  1. It's pleasantly amazing how nostalgic and useful 3rd party books are for computers.some are even like alternative (different perspective) manuals.

      I really enjoy reading introductory texts from the early-to-mid 80s (such as "The Visible Computer" for the Apple ][). You have to go back that far to find books which explained the fundamentals of computer architecture and assembly language programming to general audiences. Most of the later computer books focused only on the operating systems and the applications, and later became the "Dummies" books.

      Atari Games & Recreations is my favorite. It attempted to teach two space aliens from a highly advanced planet how to use our simple computers. Since I read it ~2014, the premise made a lot more sense than it would have in 1984.

      I just got about 1,000 pages of MS-DOS and Norton Utilities 7 information spread across 2 books.

       

      I expect to know some of the material, and to discover new tricks or tools from the rest.
