ok, here's an update on this. I used some alcohol and cleaned the rf plug thoroughly. after this the console basically lost that problem. I also used some alcohol on the little switches on the board. it helped a little bit but you still have to push the power button down and have to hold it there for a few to let it power up. same thing to shut it down. is there something else I could use that might be better? also, what can I use to clean the contacts in the load slot?

the "like new" is what I was told through email when I inquired about it in more detail. in the auction it was stated as "tested to work great"

the cable is good since it works on my other 7800. I bought this system mainly as a backup. how hard is it to remove that big chrome cover that sits over everything? where do you start with that?

I recently purchased a "working like new" system from an ebay seller and it has a few problems. first is the fact that the power switch doesn't work right. I opened the unit up and low and behold was a duct tape rig-job on the button. the tape was wrapped around that little tab that comes down to hit the board switch. I removed the tape and all those little tabs(start, pause, etc.) are all the same length. non are broke. I'm assuming there is a problem with the switch on the board. second is the rf plug on the back of the unit. the pic goes from perfect to downright hideous by touching the cable. the power adapter was all messed up(they cut off a chunk of the cable shield(the thick rubber) right at the plug that plugs into the unit and did something with the wires, then it appears they used superglue to finish it off) and when I asked about it they told me it was like new.(I'm not as concerned about this though) I really don't want to leave a negative feedback since they won't leave me any until after I leave it for them. I only have 8 feedback and a negative would prob. hurt my rating. are these things fixable or am I screwed? thanks for any help.

do you think they would sell? in todays market of PS2 and X-BOX do you think Atari could bite back and take a chunk of those sales just because it's retro? what do you think? just think, they could start making this again and sell it for under 50.00 and make new carts and sell them new for say 5.00-10.00. I know, what am I smoking?

man, that is some collection. I just got back into atari around 3 weeks ago. to date I have purchased 1 2600 Darth Vader and 2 7800's. this is to complement my original woodgrain 2600 that doesn't work for some reason. I have also found an Atari cx-80 trak-ball new in the box. between the 3 systems I have aquired around 34 carts. after I get my cart # to over 100 I might try to hunt down a colecovision. I could disown my parents for selling all my stuff awhile back.

hi all. I am having a bit of trouble finding carts for my newly aquired systems. besides ebay is there anyplace online that sells these? I would hate to have to try bidding on complete systems in order to get a decent amount of carts.

can you create copies of other games or something? if you can, how exactly do you do this? what is needed for it?

I was given a few carts from the sears label that are too small for either my 2600 or 7800. is there supposed to be an adapter for these?

I have been out of the atari loop for many,many years. I now want to try to purchase a 7800 but I notice some units are being sold as a 7800 while others are a 7800 pro. is there a difference or is there only 1 system? any help you can give me would be great as I want to get one of these systems. thank you. chris.
