Anyway, though it worked fine for all three of my docks, I have found Japanese CD-ROM² + Interface Units where they only worked well with I gave them 12V from another improvised PSU... some 3A 12v Hyundai power adapter from Goodwill that was 5.5x2.5 but needed the polarity reversed. I assumed it was failing capacitors since my other units worked fine with the MK-1602.
The internal voltage regulator is spec'd for a range of voltages and should be fine with 7-12v. The regulator's heat sink might get a bit hotter with 12v PSU but it should tolerate it. If your MK-1602 can't cut it then you can go to any thrift store and find a 12v PSU that's over an amp with the same 5.5x2.1mm time size. They are extremely common with routers, cable modems, external hard drives, etc though most will be center-positive (unlike the MK-1602). Again, that doesn't matter as long as you remember to reverse the modular adapter tip by plugging it in backwards.
I've got several improvised PSUs for TG-CD docks and PCE IFU docks around and never spent more than a few dollars but I figured you might prefer to spend a couple bucks more on that set since you weren't looking to build one. If you change your mind about that and don't mind splicing and/or soldering:
https://console5.com/store/turbografx-16-cdrom-dock-power-connector.html
Not that the $6 set is too expensive or anything.
Czroe, thank you so much for the information! I will definitely just go ahead and order the set you mentioned. The main thing I was worried about was just blowing the cd unit with the wrong power supply or something like that, but this will definitely get the job done. Do these plugs come marked or something so that you know not to flip the polarity of the plug? Doesn't look like it but I'm sure I'll figure it out when they arrive.

...
Hello Czroe, I just checked and I do indeed have one that still power up and works fine. So the set you linked above will allow me to use the Genesis MK-1602 adapter on the CD unit and run power to the dock to play the cd games? Just wanted to be sure since the official power supply for the CD unit looks like it needs 11Volts and 1.53 amps? Thank you for your help!

Hey guys, does anyone have any idea where I could get a replacement power supply for the turbografx 16 CD unit. Mine came without one so no way to power the doc. If anyone could point me in the right direction to a website that sells newly manufactured generic ones or if someone has one they'd be willing to sell please let me know. Thank you!

But make an offer on the 2 if you want.
I will let you know a8 carts i have only a couple and common ones.
Dont think i have any spare ecs stuff. Coleco i have some loose carts and manuals...probably no spare adam.
Commodore would just be loose vic 20 carts and manuals.
If any of that interests you i will take some pics.
Thanks
Hello Stupus, yeah I would be interested in some of the vic-20 stuff if you would like to send a picture of those. I'm more interested in the loose cartridges than manuals. Regards, John.

Hello stupus, honestly burgertime will probably be out of my price range, I appreciate the offer for it as I know it is one of the more difficult ones to track down on the Aquarius especially with box. I may be interested in snafu, perhaps we can work out some sort of deal on it, if you want to send me a pm of the list of a8 carts you have, I'm mostly looking for the xe specific ones, particularly airball, as well as intellivision things like the ecs and colecovision/adam things as well. Also commodore if you have any of that. Thank you so much!

2 minutes ago, stupus said:Probably $50-60 for burgertime and snafu for $10 if buying burgertime. Plus whatever shipping is. I have a couple spare a8 carts too and much misc other stuff.
Hello, thanks for the quotes, if you a list of the other stuff I'd like to take a look. Thank you.

Hello, how much would you be looking to get for each one. Let me know

Hello everyone, if anyone has any of the Mattel Aquarius games for sale met me know. The cartridge's I have so far are utopia, night stalker, file form, fin form, tron deadly discs and the 16k memory cart. Anything else I would be interested in. Thank you everyone!

Hello everyone, just got a turbografx 16 with some games, looking to buy anything anyone has to offer. I prefer just the Hu-cards because I'm really just looking to play them, but am open to buying some with the cases/manuals. Also if anybody has military madness I'd really like to buy that one. Thank you!

Hello everyone, looking to buy Atari 400/800/XE cartridges, I will take a look at any list that I am sent. Thank you very much.

Hello all, I just got an Atari 800XL and XEGS machine with Lode Runner and Millipede, I'm looking for essentially for any of the cartridge games to play other than the two I already have. I'm interested in all games from dirt common to harder to find ones, particularly airball if anyone has a extra to sell. Please send me a list with what your looking to get and I am more than happy to reply back to you asap. Thank you to all :).

