Unfortunately, lots of people went freaky nuts over tablets when the iPad came about, predicting that desktops were "dead" and that tablet-like devices (including "tabletized" desktops) were the "Way of the Future". A lot of the subsequent disappointment came from unrealistic expectations. I prefer maintaining a sense of balance; everything has its place.

Jailbreak makes it a real computer. Every device I own I have hacked. Not just Apple, PSP, PS2, DVD players, Genesis. Add the iPad camera connector and you have USB, SD cards, keyboards, etc. I even connect VNC to my real computer and program for the 2600. If you don't learn what you can do, yeah it is closed.

Plus jailbroken it emulates a lot, not all, systems. 2600, Sega, NES, ColecoVision, DOSBox, TurboGraphics 16, MSX, PS1, PSP.
