Board got a little messed up today, eh? anyway, like I tried to post earlier: http://forums.qj.net/f-zx-81s-homebrew-rel...tml#post1318955 Zx-81 is currently porting Greg Stanton's Prosystem Emulator to the Sony PSP, at my request. This guy ported a number of great Emulators to the PSP, and all of them are top notch. Any takers on Beta testing this on their PSP?

So you think you can make this "fix cart" as you put it in 30 seconds? Go gett'em tiger. And yes I know you where talking about the connector on the inside of the console but as each person has clearly stated they don't want to alter the 7800 console, your statment is ill founded. I wouldn't try to rip off the 7800 community with some bullshit piece of extension hardware taht's unnecessary. It's amazing how many vultures there are in the Retro gaming scene.
-
Which would mean that a PSP port would be right behind it. Zx-81, who coded teh PSPatari 800XL/5200 emulator for the PSP is currently taking a look at the Prosystem source code to see if a PSP version is feasible. Nice.

any chance of getting a better port of the PSP version of stella than what's currently available?
-
$45 for something that takes all of 30 seconds to fix for free. Amazing.

The Wii and PS3 are "Porn Gateways"

Nah. I think these parents just need to get laid. -
Seriously, this is both the easiest, and cheapest way to fix this problem. You're not actually cutting anything on the 7800's outer casing. Once you take the screws out of the bottom, and take the top cover off, there is a cup that the cart connector sits in, which is what causes the problems with Imagic and some activision carts. All you need to do is make one cut into the cup vertically on both left and right sides with a pair of scissors and the cup will stretch enough to fit any cart you like, and you cannot see the modification from the outside once you close the case back up at all. Hell of a lot easier and cheaper than trying to build some frankencart.

First of all, check your system firmware version. If you go to the "System Settings" menu, look at the system info page. It will tell you your Mac Address and your System Version. If it's Higher than 2.80, you can't do any of the fun stuff. If it's 2.80 or lower, what you're going to need to do is downgrade it to version 1.50, so you can run homebrew and emulators. If you also want to run iso backups and PSX games using the built-in PSX emulator, you will then have to upgrade it to teh cracked "Custom Firmware" version 3.02OE. Also, check to see what kind of motherboard it has. Open the UMD door, and look at the system board in the top left corner under the door. If you see "IC1003" then you have a TA-082 motherboard, which requires an extra step to do the downgrade to 1.50.

Fixed that for you. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before that's cracked open as well. I believe it's already been unencrypted, which is how the 3.03 OE firmware was created. Decrypting a firmware so it can be emulated in Devhook, and finding a security hole so it can be hacked/downgraded/Kernel access are two very different things. There may be downgrader for 3.02 eventually, but since the downgraders are only working up to 2.80, and there are 5 firmware revisions in between, I wouldn't bet it's going to be anytime soon on it. Best bet: don't upgrade further.
-
That's been fixed in the latest version.
-
Doesn't matter anymore. Dark_Alex released the TA-082 DOWNGRADER today. I'm running 3.02 OE-B on mine right now.
-
Better yet, just compile it and post the compiled Binary, so those of us who haven't updated our compile environments don't have to chase down a million updates to mingw etc.
-
OR Get a CC2 and play the fixed ROM on that.

PSP 2.71 Custom Firmware by Dark_AleX
Danno replied to vb_master's topic in Modern Console Discussion
yeah, but it's not posted here. And 90% of new PSP's on shelves now or bought in the last few months have TA-082's. -
PSP 2.71 Custom Firmware by Dark_AleX
Danno replied to vb_master's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Do NOT do this upgrade if you have a TA-082 motherboard in your PSP. It will brick it. For now, if you're stuck with a TA-082 (non-downgradeable) PSP, then just continue to use Dark Alex's HEN revision C to do exactly the same thins, but without nthe risk of bricking your PSP. -
http://www.psp-hacks.com - has everything you need. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR MOTHERBOARD FIRST!!!! the TA-082 Motherboard will Brick(kill the psp) is you try to downgrade. there are other options. The TIFF eloader allows you to run homebrew, emus, and stuff from a hacked TIFF file you put in your "photos" folder. It's safer than downgrading.
-
That's right, The new TIFF 0.9.9 eloader for the PSP, a hacked tiff file you place in your photos folder, allows you to run most of the homebrew available on you PSP on any firmware (1.0 thru 2.71) except the recent patch 2.80/81. And DOESN'T require any UMD games. Including PSP-Stella 0.2, which runs 99% of 2600 roms. Who needs a portable VCS? This works WAY better, and can now run emus for NES, SNES, N64, SMS, Genesis, N64, Neo-Geo/CD, Wonderswan, PCE, and basically every other emu out there. check it out: http://www.psp-hacks.com/

It works. The 2600 trak-ball has 2 modes, Joystick, and true trak-ball. The commercial version of centipede will work with it in joystick mode. So will pretty much and other game, as it merely simulates a joystick. However the only games in existence on either the 2600 or 7800 that will take advatage of the "true trak-ball" mode are hacks. One is Tom J's Missle command hack, and the other is Kenfused's 7800 CentipedeTB. you would need a CC2 in order to ply either of these on real hardware. OR have someone burn your a copy on an eprom.
-
Buy a CC2. It'll probably be about the same price as a high score cart at this point, and works as a high score cart & allows you to play EVERY game ever made for the 7800 & 2600 from a MMC card, with the single exception of Pitfall II.

Easy to say when you aren't bearing the risk of legal action for trademark infringement. CHANGING THE NAME OF A GAME TO TRY AND ESCAPE INFRINGMENT WILL NOT WORK!! IF THEY WANT TO FRY YOUR ASS THEY CAN FRY YOUR ASS NO MATTER WHAT YOU CALL IT. CHANGING THE NAME SAVES YOU FROM NOTHING. HOW MANY TIMES DOES IT NEED TO BE SAID! It makes the legal departments of the trademark and copyright owners have quite a bit more difficulty tracking down and prosecuting infringments when the infringers are using different names for the works being taken from. But if you'd like to help the lawyers for the trademark owners and not the Atari homebrew community, by all means, keep yelling the original arcade names to everyone you meet.
-
It's a trademark issue. They CAN'T. I was merely making fun of the fact taht people see another meaning behind F.O.Q.K. but curiously they seem to think "Beef Drop" is kiddy approved.
-
I love how some people find F.o.Q.K to be too uncomfortable, but no one seems to mind calling his other game "beef drop". LOL.

Inside the button, underneath the plastic cap, is a metal contact dome andtwo contact points that makes the connection for the reset switch. The metal on the contact points and teh dome is oxidated (corroded) and needs to be cleaned. You can pop the plastic caps off the top of the buttons and take the metal dome out and clean them with rubbing alcohol and a scrub brush, then dry them and put them back in and wedge the plastic cap back into it's holder ring (or tape it down with electrical tape.)
