  1. Gregory DG,

Do you also have those overlays for the other Sesame Street games?

Is the Keyboard Controller better one to use?

It is for kids. The buttons are very large, making it easy for them to hit the correct one.

Hay, this Controller is for KIDS! Silly rabbit.

  2. Colorado Only long post about 1 store

I think this was a good store so I will post a very long discription of it.

I went to the Flea Market in Colorado Springs and found a place with a lot of loose 2600 carts. I found about 4 that I didn't have but I passed on them but the woman/girl there claimed that they had more at the store, so I went there:

They have loose 2600 carts at the store, and about the same or less then the Flea Market.

The ones at the store I saw that I don't have and I passed up are:

    Space Cavern 3

    infiltrate 3

    sky skipper 3

    gi joe 3

    fast eddie 4

    bermuda triangle 4

    gangster alley 4

    tac scan 3

    commando raid 2

a 4 switch system for $50 and (at Flea Market) a Vader for $50.

They did have a coleco system for $100, and they where selling NES systems for $50.

    At the store

in box 2600 games (re-shrink wrapped):

    Asteroids

    Dig Dug

    Video Pinball

    Night Driver

Pitfall (I should have got it)

    Joust

they also had two Epyx 500XJ joysticks for $5 and keyboard controller for $10

    Jaguar

    3 Jaguar systems for $30

    ton of loose carts

    and some cd

    and some boxed.

    Lynx:

2 systems for $100 and some games

    8-bit:

basic, dk, and Qix (I got that)

    5200:

loose carts they had where common and where $3 each

    I got a Frogger (rarity 2) and BuckRogers (3).

    7800

    only a loose Xevious

The Goodwill nearby to GameLand had 7800 Galaga.

    GameLand

  3. The bat in Adventure!

"I jumped!, I jumped!" (hitting the button just slightly too late)

Kid: "I want to play Atari"

Other family member: "too bad, I got the TV first!" :x

The black cover coming off the joystick and playing with the white stick.

    jittery paddles.

Not having a b-day or x-mas or money for that game you gotta have.

Knowing people could really impresses the "Mad Bomber," and never getting anywhere close!

  4. So then, it is just my bad luck that I can't find a 5200 console. I have found a few 2600 consoles, and I have found 2 7800 consoles ( I bought both)

    but never a 5200 :x

Ok sorry, just letting off steam.

  5. I think it is because people seem to get offended when someone hand holds them too much (I say mostly Americans like me :) )

But this board can help anyone with getting though the setup of the MMC and I know Chad will help too.

I know I thought I would have to format the MMC and I tried to but my version of Windows (ME) does not have an option “/fs:FAT” in the format command.

So I tried it without formatting and it worked fine, I don’t know if I was chancing it or anything.

Did you get your MMC setup or did you need some help?

I guess getting though the steps in “Quick Start Steps” in the manual could be hard on people that never say the DOS prompt before.

  6. It takes a couple of hours to write all of the unrecognized games to your menu and to rename the BINs to 8-character format.  Once you do the initial work, however, it's then pretty easy to add new entries one at a time.

Did you use 2K or 4K and 78BIOS for all of them?

    Does this work mostly?

    We could have a program:

    1. use the original name as the menu name.

    2. use 2K for 2K games or 4K for 4K games

    otherwise don't use?

    3. always use 78BIOS

    4. Cut the original down to 8.3 and if a file is not already there, use it, otherwise rename / keep trying.

If a game is bigger than 4K, I guess you will need to know the bank switching.

  7. OK, it looks like I will start something here but anyway…

The XBOX has a simple, yet substantial appearance to it.

Yes, if you think big and bulky is simple. It looks like a PC’s CPU box but black with some green on it.

It actually LOOKS like a console in the traditional sense.

Look at the Genesis, Saturn, and systems that preceded them...all were somewhat boxy and somewhat "serious" looking.

I really don’t see how the XBOX is that much better looking then Gamecube or PS2 but then again I like smaller more then bigger. As for "serious", Gamecube does IMO look toyish and not serious, but PS2 looks just as serious as XBOX to me.

I think both the 5200 and the XBOX are other computers put into a special box and called a game system.

Didn't Bill want people to play games on the PC Jr at the time the 5200 was around? Or was that already dead at that time.

  8. The Good2600 roms that I found the other day were all .a26, but they had no header like the .a78 files do.  On the other hand, a lot of them them weren't listed in the pack-in CC2ROMDB.TXT.  I downloaded a bigger CC2ROMDB.TXT that someone posted the other day (in the "controller type in CC2 menu" thread), and it recognized over a thousand more of them (mostly PAL).

