  1. I believe that toy computers like the Atari 8-bit machines and Vic-20 and C-64 are important for sparking the imagination. Today’s kids don’t have access to those kinds of machines. Instead we give them fake laptops by v-tech that can’t hold a 3yr old’s attention. How insulting!

      I think that's really just projecting your personal nostalgia. Most kids did not give a damn about home computers back in the day; even the successful ones were niche by today's standards. And most of those were used just to play. Any system can do that, be it a C64 or a V-Smile. Having blocky graphics won't really do much for kids imagination.       For once, you and I are singing from the same page. Been saying it for years. Kids today, though, have been spoilt by the standards of what we had. They wouldn't put up with blocky graphics. The Pi is supposed to be an evolution of what we had but it's very much a niche product.
