize the potential the hardware that was never reached during those systems' lifetimes?
  2. Well, after working on improving graphics on a soon to be released homebrew, I know 7800 is capable of ports that look pretty close to many 80's games. It's too bad there's not a lot people working on the 7800. Im coming....promise....just too much on the plate right now. If you ever program something for the 7800, I would be interested what would come up with. I might even contribute some graphics for your project.

  4. Like the other guy said there's MAME for arcade emulation. I think there's over 2000 games for MAME including a sequel to Crazy Climber
  5. The thing is that me and the original poster are both Mac users. That may explain why you're "missing" that folder. Still that CHD subfolder might be true for this version of MAME too. I'm not in the mood to get that game tonight.
  6. You're in luck. I happen to download MAME OS X and checked it out. The CHD seems to go into the "Hard Disk Images" folder and ROMs just go the "ROMs" folder.
  7. It's one of those arcade games that used a hard drive to work. As I recall you have to have the ROMs AND the CHD in order to play those games. The ROMs go the ROM folder and the CHD file goes in the CHD folder I think. It's been while since fiddled with that game.
  8. Since you're giving away sources for those games, I was wondering if you had the source for Ms. Pac-Man. I had this crazy idea that Ms. Pac-Man could be somehow turned into Pengo.

  10. What version of MAMEosx are you running?
  11. How about a game similar to Haunted House or Adventure with larger rooms to explore. The exit to the next room wouldn't be seen easily and would require exploring that room to found out where the door is or some item you need to win the game.

  14. So would that make trying to port Dandy a bit pointless since it was already done as Dark Chambers?
  15. This hopefully explains the gameplay: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Driller
  16. Think that this will explain a bit about this game: http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8773 I think this game began as an updated version of Dig Dug but it became something else.
  17. Yeah, I did wonder if the proposed 7800 trackball was just a joystick that happen to have a ball or was it a real trakball. The source seems to prove that it was a real trackball.
  18. Dandy? Isn't that what Dark Chambers is based on?
  19. There's a trakball for the 7800? I think that never got built, I've seen the schematics for that. I suppose one could modify an existing Atari trakball controller to have a second button that works with the 7800. Such a controller might come in handy for a 7800 version of Missile Command or Crystal Castle.
  20. From the album: Bakasama's mockup screenshots

This mockup was inspired by the idea that this game could be reworked as "Ms. Pac-Man" and other pac man games. I've actually worked on other mazes. Hopefully, I'll get those finished and posted eventually.

    Pengo for the 7800

From the album: Bakasama's mockup screenshots

This a mockup of Pengo for the 7800. I used and edited pieces of a Pac-man screenshot from the Pac-Man Collection. Now why Pac-Man? Simple, the arcade hardware for both Pac-Man and Pengo are very similar and gameplay is somewhat similar. It may be possible to hack Pac-Man in Pengo but that would require a major rewrite and hacking the code to get something that looks and plays like Pengo.

  24. I think alot of us would've like to know that little bit of info 20 years ago. Still, that's very useful. I got try that.
