      Eltigro

I've had tacos for three straight days.

  6. "Enjoying" the evening upgrading my old zip drives to the 1998 firmware and Phaeton PPI ASIC. Much better than the 68HC16 in Z100P models. Calibrating and cleaning heads. Balancing motors. Repairing busted snap-tite case tabs. Cleaning contacts. Completing driver sets for all supported OS'es. Testing read/write/format capabilities. Washing cases.. A generally fun, but getting tedious now, project.

  7. "Hard-Off".. A term only inventable by NASA.

In this particular instance it was used to ensure a press conference ended at an exact time.

Hard-Off is a chain of stores in Japan selling second hand items.

Since they blow so much hot air, I'd like to see a special "Politicians Gobal Warming Tax" for all the CO2 they expel, while at the same time claiming it's harmful.

Not a fan of that idea...Hurts jobs (ask the bottlers)...Things like that (soda not soda tax), well, enjoy things in moderation...Like most things, letting the consumer (market) decide is a good idea...More people drink bottled water anyway these days.

Bottled water has become the #1 best seller among purchased drinks.

That's the problem with undeserving, no-talent, injection-molded pop stars: once one of them fizzles out in a media-fueled self-immolation, along comes another one to take its place.

  14. #2, everybody reacts differently. The baby: it giggles. The toddler: Mommy!! Mommy!! I did it!! The teen: ewh gross! The middle-ager: enjoys the relief. Old people: don't even know it happens.

  15. +1 for Madonna! She upgraded to SneakerNet for production work. http://arstechnica.com/security/2014/12/madonna-turns-to-the-sneakernet-after-album-leak/

I've been wondering why they haven't been doing that for years.

    2. Keatah

      Keatah

Yep. There's a certain glamour and glitz and wow-factor in using networks. I was that way when I first "discovered" Ethernet and NICs. But after a while I went back to old-school sneakernet or isolated not-on-the-internet transfer protocols.

The wife conducts all her business that way, too. There's nothing that can't wait till the next day unless it's tabloid gossip.

Nobody really appreciates the level to which the world's computer systems are compromised. There was an article years back where a 'hacker' showed a reporter back-end access to dozens of the world's biggest companies.

save2600 lol you can't compare a CF card to today's SSDs. Make the jump.

    2. Keatah

      Keatah

That's right. The wear leveling is completely different - and the reason your CF failed when used as system disk.