Hey guys, just picked up a system along with cart some cartridges, I wasn't able to find much information on cartridge numbers 11 and 15, can someone give me an idea of what loose copies go for. It seems like 15 is somewhat uncommon but haven't seen a price anywhere on ebay or otherwise, 11 I haven't been able to locate either. Both tested and work. Thank you!

There is a way to get games to Amiga from PC, but you need to purchase a PC to Amiga cable here: https://amigakit.amiga.store/product_info.php?products_id=247¤cy=USD
You also need to download the file here: http://main.aminet.net/package.php?package=comm/misc/PC2Am308.lha
And, you need to ask someone to make a Amiga disk for you, so you can boot from it, and some blank DD disks to copy games to.
If this is complicated then just get Gotek.
Hey amiman99, thanks for the info, quick question, is it possible to write to floppy disks using the gotek? I also have 1 external floppy drive, not sure if that matters for copying purposes if at all possible I understand that it wouldn't be needed but I always like making the experience as authentic as possible. Thanks for your input!

Hey everyone, just got myself an original tank mouse. It was included in a lot of things I purchased. The left mouse button was kind of weak and so I went ahead and soldered in a new micro switch, works awesome now. I see the suggestions that everyone has made above, and I thank everyone for their time and replying. My next question is, in the meantime that I consider the GOTEK, I do have an older pc with a 3.5 inch floppy drive, and I was wondering if I could make copies of Amiga games to put onto a blank disk and then play on the amiga. If so what kind of tools would be required. The older pc has a cd drive, and usb slots so I could get whatever programs are needed for that. What I don't have is one of those cables to connect an amiga to it directly, which I saw is a way to transfer info to the amiga. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

They are well worth the $20, and I paid about double that for mine. PS/2 mouses are not difficult to come by, and I have used several Logitech and Microsoft optical and ball, as well as a trackball mouse.
I think I have about 3 of the PS/2 style mice with the little 6 pin plugs lying around the house from old computers. So one of those should be compatible with the adapter or is there a chance they wont work?

Get something like this if you have PS2 mouse lying around.
https://amigakit.amiga.store/product_info.php?products_id=88¤cy=USD
So, what do you want to do with your A500, games? Applications?
Hello, yes I agree it is a little pricey, I do like authentic experiences though lol, but I'll probably get one of the adapted mice. What I would like would be some games, what would be the easiest way to play games on the machine, is there something like a zoomfloppy device for the 8-bit commodore computers or some way to play copies? Not too interested in applications, the computer came with about 10 games and a ton of applications I have no idea how to use.

1 hour ago, Daedalus2097 said:Yep, your theory is on the right track. The mouse uses a quadrature signal for the directions, so 2 overlapping pulse trains for horizontal, and 2 for vertical. The order of the pulses in each train (whether pulse A starts before pulse B or vice versa) determines the direction, and one pulse increments or decrements a hardware counter that corresponds to pixels of movement. The Amiga uses the up and left pins of the port for the vertical movement, and the down and right pins for the horizontal movement. This is why wriggling the joystick in a circle moves the pointer diagonally - it's incrementing both the horizontal and vertical counters one pixel at a time.
There is software you can use that translates joystick input into mouse input, but I'm not sure it works on OS 1.x (the default for the Amiga 500), as the input handling system was heavily upgraded for OS 2.0+ and much of that sort of thing depends on the newer OS calls.
Of course, things like using the keys, using drivers for non-native mice (serial or USB attached to relevant ports) or for joysticks to act as mice, all depend on the Amiga's OS running. Most games shut down the OS so they can bang the hardware directly, and as a result, bypass such methods meaning only a mouse (either native or non-native with a suitable adaptor) will work.
Any form of hardware adaptor will have limitations and will be unlikely to work with mice that deviate in any way from the standard protocols. PS/2 adaptors tend to work well with a majority of PS/2 mice. USB adaptors come in two varieties - ones that require a duel protocol USB / PS/2 mouse (since they're just PS/2 adaptors with a USB connector instead), and proper USB adaptors like the Rys, which work with standard HID-compliant USB mice. Bog standard mice are more likely to work than anything fancy, and if possible, try to get one that doesn't have too high a resolution. Back in the day, Amiga mice were in the 400-600DPI range - you can get mice around 10x that now, and these will prove difficult to use on the Amiga's low (in modern terms) screen resolution. Some adaptors compensate for this, others don't, so that's something to look for too.
Hello, thank you for the wonderful explanation, very much appreciated. What do you think about this Amiga mouse? https://www.ebay.com/itm/MOUSE-COMMODORE-AMIGA-NEW-MINT/130887232203?hash=item1e797caacb:g:LgYAAOxyuPtQ~X~n I literally just got the Amiga 500 earlier this week and have no idea what to expect about anything in terms of what is considered to be a good mouse etc. Thank you for your time :).

