Does anyone know of a site with FAQ on EPROM burners? Are these things big bucks like in $1,000 range or what range are they. Can one make it out of parts? How hard are the EPROM's to find. Ok I think that is it for now.

hay, Bill I live in Colorado Springs, and I too shop at the ARC stores. But lately someone must be getting to the stores before me (or have a deal with the employees) and I can't find anything. But You should be thankful here the common 2600's are $4.99 and I have never ever seen a 8-bit game for sale. (and the people in the UK, will say I should be thankful.) Can you buy all the 8-bit's for me and send them down?

I opened mine up and I found leaf switches inside (two metal strips under the buttons). The screws to take it apart were kinda flimsy, so be careful and good luck.

I was thinking about doing just that but in my two horse town, I don't know what I would get. Plus my wife would divorce me if a got 7 more systems. (and I still don't have a 5200 ) Did people haggle over the price for the systems? Or did they say take it away for $10 bucks or something like that? Did anyone ask $100 or more for their system? Come on tell me more!!!!

I got the rarity guide display all in one page and put the html into VIM and did a bunch of replaces and I put it into a spreadsheet and sorted on rarity num and cut out the commons and sorted back on title and printed it in a very small font for thrift searches. So, if I see a title, I could know if it is rare very quickly. Maybe we could get a Perl script together to do it automaticaly.

I saw on a web page that HOZER is in Colorado Springs. Is this correct? I live in Colorado Springs, can I just go to his house and buy carts? and maybe test some for him?

Sorry for making the post longer but... If Atari made more ET then Atari's 2600 consoles then what about 2600 converter for 5200 and Colecovision 2600 Adaptor, etc... The other thing is, if the carts have no value what so ever, why would you destroy them by crushing and poring concrete over them? If I have a bunch of a product and I can't sell it for $$$, why would I destroy it, when I could sell it for $? Ok I would have to sell it for very little maybe, but I get some money back. Or would this hurt Atari's image too much? I still can make someone sigh saying they will hang on to them for a year or so.

If you buy a bunch with one or two you want and the rest E.T., pac-man, combat, I guess you will have more than one of them.

Well I found my scanning software and installed it. Then it took me more than an hour to find out how to have the software recognize the scanner. Then a few hours to get everything scanned in. I didn't get to look at it too much but it looks like it is just a cheese space ship story. The pictures are all black and white. If you all want, I can type in the story, this weekend and let you down load it. I didn't tell you that the book didn't have the record in it and I was very sad So I franticly look all over the place for the record and my heart skipped a beat when I found it in a bunch of records. I though AtariAge would have something about it (And this was made by KidStuff.) I could buy a record player or maybe send it to someone. And put both the wav files and scans of the book on a CD and sell them for $20. Just kidding. Maybe AtariAge would like them for their site?

So the best info we have is Jaybird's quote: In the book "Phoenix: The Rise and Fall of Home Videogames" by Leonard Herman it says: "To compete against Colecovision, Atari released a brand new console that they dubbed the 5200 after its model number. From then on, the VCS, which had a model number of CX2600, simply became the 2600." So I guess the 5200 model number was a kinda random and gave Atari the 2600 and the 7800 numbers.

I was at the thrift store and didn't find anything cool in the electronics. I was looking at kid's books when my eyes hit the Atari symbol (it is funny how my body reacts to the Atari symbol now). This is a "Super Breakout" storybook and a record. I don't have any record player so I guess I can't listen to it. I can't find much about these storybooks on any web page. So I would like to know how special these are and any more info anyone can share? Thanks. I guess this was the just the storybook company looking to cache in on the Atari name.

You are right 2600 Hz will stop the current call and let you start a new one for free. From here. "sends a 2600 Hz tone. Can someone tell me the power supply specs (the voltage and amps) for the Atari 1010 Cassette Recorder. This is the one that matches the XL line. Here is a picture. I found this with no cords or power supply.

I saw something: My kid got a cartoon book called Ben's Big Picture with a meal at Chick-Fil-A in the mall, a while a go. About 4 pages in is a TV with a game system and written on the game system is 2600 and it has a cart with "Bunny Trouble" written on it.

Is the spinner thing inside the paddle controllers so much different? Can these be used to make one?

I started up Wizard of Wor for the 2600 with some people at work and we all started to lol because we all thought it was kind of phalic.

No one seems to talk about swapping the guts from one machine to put in another, that people did. I have seen on e-bay, someone selling a XE put into an Atari 800 case (or something). It is one way to use the keyboard you like with the system you like but you are screwing up two machines to make one.
