Does that make it worse or just different?

Different. Maybe more complex. As more is learned about the disease the better the chances of treatments and vaccines. It's why there are blood clots.

I'd say it makes it "worse" given that it helps explain why the overall death rates in areas of covid infection are much higher than yearly norms and why people much younger than the national averages are having strokes/etc this year.  It explains why there are so many asymptomatic people as well if respiratory infection is just a side effect as the virus attempts to get inside.

On the plus side, it gives the doctors more ideas for what types of drugs may be effective against it.
