There is nothing wrong with posting in an old thread if you have something relevant to add. If I didn't want people responding to them, I'd have them automatically lock after a certain period of time.

I don't get the issue. You get bitched at for bumping an old post by some people. Others will bitch if you repeat a question / topic that has been asked in the past. It's a lose/lose situation, so do we just stop posting?

Report the posts where people are bitching about it and I will handle it.
