Why not use "Maid 'n Action"? It uses maid and action. It also sounds like "Maiden Action", "Maid in Action", and "Maid and Action"

Keep us informed.....sounds exciting
Oops, I meant FAKE screenshot. I'm not a programmer but I'm pretty good at figuring what a game might look like on the 7800.
-
I've thought of a Berzerkish game game for the 7800. In terms of graphics, Frenzy is very much doable but the sound might pose a problem.
I've always favored Frenzy over Berzerk simply because the mazes had more variety and you can do more than just blow up robots. Some mazes you could stop all the the robots by shooting the electric globes, some others there was a machines that kept making new robots to annoy you. There was a even mazes where you can't shoot the walls.
I made screenshot of Frenzy as it might look like on the 7800 but I don't know where that went.

I'd definitely buy one of those! When you say nice enhancements to the Flashback 2, do you mean making it have a cartridge port built in possibly this time around. If so pretty cool
He could mean the ability to upload ROMs with a UBS cable or a version with even more games preloaded.

Well I checked the arcade ROM with MacMAME. The bullets are four colors and that's including the mask. If the bullets' colors can be changed, I'll submit some mockups. I'll say the bullets on the 7800 Xevious kind of bothered me because they looked "flat" to me.

@Atariboy2660
You think with this technique that your proposed Kangroo game might be doable now
-
I got some questions, can the color of the bullets be changed and how many colors can it be if the first question is yes.
-
The game is technically impressive.
However, I really have to be i nthe mood to play it.
Also, has anyone ever finished the game without cheating?
I think there are very people that can beat that game. I myself got far as the map before the Solaris one. I wouldn't mind a Solaris hack that let you get more four extra ships.

I like were this is going and would love to give it more playtime if it was playable in mess...
Yeah it does suck, it worse for Mac users since we have no choice and stuck with MESS.
-
I got a question for you programmers, can this idea of creating "illusion" color be applied to other consoles like the 7800?
-
does any 2600 versions have the voice synthesis? I wanna hear the "intruder alert intruder alert" and "stop the humanoid!". I tried the MAME roms but sound doesnt work with my emulator

I think that's because you don't have the sound samples that go with that game.

Robotron!
What is the closest thing to robotron for the 2600, anyway?
I heard that Atari was working on Robotron for the 2600 but it got canned because there was too much flicker.

I'm just saying it's a joystick with a ball with none of the analog control.
-
I think that's a Wico track ball but it's not a real track ball.

Putting the GUI in a separate download from the core is annoying enough (see my rant about mplayer for Windows), but having it named almost the same as the core without an explicit "I AM THE GUI! RIGHT HERE!" is even more annoying. Even just an extra <HR> tag would have been enough clue for me to figure it out.
I know of your pain, I never understood how to get SDL versions of MacMAME and MacMESS to run. Making KOF 2003 and many Neo Geo hacks are brainddead easy to complie in regular MacMAME than getting that SDL program to work.
Since you're ranting about the frontend being separate from the program, I bad news for you, that's the future of those programs.

Despite a few obvious problems, this show a lot promise.

Not true. The company that became Namco was formed in 1955 to produce children's arcade rides. The name "Namco" was adopted in 1971. In 1974, they purchased Atari's Japansese distributor and entered the video game market. In 1978 they began to make their own games.
Wasn't NAMCO's original name "Nihon Amusement Machine COmpany"?

I've played the MESS version of this and I got to say waves of flying enemies made my thumb tired. I was wondering what kind of changes are you going to make to this hack.
-
well, if there was a version for MESS I would be able to comment on it.

- Speaking of instant replay...I think the myth about the instant replay possible only every five levels has to do with something I've just now noticed: the watermelons are on every fifth level. As you don't run out of watermelon, you can just stand on one and wipe out chefs up until the last drop from the cone hits -- in fact, that's a strategy I've been using: go to the watermelon nearest the cone, and just spend the duration of the level constantly hitting chefs with chunks-o-melon. Since instant replays tend to happen on the screens that take a longer time (and some near-death experiences), people tend to see instant replays on the watermelon levels, since they probably spend more time on those.
Dan Boris figured out how the instant replay really works. It's really a stalling for time and suviving some close calls. Getting the replay is just very easy in the watermelon waves. It's a bit a more tricky on a non-watermelon level. The thing is once you get an replay, you can't get another one for the next four waves.

@Baksama - It's funny, I was actually thinking of trying to add some of the NES mazes at one point, but I decided against it.
Thanks!
Well, that's too bad but at least I can play the NES version anyway. It would've been cool to play the mini and bizzard mazes on the 7800. Keep up the good work.

What sound chip should I use?

It may not be practical in cart form but I suppose it could be done as a pass thru cart or add on board.
