  1. I don't see any way that there would be a PSP sub forum before a DS sub forum. Let's just be realistic. I think they should make a forum outside of the Modern Gaming section called Handhelds. I think the thinking is that a lot of people here are into older console emulation, and the PSP's emulation capabilities are far more extensive than the DS, so it gets talked about more here. I'd be happy with just one stickied thread with instructions on how to get the downgrade/custom firmware stuff working so taht I don't have to repeat myself so often.
  2. two thoughts on this: 1. moycon came into this thread in that last 2 days with no other intent but to troll me, yet everyone is chastising me for posting news bits related to the TOPIC OF THE THREAD. 2. I don't see the problem with using certain language. we're all adults here. people need to grow up. This thread is about the HD format war. that's what the original post was about, and what the entire context of it's content is. Why anyone feels the need to say "you shouldn't talk about this silly format war" in a thread that is SPECIFICALLY about the format war is just plain childish. I have an opinion. Others have theirs too. We share opinions, and make jokes about them, or share information. No big deal. But apparently moycon is taking this all a bit personally, since he's trolling around behind me, countering my every post, and telling me where I should post, what I should post about, and whether I'm welcome or not. Since when is moycon the admin for atariage?
  3. Pulling bogus "facts" out of your ass to support your format love isn't either. You come here to post a bunch of garbage, blowing sunshine towards Blu-Ray and trying to slam HD DVD, even going so far as to post your shit propaganda into threads that have nothing to do with Blu-Ray. That seems your sole purpose for coming to this forum these days...but I'm the douchebag??? Errrrrr What exactly are we disagreeing on? That you're full of it? Because you're right I think you are if you don't. Is that what this is about? Go back into hiding Danno, Believe me, no one gives a crap about your "war" God damn you got the love of your life...a Blu-Ray player. Go use the thing if it's so great! (Try not to get your pecker caught in the slot) It's gonna be ok, big fella. Just come own off that ledge.
  4. what an incredible little troll you've become. had I posted anything even remotely this trollish, you'd be crying to the mods for posting in "someone else's thread". You're a fucking crybaby. OK Truth hurts don't it? I suppose it would if you posted some. Acting like a complete douchebag because someone disagrees with you isn't very becoming though.
  5. what an incredible little troll you've become. had I posted anything even remotely this trollish, you'd be crying to the mods for posting in "someone else's thread". You're a fucking crybaby.
  6. 698 posts and half of em devoted to his un-natural love for a goofy format that'll be dead in 5 years regardless if it does better than HD DVD. you sound like every VHS manufacturer did in April of 1997.
  7. Nope. Your point is now valid. Good use of sources. As I said... it's not that I didn't believe the statement (I actually knew it to be true.) You just haven't made your statements easy to believe at face value. Now, how about some more interesting figures? Source for the following: Hmmm... in standalone players HD-DVD is outselling Blu-Ray. That is significant considering there is no question whatsoever as to the intent of the purchaser when they purchase a standalone player. I finished the one good game for the system... what am I going to do with it now? You mean to tell me that there is a blu-laser thingy in here that will play movies? But they are more expensive then DVD's? Figures. Hmmm... 50k units? That's jagnormeous! So there it is. Blu-Ray has about 50k more units in use when the consoles are factored in. HD-DVD has sold more standalone players. Blu-Ray has a slightly higher attach rate and has sold more movies. I don't see the clear win Blu-Ray fans are touting in any of these numbers. Ultimately the most important number to note is this one: Source This really is the fight the whole world cares about isn't it? I'm curious how your source has ps3 sales listed at 1.4 million, when mine clearly listed it at 4.28 mil. Could they be miscounting, or simply lying? At any rate, player sales aren't even what will decide this thing. It's disc sales, which has been consistently and overwhelmingly in favor of Blu-Ray, by at the lowest point a 2:1 margin, and 4:1 in most foreign markets. But it's fun to talk about, provided people don't get all retarded about it and start telling people what they can or can't post about on a silly video game site. It's all entertainment.
