  1. What if you had a flash cart thing with like a 26pin (com port) and then you stuck an adapter to that 26pin thing, that looked like a 2600 cart to play in the 2600 and then you could have a NES cart adapter, Atari 8-bit computer cart adapter and so-on.

So the flash card would be a place to store the rom image and you plugged the system adapter into it and the system and away you go?

    I don’t know, just a thought.

  2. Thanks all :) Now I know everything I wanted to know but the Dragonstomper ID thing. I guess I will have to try it some more. I just don't have a lot of time to play with one hour drive to get to work and kids and ... (I know, bitch, bitch)

Did most of the supercharger owners do the mod?

  3. A list of questions that I had ever since I got my hands on a Supercharger for $10 (with tape player and $5 for tapes 1-7).

If a site has this info, then call me a SOB and point me to that site thanks!

Arcadia stuff is worth more then Starpath stuff, right?

Why are the ROM’s not currently on Atari-Age?

Why can’t I load game X (a 4K rom) / is there a way to fix to make it work with the Supercharger?

Do MP3’s work just as good as WAV files?

How do you get the ID needed in Dragonstomper to get across the bridge? / Where is the walkthrough for it?

If that smart card cartridge thing comes out, it will not be able to play the 13 games from Starpath right?

What emulators (if any) play the Starpath roms? And do I need to read 40 pages of instructions to be able to play them?

Supercharger and the 7800 works fine on the one with expansion port but not at all on the one without. Is this because of the smaller contacts? Does it work for anyone?

Any advise on making tapes to use with the Supercharger? Like don’t use stereo, only mono. I tried making a tape and it didn’t work but when I plugged Supercharger directly into the computer, it worked great.

  4. One thrift here prices the carts at $5 but then they have the 1/2 off on them so they come down. I paid 2.50 for 1 that I didn’t have yet.

I once found 5 7200 carts with no price on them and Super Skate Boarding was the best one. I was very bumbed because this store always put about $5 on carts. So I go to the back and ask them how much and lady asked what are they? I say very very old video games. So then she comes back with a big sticker said $5 for all 5.

But guess where she put the big sticker….

RIGHT ON THE SUPER SKATE BOARDING LABEL!!!!!! :x

I got it off but it took some of the black off with it!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

    :x

Kid today barely know NES let alone Atari. I know HS kids here I say I got a Sega Master System. What’s that? Is that a Genesis? When at my house they mostly play Genesis and a little NES for the light gun and duck hunt.

Even “The Video Game Bibles” is “from the NES through the Saturn”[/url]

  5. Heh! That reminds me of something... my father works at a college as a network administrator (or similar) and a few years back he kept getting calls from the library's computer center to (get this) remove music CD's from the 5.25" disk drives. Apparently some students thought the 5.25" drives were CD-ROM devices.... icon_rolleyes.gif icon_biggrin.gif

Ok getting off topic but still 80’s!

Worked as lab monitor in 84 in Tucson, Arizona. A student asked the lab monitor for help with her 51/4 floppy disk. Monitor looks in the drive and see a very badly warped disk in the drive. Monitor gets pliers to get the dam thing out. You left your disk in the car didn’t you? Yes but all my homework is on that disk. Well I’m sorry but it is all gone now!

Monitor makes big mistake by giving warped disk back to the student because….

Later student ask different lab monitor about help with a disk, original lab monitor heard her and came over to her and said “YOU DIDN”T PUT THAT THING BACK IN DID YOU?” and he looked to find disk back in a disk drive!

1 more: In 86 or so the line printer was having fits. I found that one student sent an executable (exe) to the printer. I told him he could not do that! And he says: “I’m leaving school and I need a copy of the program!” I tried to explain that he will not be able to use it but he didn’t get it. So, I just gave him what he had printed and went away.

  6. I thought I came across a game where the black key was in the white castle and the white key was in the black castle and so they could not be opened.

    Was that just a dream?

    Let me get this straight...

