It DOES work. I have 2 copies of Space Shuttle, one with the picture label, and one that's a blue label. BOTH work with the 7800, in addition to EVERY OTHER game on the CC2. The reports of incompatibilites of 2600 carts with the 7800 are so few and far between it's ridiculous. It's almost as if some rabid 5200 or Colecovision fanboi created the incompatibility listings to help further his retarded agenda of making his system of choice look better and gain a following of 7800 detractors. Enough. The chances that your 7800 will be incompatible with any games 2600 or otherwise (provided they actually fit in tha cart slot correctly, which isn't so much a compatibility issues as it is a manufacturing defect) are slim to none. 1022455 Well I'm telling you that both Space Shuttle and Robot Tank DON'T work on my 7800, and i'm not the only one. The screen just flickers and the game also freezes, although I do know they work on some 7800's. 1022655 That's entirely different from perpetuating the myth that the 7800 is "Not compatible with some 2600 games". That's just flat out not true. There are limited amounts of 7800s that MIGHT have problems playing CERTAIN 2600 carts, depending upon both the manufacturing revision of the 7800 unit itself, and the the manufacturing revision of the 2600 game in question. And even then, the results are unfounded and sketchy. Based up the research documented in the 7800 FAQ right here on this site - NONE of "2600 games in question" should work on my current in use unmodified 7800, based upon the serial number and revision date/version as listed on the unit's motherboard. yet they all work. No problem. Same went for the 7800 I had as a kid, when I had all of the same games (albeit different carts that are long since tossed away). What I said stands. The chances that you'll come across a 7800 unit that is "incompatible" with a game, and isn't just a burned out 20 something year old cartridge are slim to none.

Bottom line - you are able to play it on a 7800, just not tat one in particular. This isn't due to a compatiblity issue that goes across the board. It's an isolated incident, especially considering Time Pilot isn't even on the list of "possible frequent offenders".

And the "manufacturing defect" with the cart slot is REALLY easily fixed. It requires a philips head screwdriver and a solid pair of scissors. 1. Unscrew the 4 screws on the bottom of the 7800 unit, and open the plastic shell casing. 2. Find the "Cart Cup" that surrounds the Cartridge port. 3. Use scissors to cut straight down on the corners of the "cart cup". It may crack. Fear not, this is fine. It is a useless piece of plastic. 4. Test to see that previously Non-fitting carts now fit properly. (if not, cut into cup elsewhere until they do.) 5. Replace shell casing and screws. Enjoy!

In your "random SMS games" pile - do you have a Transbot Sega Card? -
Chris has been nothing short of fantastic in price, delivery, and quality, EVERY time I've dealt with him. Nathan needs to stop looking for free stuff. What a bunch of bullshit.

The screenshots on Atariage for all the 7800 games are from Emulators, not actual Atari 7800 consoles. There is not an emulator in existence that correctly emulates the color palette of the Atari 7800. None of them are an accurate gauge of what the game will look like on an actual console.
-
I've owned 2 7800's and neither of tehm have had any problem playing any 2600 or 7800 games, unless the games themselves were not working. Never once had a compatibility problem.

Search for my thread on Orphan from last year. I got burned by them too, and they got all defensive and stupid about it, even posting on here and trying to claim otherwise. They took several weeks to get back to me on anything, shipped me out a Stargate 2600 cart that didn't work, and then tried to say they tested it and it worked "on their system", yet I now own another one, and it works fine. Then when they got it back - they tried to claim that I switched the one they sent me for another broken one, like I was trying to scam them. They were very rude and defensive in nearly every reply when I tried to rectify the situation before I shipped back the cart, and came on here claiming that I "refused their help". I had asked them to ship me out the other Stargate cart they had in stock, but they refused, and told me they would only refund my Paypal which they did, but it was never about the money I just wanted a cart that worked. They also sent me a 7800 Summer Games cart in box with instructions that looked like they found it in someone's backyard. It actually had topsoil on the cart and on the box, which was warped and bubbled, like it had seen a few nights out in a rainstorm. Yet they sold it in "CIB Very Good" condition. The manual needes to be ironed too. Terrible. Avoid them if at all possible.

I don't even mind that he prefaced asking by admitting he couldn't be bothered doing the work. I just wonder why he asked 3 times in 3 threads the same question. Why not just spend that time doing it yourself?
-
I don't think 2 threads asking for this stuff is enough. Let's start a few more.
-
With the box you could probably get $60 +/- on ebay.

My only problem with making the cart only version different is that there's a large number of people who only play these games in emulators and don't have real hardware. Some of them would probably be willing to purchase the final rom if given the chance, but if they're snubbed and the final version is only released on cart, you can bet your bottom dollar that it'll be pirated even faster, just to spite the release of it being cart only.
-
That doesn't mean there aren't a good number of us CC2 owners who wold be willing to pay full price for just the final rom though. And there are means of adding a special identifier or individualized signature into the code of each so that the leak could be indentified. Honestly - I'd buy both. Although, I'd like to think Ken would hook up a Cart buyer with a rom for a discount.

But the 2600 is far superior to the 2500 because it has 100 more. You don't know what you're talking about. I am supremely intelligent. Look at me LOOK AT ME!!!!!