  8. Read through the whole thread, you'll see that Danno is privy to a whole mess of information like this. Bogus information fabricated in his own little Blu-Ray world. LOL Honestly could anyone a year ago imagine there would be fanboys for formats? Gee my format for watching 1080p is better than your format for watching 1080p. You have to wonder what boring lives some folks have based on their passions. Says the guy with 12,472 posts on a retro gaming board about a guy with 698 posts.
  9. Where were you hiding Danno? I thought you were never going to come back. I know you've been around but your posts have been missed. I noticed you didn't take the time to reply to the thread in the XBox 360 forum. Don't like to reply to arguments you have already lost? Where's the source for your statement that 20% of the PS3 sales total more then all HD-DVD unit sales combined? Not that I don't believe you but things you have stated as fact have been proven wrong before (like in the thread you refuse to post in.) Considering that, it would require a source to make your posts valid as your statements have proven to be biased and unreliable. That just comes with fanboyism I suppose. I haven't been hiding anywhere. I was told by others in that thread that essentially posting anything but resounding praise of HD DVD in "someone else's thread" was tantamount to high treason, so I just figured I'd let the crybabies keep their thread. as for the sales figures, look for yourself. at the end of Q2, PS3 sales stand at 4.28 million. whereas as of Q2 2007, HD DVD was reporting only 180,000 units sold. So let's see - 4.28 million - 180K = 4.1 million more. ouch. Would you like to try this again?
  10. I swear that Danno dude created Blu-Ray or invested heavily in Blu-Ray or something, I'll bet he is taking this personally. LOL You don't find it rather sleazy that Microsoft paid Paramount $150 million dollars for 18 months of HD DVD exclusivity, and as a result Paramount had to refund thousands of consumer's deposits on Amazon.com Blu-ray per-orders because they canceled the releases 1 week out from shipping? This is an absolute mess for Paramount. They didn't even tell people in their production departments. People were still working on the Blu-Ray release of Transformers and Blades of Glory up until friday night. James Cameron, Francis Ford Coppola, and Sir Steven all have outs from this deal, and their movies won't be released on HD DVD. The whole thing is an absolute mess. The buzz on industry websites is that Spielberg may even fold Dreamworks altogether as a result.
  11. 20% of PS3's sold to date is more than ALL HD DVD players sold.
  12. they got paid $150 mil, it doesn't include Spielberg, and is only for 18 months Also of Note, on the same day: Fox/MGM released it's Blu-Ray releases list for the next 2 quarters. 29 releases. Michael Bay, director of the Box Office hit "Transformers" for Paramount has officially tendered his resignation as director of the in pre-production sequel "Transformers 2", and will no longer direct films for Paramount Pictures until they resume Blu-Ray support. Ouch. Hope that $150 million dollar bribe was worth it to get No Spielberg and No Michael Bay movies.
  13. I'd say that if you are going to be that anal about it (which is perfectly ok, btw!) that maybe emulation on a PC is a better choice for you. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT !! Anal about it ???,how is me wanting the original space invaders on the 2600 being anal...jeez honestly some people are so imature here. because you're asking inane questions that are easily answered with a search of this site. The 2600 was not capable of 100% accurate recreation of the arcade version of Space Invaders. Everyone knows this.
  14. all anyone has to do is look at the upcoming releases list for the PSP to see it's doing just fine and dandy. There really aren't any other portables for adults/older teens, and there's plenty of market to share with the DS for the kids for the PSP to still be a profitable success. If there were another competitor or two, they might be in trouble, but there isn't.
  15. You talk to a lot of uninformed people.
  16. they don't give a shit about your knowledge. You bragged about your collection too much, and they realized that you already own 90% of what they push. the first rule of getting hired at an Game store is convincing them that you're going to blow your whole paycheck on their products. You already own too much stuff. You aren't a good investment for them.
  17. "People's threads" I love this oft-used misconception. Last time I checked, it was a public forum, used by thousands of people, and no one who posts here can claim ownership of anything, beyond the Atariage.com staffers. "Stop posting opinions I don't like on my thread." is the internet equivalent of "I'm taking my ball and going home."