Does the program sudo randomly pick each object to a place and therefore the number of combinations are 18 choose 11? 18 places to put stuff and 11 objects to put. The objects are Chalice, 3 keys, bridge, magnet, 3 dragons, sword, bat. (Surely there are more than 18 places.)

Or does one of the 18 say where each of the 11 objects go? I.E. number one will have the yellow key on screen x and white key will be on screen y and ?

and therefore there are only 20 placements of objects in Adventure (18 for game 3 and 1 for game 1 and 1 for game 2).

  7. I just got 2 Activision carts that do not work at all on my two 7800's (one w/ expansion port); I don't have a 2600. I did look at the contacts of the carts in question (Decathlon, and Grand Prix) and they look like there is more space between the contacts then the older Activisions I have.

So I think if someone had a high score cart, it might just work in one, can anyone try it?

But I did mess with robot tank and it finaly worked but if you touch it, it will go blank (as stated b4).

  8. Thanks Nukey Shay, I used debug in DOS to put EA in the adventure bin file and it is a great hack!

I found that if you just touch the dot and then try to enter it didn't work. It works iff the dot is not in the room that it starts in.

Example, I moved the dot to the next room and then went to signature room, then I moved the dot back to the room it started in and tried to go back to signature room and no go.

    I know nit-pick!

  9. When someone says they have a basement full of Atari stuff? You all should say "well I can come and help you appraise your collection because I know what the systems and carts are going for."

That way they won?t go back home and think that they have a gold mine, and you will never see them again.

    Just a thought.

  10. What about putting the magnet above the Gold Castle's gate, then take the bridge and get trapped on top of the Castle with the chalice then drop it and win, while being stuck on top of the yellow castle.

Also at the game select screen if you pull down and to the left or right your little square appears at the bottom of the screen. WOOOHOOO!!!!

Now if we could just get the bridge to appear on this screen... I wonder where that would take you!

I just tried it with holes in the walls and found the all walls wrap-around to the same screen.

  11. I finaily found a record player (with a needle $10) and recorded that record that came with the Super Breakout Read along book. Here is the link you will need to cut and past this into your browser:

    http://www.geocities.com/mot505/SuperBreakout.zip

So put on your pop and scratch ears and get ready for the dramatic story.

Also the pictures of the book are here:

    http://www.geocities.com/mot505/sbrkout.zip

Please feel free to use these or put them on your web site.

  12. Ok I suck! (and so does Primus)

I sucked in the stuff from www.geocities.com/vvge2001/SegaRarity.txt

    and made: www.geocities.com/mot505/genesis.txt

You will have to rename it to Genesis.csv (as geocities does not like csv files) and put this in your Masters directory: example:

    C:Program FilesCart CommanderMasters

Anyone can do anything you want with it. You can even say you made it.

    Have fun.

Here is the conversion of rarity

    C- = 1

    C = 2

    C+ = 3

    U- = 4

    U = 5

    U+ = 6

    R- = 7

    R = 8

    R+ = 9

  13. Hey Junie thanks for the post. Now at least I know the cost of the thing.

I just wonder if I see (or saw) one at the thrift, if I knew what one looks like.

(Well I did see something at the thrift that had that green chip socket thing on it but it said something about logic probe and was something around $60, so I passed on it not knowing enough about it .)

  14. Does anyone know of a site with FAQ on EPROM burners? Are these things big bucks like in $1,000 range or what range are they. Can one make it out of parts? How hard are the EPROM's to find.

Ok I think that is it for now.

  15. hay, Bill

I live in Colorado Springs, and I too shop at the ARC stores. But lately someone must be getting to the stores before me (or have a deal with the employees) and I can't find anything.

But You should be thankful here the common 2600's are $4.99 and I have never ever seen a 8-bit game for sale. (and the people in the UK, will say I should be thankful.)

Can you buy all the 8-bit's for me and send them down?

  16. I was thinking about doing just that but in my two horse town, I don't know what I would get. Plus my wife would divorce me if a got 7 more systems. (and I still don't have a 5200 )

Did people haggle over the price for the systems? Or did they say take it away for $10 bucks or something like that? Did anyone ask $100 or more for their system? Come on tell me more!!!!