Is anyone keeping score here? I don't think I've ever seen anyone on this board be so roundingly discredited on false information, and universally laughed at for being such a buffoon in the entire time I've posted here. Is this guy for real?

Maybe jbanes want to get a room with anyone. He seems desperate for attention. He's now trolling me in PMs. I will post them now, since he seems to think it really bothers me. Whatever you say, Danno. Whatever you say. By the way - stay out of my PM box. BWHAHAAHAA! God, you are as insane as I've been warned about. So here's a special message for you Danno! I'M IN YOUR PM BOX! BWHAHAHAHA! Insane? no. Going to allow idiots like you and Shadow640 to police me on the board or tell me that my sarcasm warps your fragile little mind and I'm a bad man for it? You're kidding, right? You don't want me to start on you. I made a JOKINGLY SARCASTIC post about the NES, simply because I don't like it, and you acted as if I stole your girlfriend and shit in your hat. Then you got owned 6 ways to Sunday by Zylonbane, and you're still at it. .

Fine with me. I never demanded anything else. And you owe a lot of people apologies for train wrecking a perfectly good conversation. How about I get one from you for having a coniption fit over the fact that you misread my OPINION as a comparison? It takes two to trainwreck a thread, and you started very early on here.

You're right...that's why no one bought one 996871 Britney Spears sell millions of records too. 997078 Which means that alot of people like her music...just not me...doesn't mean it's crap. Your statement of the NES is your opinion, yet you state it as if it is fact. Seems to me that you think that the NES is completely worthless, which simply isn't the case. Surely there are 1 or 2 games on it worth your time. Even the Odyssey 2 has KC Munchkin 997590 Actually - it means a lot of people buy her music(that doesn't necessarily mean they like it), because they have it drilled into their heads that they should like it. It's less a conscious choice and more like a pavlovian response. Same thing with the NES. Clever and persistent marketing could make a Tyson beef-product pattie be remebered as a 16 ounce Porterhouse, if applied correctly and repetitively. Sure there are a game or two that the NES deserves merit for. But I just don't like it overall. I think the graphics are overrated by many fans, the color palette is putrid, the characters are (as with all Nintendo systems) too cutesy and kidsy, and the flickering is distracting enough that I could not retain interest in playing 99% of the games. And it just bugs me when someone comes into the 7800 forum to praise teh NES and pan the 7800. Do that in the other systems forums, or on another nintendo board, ya know?
-
Nah, just more prolific. At least I'm trying to mix a little information in with the regularly scheduled abuse. I think I'm going to give up on jbanes though... he's so clearly convinced that he really knows what he's talking about, that I'm afraid there's no dissuading him. Maybe some other coders could take a shot at it. 997564 This is why I stepped away from teh Copyright argument that came up in that other thread. I read his replies and realized that no matter how it was explained, I didn't think he was really going to listen, simply because he's convinced himself he was so right. Not to mention, I bore easily when people make longwinded, serpentine responses.
-
So you don't really know - and you're just guessing - but you're correcting people. Wow. Talk about arrogance.

People who make stupid statements like this are ALWAYS doing themselves a disservice. This is the exact same thinking that produces the "5200 is waste of plastic and solder" line. Neither one is true, and you ought to be ashamed of yourself. The truth of the matter is quite simple. The NES beat the 7800 technologically in the same way that the 7800 "beat" the 5200. Like we've been discussing, the 5200 had more memory, more powerful controllers (even if the non-centering point sucked), and a few other points in its favor. It's generally beat out by the 7800, however, by the fact that the 7800 can produce more sprites that look better, and more complex playfields. In the same way, the Nintendo beats out the 7800 not on the number of sprites, but on its "cheap trick" of providing a tiling background and more earthy color tones. In addition, the Nintendo also had far superior sound and music ability, in a time when gamers were not used to background music in their home consoles. These factors combined, and made for a "superior" console to the 7800. Sure, the 7800 could push more sprites, but that doesn't help anyone when you have no need to render so many. The Nintendo's sprite capability was sufficient for most games, leaving the rest of its features to carry the day. Combine this with the superior artistry demonstrated in the games from Japan, and you will find that the 7800 never stood a chance. 997368 I never liked the NES. Didn't like it when I was 13, don't like it now at 33. I'm not going to start liking it, simply because you brag about it's technological abilities (or your misperceived vision of them). The color palette of the NES was suitable for quilting, or making fake throw-up. I don't particulary like my videogames to be consistently forest green, vomit fuscia, and shit brown, thanks. The "cheap trick" you refer to had one majorly dissapointing side effect - graphics that flicker so badly, most games were rendered unplayable due to their ability to trigger epileptic seizures in certain players. The artistry you claim is "superior" I always found to be childish and lacking in originality. If I want to save the world as a "Kiss-Kiss Musroom" a "Fuzzy Teddy Bear" or a smiling Pokemon inspired stuffed animal - I'd be shopping at Babies R US. I like my opinion. I have nothing to be "ashamed" of for stating it, and frankly find your inability to separate a stated personal preference from a comparison rather laughable. Note - I never claimed the 7800's superiority - I simply said that the NES is a steaming pile of crap. And to me - it is a steaming pile of crap. get it? If I wanted to discuss the merits of the NES over the 7800, I wouldn't be posting in the 7800 forum of a website called "Atariage".

Best plan I've heard froma 7800 homebrew developer yet.
