It was cool when it was a place to browse for obscure books back in 1998 and then obscure things in 2008, but now it's basically eBay.

It's E-bay with more fake laptop batteries.

Oh and how could I forget... every single time I order from Amazon - something (usually several things as in this very last time) ends up damaged due to their horseshit packaging. More like NO packaging. Just movies and music thrown into a box, left to rattle and crush each other. So aggravating. DVD's always wind up scratched. Thankfully Blu-ray have the scratch resistant coating.

I ordered something off ebay and it came in Amazon packaging, Very Quickly...Lessee Ordered Aug. 2 it got here the 5th on a Sunday no less! (And from the USPS!)...I was blown away by that!

That happened to me too, day and a half. Why in amazon packing?

Wow, they're sure sucking the fun out of those stores.

I've wondered why more e-tailers don't pick up vacant retail spaces on the cheap and expand their local distribution.

(Of course, it would be better if Toys-R-Us had survived and used the stores as their *own* distribution centers, but since they won't be using them anymore, it might as well be Amazon.)

I suppose the financial stuff is a given. They want to know your community status and education. It also helps if you get colleague and dealership recommendations.

If you're an apartment junkie and you win the lottery, you're going to have to pay off people if you want a new ferrari.

It's fun how tracking lets you look up the skirt of how all this big shipping companies handle your parcel. Creates a lot of tension and emotional involvement when it was previously invisible a couple decades ago.

I miss the days when operating systems had numbers, slashes, dashes, and the letters "OS" in their names.

I don't like the idea of downloading a 50 GB pack of roms, likely from a torrent, containing a bunch of stuff I don't want, with my limited data plan, just to use MAME.

Some torrents let you selectively grab individual files. Others do not. A friend of mine gets a new set of roms every 4 years from a burner.

That's why I only stick to one version of MAME based on the ROM pack I downloaded.

I had to scrap several consoles, too, in order to have comfortable room for enjoyment of my original childhood units. Was surprisingly hard to find anyone that wanted them!

yeah, sometimes it seems things change as far as collectibles go, I need to pay more attention. I see original 84 macs gor pretty well but mac se not so much,I have 1 of each but no kb's...

Probably not. Apple II machines are one of the few that will continue to gain new interest. Because Apple. And no other reason.

Its high price also repels people with more common sense than disposable income.

All the casual and good sellers were driven on by ebays awful seller policies. I have tons of stuff I could sell but wont,too risky to sell on ebay.

I got screwed big time on eBay this week. I listed half a dozen games that should have been worth $10 or so each for auction starting at $0.99... and they all sold for $0.99 and not a penny more. And the mint condition NES that I paid $90 for last year went for $41. I'm not happy about any of it, but I honored my sales and shipped them out.

Mail them a box of angry bees.

Jin... I think a lot of us, myself included, have made that mistake. In the future, either start the auction at the lowest price you will accept, or just use BIN at the price you'd prefer to sell it for. Better luck in the future!
