I was seriously exploring the idea of designing a car stereo which could play MP3s on Zip disks; it seemed like that would be a perfect use for them.

The Zip disks' limited tolerance for temperature extremes probably would have killed the idea if it hadn't been made obsolete by flash media.

I still have one, although it's a USB version. Haven't plugged it in in ages.

Couldn't sell a parallel port version a few years ago and ended up donating it to the local BadWill. But agree... I liked the units and concept. And SCSI FTW!