2 hours ago, NIAD said:I would post this info in the Coleco Adam Facebook page seeing as there are a number of people there that might be able to help.
Perhaps the Disk Insert Sensor.
Thanks for the advice, I went ahead and did that. I did open the drive and noticed that powering the drive on and off moves the head a few millimetres occasionally. There is a metal wheel that looks like it makes contact with the plastic bracket on which the head is attached to on the rails. Is the head stuck or something, sorry if these sound like dumb questions, I've got 0 experience with floppy drives in general and have no idea if the head not moving much is a mechanical issue or something on the boards in the drive. Thank you in advance.

2 hours ago, NIAD said:Depending on what the issue is on the Adam Logic Board or the little Power PCB. It’s really hard to say.
All systems that I had issues with, the problem was on the Adam Logic Board.
Pay close attention to the ribbon cable/connector that joins the two boards.
Yep, the CV Delta Board does not have any socketed chips. The Adam Logic Board usually has about 5 iirc.
I see, if I were to swap out the coleco board in my working adam and place it into the broken one would that be okay or is there a risk of damaging the known working board. If there is I'll probably just save myself the hassle of trying to fix it and part it out online. Thanks again!

3 hours ago, crisalan44 said:I had this same exact problem on a Adam expansion model 3 that I bought a while back down to the humm and colecovison not working and all the same stuff you described. It was the Adam in my case and not the colecovision and if I remember correctly it had to do with a short on the power supply connections on the Adam motherboard it was shorting out the 12v I think it was and not sending enough power to run everything just enough to fire it up and humm. I removed the mother board and underneath where the plug is for the power supply it was shorting out and had some bad soldering on it. Cleaned it up removed the solder overflow causing it to short out and it fired right up. Hope this helps.
Thank you for the suggestion Crisalan, I looked underneath the small power with the 9 pin connector, didn't see anything that could be causing a problem.

Hello everyone, just got a non-working Coleco Adam floppy drive. The serial number is in the 18000's, not sure if that matters, anyways, when the drive is plugged in it starts like normal, turning when I turn on the Adam the drive never shuts off. It keeps spinning and the red light stays on like when it is reading a disk. If I start the drive with a known working disk in it, the word processor of the Adam still boots, it act's like a drive is not connected at all. The plug going from the drive to the Adam net port is a good cable, the power supply is good as well as I have tested them with other drives. I'm wondering if this drive is only good for parts or if there is something that can be adjusted/done. Thanks to all in advance!
Also, the drive is set to drive 1, and the cable is plugged into the right socket on the back for "in".

31 minutes ago, OLD CS1 said:It is possible to use the Amiga without a mouse, just not recommended. I have never used a joystick (and playing with one when plugged in produces no results for me,) but you can use a combination of the Amiga keys and the arrow keys.
I recommend you get a mouse. It is a graphical interface, after all. USB and PS/2 converters are cheap these days, much less than what I paid for my Cocolinos about 15 years ago.
Check out eBay or AmiBay, or AmigaKit, among others.
Thank you for the reply, just wanted to be sure my amiga wasn't broken or something. Sounds like anything but an amiga mouse or a mouse with an adapter will cause the cursor to not move very much at all which is currently haplening when i use a joystick in port 1, normally reserved for the mouse when in workbench.

2 hours ago, NIAD said:You will need to disassemble the Memory Console to get to the multiple PCBs to give them a thorough cleaning and as you said, reseat all socketed chips.
Good Luck
Thank you for the advice, quick question would a problem on the adam computer portion be preventing the colecovision portuon from booting? If i try the colecovision motherboard on the good adam i have is it possible it would boot up? Just asking since I noticed there no socketed chips on the CV board if I am remembering correctly. Thanks in advance!

1 hour ago, 0078265317 said:I am not sure. Never used an amiga. Maybe something like this will work.
Then you can just use a standard mouse and hopefully get it up and running.
Hello, thanks for the reply, never used an amiga myself either until today haha. I see some information online about users plugging in joysticks to port 1 and then having to wriggle it around to get the cursor to move diagonally as well. Sounds like it could be normal? Hopefully someone can remember if that's the case.
