I also like a good sports game, and that looks to be a pretty good one! One of the sports games I have is a copy of FIFA. While I'm not the biggest fan of football games anymore, that game was still pretty cool to play. A custom blue light? That may seem minor, but I love those little details on a console, it sounds cool! The SNES was, and always will be, a great console to many people for differing reasons. Whether we emulate, collect cartridges, play Super Mario Kart for some multiplayer action, or lose ourselves in an RPG for hours on end, we all love the console, and that's why we're here!

Everyone is welcome on the Atariage forums, no matter what hardware or software we own. What unites us in this specific thread is our love of the SNES, and I really don't want what connects us to end up creating a huge gulf in the community. I really am starting to like the sound of the SD2SNES the more I hear about it! I did listen to some CD-quality Mega Man X songs, and they were really impressive. The sound of a one-time investment for multiple games really entices me. Thanks to you all for pointing me in it's direction!

The SD2SNES may be useful, and worth reminding people of, but I would prefer if the posts on this forum were more than just 'this exists'. We are here to discuss the SNES, and the fact that the cartridges are expensive to buy is a key part of modern SNES collecting, and many people just like the feeling of owning the original cartridges, and have some dislike of unofficial emulation in general. I agree completely with your choices. Sim City, even today, is a great city builder, and laid the foundations for the genre in general. And, yes, it would of been cool if an FX chip was used for SF Alpha 2. With so many mentions of the SD2SNES, I may look into it, as it seems like a very good addition to any SNES fan's collection!

For me, it's less bitterness and more sadness, knowing that there will be a lot of games I want to play that I may never be able to. Unless Nintendo release an emulation console, like their doing with the NES (which, to be honest, I would totally be down for). I also did the same for some of the lesser-known games in my collection, bought them in the early 2000's. There was a market near me, where one of the stalls sold a small amount of SNES games, and I got one every once in a while. Sadly, it hasn't been there for years.

Thanks Anthony for the support! I have really found enjoyment in starting up my own thread, and talking about the SNES. It truly is a console that never loses it's enjoyment. I enjoy Star Fox/Starwing also. Really impressive graphics for a 16-Bit console, and addictive gameplay as well! The game has so many memories, I really can't imagine letting it go. Although I could do without the 16 number password screen. The horror when you lose the piece of paper you wrote it down on!

The UK's gaming culture was, for a long time, dominated by the PC market. Amiga, Amstrad, Commodore and many others were the source for gaming, as the PC's had the flexibility of also doing many non-gaming activities. The better-selling Mega Drive also contributes to the apparent rarity of SNES games here. I am in the category of those who hang on to expensive games: my copy of Mega Man X isn't going anywhere soon!

I just went onto YouTube and, wow, some of those soundtracks are amazing! Mega Man X has one of my favourite soundtracks of all time, and to hear it so faithfully updated is literal music to my ears. I, genuinely, had never heard of that game before. It certainly looks interesting, at the very least. I completely agree, but my sentiments lie in many 1993 games, as many of the games I had as a child were from that year. That year has two of my favourite ever games (Mega Man X and Starwing) Exactly the problem. There's just so much demand for the titles, the price is driven up immensely. My collection is rather small, and is missing many, many key games I would love to play, but I still enjoy the games I have.

That's quite the healthy collection, what sort of games do you have in it? I'd love to hear it! That seems to be a recurring theme in this thread: that SNES cartridges are so expensive. It is very unfortunate, because the only way to get the games cheaply is by sheer luck or emulation. Anyway, great choices with the games. I have a certain soft spot for Super Punch-Out. It's my favourite kind of gameplay: very simple and easy to pick up, but allows for so much depth in the mechanics, allowing for immense difficulty.

Yeah, that is worth it, but nothing can really beat owning the original cartridge. For anyone who just wants to game, though, the Everdrive is a very worthwhile investment. I love some of your picks for your favourite games. I used to spend hours on games like Super Mario Kart, especially playing split-screen. So many good memories. I also love replaying through older games, to just have a break from reality and revel in the nostalgia. While I'm not a fighting game person myself, that port of Street Fighter Alpha 2 really looks great, especially considering some of the hardware limitations it had to work with.

I do certainly agree with the choices of Mega Man X and Donkey Kong Country 2. Both are amazing platformers, but I remember being quite awful at DKC2. However, I personally haven't played any of the other Mega Man X games, as the cartridges are so expensive nowadays! That's one of the problems of collecting SNES games: they are pricy, especially over here in Britain.

As the title says, this thread is for discussing anything about the SNES or Super Famicom. From posts about games you've acquired or played recently, your collections, or any random thoughts about the platform, all are welcome here. Post do not have to be directly about the SNES, so anything relevant can be posted here. So, as a way to get this discussion rolling, I want to ask: what are your favourite SNES games? Mine would be Mega Man X (as the game has some of the best controls and level design of any platformer, in my opinion), and Wario's Woods (as it is just a great multiplayer puzzle game to play alongside a friend, and is fairly unique).

The Official NEO-GEO Thread!
Games Of Reference replied to fdurso224's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hello everyone! After my friend, Byron's Reviews, reccomended me this forum, and posted a video on ours on this thread, I decided to check it out. It seems like a very friendly place for game discussion, so I certainly will be about on the forums in the near future! I just want to say that I really appreciate the support my Modern Gaming or Retro Gaming video got. Thanks for your views on it, it has been nice getting the extra attention on the video. As for any NEO-GEO content; while I'm have no plans to do any videos specifically for the platform, I am going to do a video called: 'Do console specs matter?', in the future, which I feel is quite relevant to the NEO-GEO. I'm planning to release this video in just under a month, and, while it won't be the next video going up on my channel, I will be sure to post it here when it is uploaded. Again, thank you for the support.