  18. Didn't say that either. Boy you sure do assume a lot, dont you? Just trying to help a brother out is all. Letting you know there are plenty of folks that would eat up your praise for Blu-Ray Danno. If you want to and feel nessecarry to post (what everyones heard from you dozens of times) in peoples HD DVD thread, feel free. Doesn't matter what your credentials are...It's still lame friend, if you can't see it ....don't get mad at me for mentioning it. How is posting positively about one format (Blu-Ray) lame, but posting positively about another (HD-DVD), not lame? And if you didn't want my credentials, then why did you challenge them earlier?
  19. I didn't call you a fan boy, I merely took the 5 seconds to click on Danno's "Find Members Post's" and saw that you have very little interest in coming to a classic video game forum to discuss anything other than Blu-Ray. Just thought I'd help point you in the direction of folks that might give a crap about your un-natural attraction to new media formats is all. You've spent over a month here telling us how great you think Blu-Ray is (and nothing else )....even to the point of spewing your crap in someones HD-DVD thread. Get over it man. Yep. And I plan to continue posting whatever opinion or Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, or whatever else I like, where ever I like. I've been registered here for 3 1/2 years. Never you mind the fact that I'm a long time MESS dev and also recently worked with another dev to bring brand new 2600 and 7800 emu ports to the PSP. You don't like my opinions? Don't read em.
  20. You guys act like the word "fanboy" has some kind of negative connotation. Yet anyone who posts in support of HD-DVD is somehow miraculously not a fanboy. I guess this makes me a psychic plant, who registered here before BLu-Ray or Hd-DVD were even invented.
  21. You guys keep yapping about picture quality. The real difference, is SOUND quality. The difference between standard DVD & HD-DVD's Lossy compressed to hell Dolby Digital 5.1 and Uncompressed 7.1 channel audio of Blu-Ray is like night and day.
  22. Listen, you can argue what you want, but please don't say anything this silly to me if you are even bothering to argue with me. Your points are, as always, completely out to lunch, and I'd have to be out there with them to "know" they were "valid". Your definition of Kiddie and Mature are so limited that it makes everything else you try to argue completely useless. Castlevania, Contra, Hotel Dusk, Nanostray, etc are NOT for children. I'll repeat that, they are NOT for children. Just because your definition of "kiddie" is "anything without an M on the box", doesn't make that correct. You're being a fanboy has lots to do with it, because it has impaired your ability to grasp even that simple concept. Posting pictures won't help me, because you've blinded yourself too much. You'd see "Kirby Canvas Curse, and ignore the arcade gameplay in favour of noting that it looked too "pretty" for you to be comfortable playing it. You'd see Elite Beat Agents, and ignore that it's tough as nails in favour of noting it had cartoons dancing. Then you'd, again, make the useless point that there's a lot of actual children's games in there, as though that somehow hurt the good games. If a little girl can buy a Strawberry Shortcake game for the DS, am I supposed to hate Meteoes now? If a little boy can get his Naruto fix on there, is Under the Knief now less good? I will never, in my life, understand how you think, as I like gaming, and you seem to be into something else. Some kind of thing where you collect the letter M. The DS is a system for little kids. The PSP is not. Pulling out the 3 or 4 mature titles and saying how non-kiddie they are doesn't change the fact that of the 250 +/- games available for the DS, 90% of them are cutesy kids games.
  23. Depending on the price you paid..That might be a good deal. Where did you get it again? Wait a minute...Did you say Blur-Ray? Dang no wonder they offered it with such an incentive. Best Buy. I got it with a 15% off coupon, for $500 + 10 free movies. Essentially, I paid about $250 for it. the movies I got were: The Transporter The Transporter 2 Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest Fantastic 4 Casino Royale Chicken Little Corpse Bride Stealth The Italian Job These are all movies I would have bought.
  24. Wow, a whole $20. and 5 movies. Reading>you. That really is an awesome deal. If I'd have waited an extra couple weeks I would have definately snapped that up new rather than gone the used route. With 5 free movies it's like getting the player for $79 Which is why I bought the newest Panasonic Blur-Ray player. 10 free movies. 5 in the box, 5 in the mail.
