  1. The TURBO button on 486 machines doesn't actually change the clock speed like it does on 386 and earlier rigs. On the 486 it inserts wait-states all over the place instead!

      In my rather limited experience with ye olde Turbo button, it works like the button at pedestrian crosswalks. Gives one something to do, but doesn't work.

      I'm trying to remember if any applications required TURBO to be off. I seem to recall that either Lotus 1-2-3 or dBase was one of the culprits?