As for the 7800 ROMs, you have to go to http://www.atari7800.org/bin.htm and download the binary versions from there.

The files .a26 are the same as bin files! and the menu generator will look at them and see if they match what is in the CC2ROMDB.TXT. As for the .a78 should be the same but I don't know why, but the roms for the 7800 from this site, do not work. Do get them from www.atari7800.org

The changes I made in controller type in cc2 menu thread, was just that, I added the controller type to the names of the roms in the CC2ROMDB.TXT.

I didn't change the number of roms that it recognizes.

It is still there if u-all want the controller type in the menu:

  9. As of today, all CC2s (both international and domestic) have been shipped.  So it shouldn't be too long until everyone receives theirs.

    Chad

Are you going to get some sleep now? (Besides work that is)

Anyway thank you very much for your hard work.

  10. I went to Sam's Club yesterday hoping to find MMC's, but apparently they don't carry them any more. :(

Ya, the only ones I found (for instant gradification) where:

    $40 64M

    $60 128M

Are you going to do what Chad said:

A quick search on Google for "32MB MMC price" turned up several for less than $20.00 on the first page.

The top link on this page lists on for $15.00 shipped.  Never used the brand, never heard of this site or the one that they point to, so this IS NOT AN ENDORSEMENT.

    http://dealram.com/prices/26/32MB.html

    Chad

    and then wait?

  11. Woohoo! Got mine today! Thanks Chad! Now I just gotta wait another week to get my MMC card in the mail!

One thing I was wondering: Why use a CD when a floppy would have held all the CC2 files? I just hate to see 699 megs go to waste!  ;)

Not all of us have floppies on our computers anymore. :-)

You know maybe he should have used a MMC to put this stuff on :D

I think CD's are cheaper then a floppy now a-days and in my experience lately floppies only seem to work half of the time! Well that could just be me.

BTW: my CD's case was broke on arrival but the CD survived. :)

  12. Asteroids DC+, Omega Race DC and Sprintmaster DC are driving controller games.

I can keep fixing/changing this stuff (I guess :D ) as people find stuff to change. I will look at changing this.

Nice work, Mot - I'll give it a try.  On a side note, how many 7800 only games NEED a 7800 controller (with 2 buttons) to work properly - maybe that could be added as well?

I was thinking about this last night, there was someone who had a site with this information but don't know now. If anyone knows this info let me know.

    Thanks :)

I just updated the db file here it is:

    http://www.geocities.com/mot505/CC2ROMDB.TXT

You can replace your CC2ROMDB.TXT and then run the menu generater. To see this on your own CC2.

I just used the controller page here at AA and updated a list of them in a file, then I took that and had a program update the CC2ROMDB.TXT.

I know I could not find some of the ROM's in CC2ROMDB.TXT.

Here is what I started with

    http://www.geocities.com/mot505/controller.txt

  14. The name field is 40 characters; just change things to use the last two or three for the controller type.  The MENU.CC2 file (which is what matters) is just a simple fixed-record-length data file.  You could write your own menu generator program which stuffs the controller type into the end of the name field in MENU.CC2, rather than going to the trouble of editing every single entry to be perfectly padded to 40 chars.

I did write/convert the memu generate in Java but I don't think anyone cares because there is code for Linux.

I guess I will come up with a relational thing that has all the non-joystick crc numbers and the controller type and then put in a link-up in my java code and then output the controller to the right side.

If you all are interasted, I can then add this code to the C code.

I can keep that on the link above when I get it done. With my wife going on vaca with-out me, I should have time to actually do it.

  15. It would be nice to know if a game uses something other than a joystick.

Like maybe changing the menu name to like this:

    P:Kaboom

    P:Circus Atari

    Kd:Cookie Monster Munch

    Kd:Big Bird's Egg Catch

    Kd:Oscar's Trash Race

    K:Basic Programming

    K:Brain Games

B:Omega Race (if it was in there)

    B:Thrust

    in the CC2ROMDB.TXT maybe?

    What do you all think?

  16. Just got it!

I gotta say, (without a MMC cart) I just got a paperwieght. So now I have to run out and get one for $40 - 64M or 128M for $60

or wait and get it on line. I already got the card reader at OfficeMax for $10 - $10 mail in rebate.

Should I try it without the card? Will it say please insert card or something? or will it break it?
