I saw on a web page that HOZER is in Colorado Springs. Is this correct? I live in Colorado Springs, can I just go to his house and buy carts? and maybe test some for him?

Did anyone see the late Phil Hartman in Activision - Ice Hockey. I saw this one on Nic at night and it was longer than this one.

Sorry for making the post longer but...
If Atari made more ET then Atari's 2600 consoles then what about 2600 converter for 5200 and Colecovision 2600 Adaptor, etc...
The other thing is, if the carts have no value what so ever, why would you destroy them by crushing and poring concrete over them?
If I have a bunch of a product and I can't sell it for $$$, why would I destroy it, when I could sell it for $? Ok I would have to sell it for very little maybe, but I get some money back. Or would this hurt Atari's image too much? I still can make someone sigh saying they will hang on to them for a year or so.

If you buy a bunch with one or two you want and the rest E.T., pac-man, combat, I guess you will have more than one of them.

Sorry, I could not get a good link but Lemmi is correct you can just type in www.geocities.com/mot505/sbrkout.zip in the location.
Your story is very close. But there is only one person and he only has 3 "missiles of white light". and he has to get back to New Califonrnia.
When I played Super Breakout on the 2600 I got 5 shots?
and no where does it say his ships gets smaller

Well I found my scanning software and installed it. Then it took me more than an hour to find out how to have the software recognize the scanner. Then a few hours to get everything scanned in. But here is the Super Breakout storybook scans: www.geocities.com/mot505/sbrkout.zip
I found two turntables but both did not have a needle, so no sound files.

Guy: I'm trying to get some 20-year-old Atari cartridges from under…
Police officer: What??
Police officer picks up mike and holds it to his mouth
Police officer: I need a loony wagon out at the dump…

I didn't get to look at it too much but it looks like it is just a cheese space ship story. The pictures are all black and white. If you all want, I can type in the story, this weekend and let you down load it.
I didn't tell you that the book didn't have the record in it and I was very sad
So I franticly look all over the place for the record and my heart skipped a beat when I found it in a bunch of records.
I though AtariAge would have something about it (And this was made by KidStuff.)
I could buy a record player or maybe send it to someone. And put both the wav files and scans of the book on a CD and sell them for $20. Just kidding. Maybe AtariAge would like them for their site?

So the best info we have is Jaybird's
quote:
In the book "Phoenix: The Rise and Fall of Home Videogames" by Leonard Herman it says:"To compete against Colecovision, Atari released a brand new console that they dubbed the 5200 after its model number. From then on, the VCS, which had a model number of CX2600, simply became the 2600."
So I guess the 5200 model number was a kinda random and gave Atari the 2600 and the 7800 numbers.

I was at the thrift store and didn't find anything cool in the electronics. I was looking at kid's books when my eyes hit the Atari symbol (it is funny how my body reacts to the Atari symbol now). This is a "Super Breakout" storybook and a record. I don't have any record player so I guess I can't listen to it.
I can't find much about these storybooks on any web page. So I would like to know how special these are and any more info anyone can share? Thanks.
I guess this was the just the storybook company looking to cache in on the Atari name.

You are right 2600 Hz will stop the current call and let you start a new one for free.
From here.
"sends a 2600 Hz tone. This clears down the original call, and opens up a trunk that "Listens" for these special audible tones. A "Cap'n Crunch" whistle does nothing more than send a 2600 Hz tone or note. In the late 60's and Early 70's, all toll trunks were sensitive to this tone."
More from here.:
He asked me who I wanted to call, anywhere in the USA. I gave him the number. He said, "First, I'll dial a toll free 800 number". (snip)
Just as the 800 number was ringing, Jimmy hit the "E" key, one octave above middle C, and the ringing would stop, and I would hear a chirp sound and an empty line with a very soft hiss sound. This is 2600 Hz. After that, jimmy would play chord pairs of notes that sounded exactly what I used to hear when making long distant calls. I heard a ring, and my friend answered. WOW! It worked. It blew me away...

Here is the Cap'n Crunch story: "Cap'n Crunch whistle does nothing more than send a 2600 Hz tone" in the phone to get free long distance (back in the day).
I don't relay think the two are related but maybe...

Thanks much. Very nice page.
Now does anyone know where to get wav files to put onto tapes or convert programs to wav to store on tape? This could be a fun thing to do this weekend!

Can someone tell me the power supply specs (the voltage and amps) for the Atari 1010 Cassette Recorder. This is the one that matches the XL line. Here is a picture. I found this with no cords or power supply.

I saw something: My kid got a cartoon book called Ben's Big Picture with a meal at Chick-Fil-A in the mall, a while a go. About 4 pages in is a TV with a game system and written on the game system is 2600 and it has a cart with "Bunny Trouble" written on it.

Is the spinner thing inside the paddle controllers so much different? Can these be used to make one?
-
I started up Wizard of Wor for the 2600 with some people at work and we all started to lol because we all thought it was kind of phalic.

No one seems to talk about swapping the guts from one machine to put in another, that people did. I have seen on e-bay, someone selling a XE put into an Atari 800 case (or something). It is one way to use the keyboard you like with the system you like but you are screwing up two machines to make one.

Woolco!!! My dad was the manager of one. He actual worked his way up starting from cart boy in a Woolworth. I remember going there and looking at all the Atari stuff. I love the boxes with Woolco price tags.
When Woolco went out of business, I remember my dad bring home another 2600 console (possibly the demo model) so we had two. My parents must have thrown all the 2600 stuff, I guess, because they no longer have it.
I also remember going to La Bells catalog show rooms to buy carts. You could see the demo box and then if you want to buy it, you would pay for it and someone in the back would go get you one.
One thing I remember also: After the crash in 1985, I remember going to a KB toys in the mall and seeing tons and tons of 2600 carts discounted. The only title I remember was "Tanks but No Tanks" with a picture of a Tank on the cover. I remember it because of the play on words.

I was wondering if it would be easy to modify this to make a nice portable system out of it? Because of the updated chips and such, it would take less power, maybe?

I could not get rid of the dam line but I did remove the wall above it and below the other screen so I could get on the other side of the wall but it does not give you the "created by ..." screen!

I once made a messed up adventure game with holes in all the walls, using the Disassibled version. Just to see where they would go. I'll give it out if anyone wants it. (Ya, right)
I know we use to spend hours playing adventure, back in the day. We use to find different ways to win, like put the magnet over the gate and take the Chalice to the top of the yellow castle and drop it.
BTW: You can see Warren at Warren Robinett's Home Page He has a page on Adventure with PowerPoint slides about the 2600 too.

Downloadable rarity guide?
in Atari 2600
Posted
I got the rarity guide display all in one page and put the html into VIM and did a bunch of replaces and I put it into a spreadsheet and sorted on rarity num and cut out the commons and sorted back on title and printed it in a very small font for thrift searches. So, if I see a title, I could know if it is rare very quickly.
Maybe we could get a Perl script together to do it automaticaly.
