At least the museum 'skylab' story was a nice touch. When was the last time you heard that old space station brought up? I forgot all about that thing.I'm sure he stores his skylab fragment on the shelf next to his assortment of sasquatch butt hairs.
Don't forget his stacks of Susan B. Anthony coins and his cans of Tab and Bubble Up.

What still amazes me though, is that gamepads like for NES and SMS are actually layouted for left-handed usage. Do the japanese mainly use their left hands?
Naw, most of them are right handed just like the rest of the world.

I think there's three Huge Materia quests. The All summon, the All (Magic?), and the other one I can't remember the name of. I remember the all summon was hard to do and if you didn't find all the summon materia, you had to start all over again.

I think I know the game you're talking about. I think it was called Blackout or something. Anyway, development of that game stopped when the programmer disappeared. I know there's a bin of that game somewhere.

Yeah, the playability really blows. I much rather play Yie Ar Kung Fu than Street Fighter.

I've played the 6 button version. It's easier to play than the 2 button version but still the controls are alot harder than SF2. You would not believe how hard is to get a Hadouken.

LOTR
in Atari 2600
I'm curious what people think is uncomplete about the current ROM that's out there? It seems pretty much finished to me.

Well, I suppose we'll find out when Tempest gets a copy of those protos.

Nice, but it really needs a Parker Bros label instead......Lucky for you I made this some years ago and redone with new label line

Just a nitpick, why in the hell are the Nazgul wearing white?! Are their black cloaks in the wash?

We have Christmas Carts, Donkey Claus, and the Elf Kaboom, are there any Easter hacks out there? It should not be hard to hack a jumping bunny around. Any for what games would be for a hack?It shouldn't be too hard for Easter Bunny Kaboom.
Well my idea was to have multicolored eggs or bombs but I like the idea of exploding bunnies better.

I never really figured how to do it myself but I usually got the replay by doing a watermelon level and just throwing the food anywhere those chefs were. I just waited until the ice cream almost melted and finished the level. That's how I got the replay but I rarely got a replay on the other levels. It seems to me you could only do a replay once every five levels.

I sense another 7800 hack in the future.
-
The guy goes that extra step by making light up cartriage cases.

Can't agree there. I have it on the XEGS and I have it on the 7800. The XE's graphics are better (even though the 7800 SHOULd have sharper graphics). The control is SIGNIFICANTLY more responsive on the XE than the 7800, which has horrible delays. The gameplay is deeper too.
Another I remember about 7800 Karateka is that you CAN'T kill that punk ass bird but can in the other versions.

A game that revolves around poo? Uh, you would be suprised there's a market for that kind of game. I know a game like that would sale pretty well in Japan and Korea.
Checking that hack with poo, I think there's alot 2600 games can be worked around poo.

I got a suggestion. If you use an 2600 emulator and if that emulator has the ability to take screenshots. You can just take screenshot of a game, like Combat. You can just use that screenshot as a canvas to make your mockup shots.

I bet he has a Neo Geo somewhere in there.
If he has the Apple/Bandai Pippin I would be very impressed.
-
I use MacMESS simply I don't have any other choice. I recall that MESS doesn't do colors accurately but the games work otherwise.
I know the 7800 uses a BIOS file, so you may want to find that for the emulator you want to use.

Well, I'm going to work hard over the next year or two to remedy that imbalance ...Yeah, you would think there's be more homebrew activity, but the 2600 is king.
... but I think the 7800's missing authentication key was a major barrier to entry for many years, as was the relative lack of documentation (at least compared to the 2600). Now that the authentication issue has been resolved and Atari/GCC's internal documentation has been made public, we're finally beginning to see some exciting 7800 projects emerge (Beef Drop, Frogger, etc.)
You're working on some homebrew projects for the 7800? I love to see what you got planned. Given the games GCC made for the 7800, I find it a little odd that they never made Missile Command. I suppose it's a "been there, done that " kind of project.
I do think we're going to see more hacks before we see more homebrews simply because the homebrewers are still learning how to program for it.

It's just amazing how just making a little change on those ghost monsters just make the game look a lot better.
-
There is tons of documentation on the web about the 2600's graphics capabilities, including a bunch on AA.
And what do you mean by the "size of the game level"?
I think he's talking about the size of a game level in pixels.
-
I believe that is the fundamental flaw in your gamemaking philosophy. You have not clearly stated how the game plays nor provided any mock ups to help sell your idea. Your biggest selling point is making a quick buck from "this crappy game" and getting a great grade for your class? Get out, you uncultured heathen!
-
If you want the nudge feature, you might as well add the tilt feature. If you're going to add that without the tilt, it's going to make the game a bit too easy.
-
I have hit million once, the game flashes alot more when you hit million. It's very different from extra ball. It is very hard to get there but it's possible. Getting there is mainly how lucky one is.
I think I rather have a hack that changes the playfield.

atari mascot
in Atari 2600

I think before the crash Atari did have plans for a mascot. They were going to use Bentley Bear from Crystal Castles. I know I read this from an article a while ago. That's all I remember about that. Somebody may know more about this.
