  1. Assortment of DX and fx from Nikon. 7100, 750, Df, and we're testing the new fresnel lens. Also bringing my old Celestron c8, and some standard prime and basic zooms. Most of this is the wife's paraphernalia. But the c8 is mine from the 70's!

  2. Asteroids and SpaceWar are highly educational. They teach you both basic and advanced physics. You learn momentum and gravity. You also learn about open and closed and wrap around universes. And you learn that there is nothing outside of the universe itself!

  3. Astronauts are like grade schoolers. They get woken up in the morning, fed, and put on the bus. Only difference is that bus doesn't go to school, it goes to a rocket.

  4. AT&T is so fullashit. They say they have 5GE networks. They don't. They're lying. And they're saying their customers love it!

I need to get away from AT&T. I just haven't wanted to go through the headache of doing it.

AT&T wireless is a separate business unit from the landline stuff -- it's the old Cingular network/company and ages away from the old Ma Bell, but still rather sucky.

Nathan, T-Mobile's One Amplified deal is really nice if your employer qualifies for it. It's closer to unlimited than any of the others, and cheap -- plus they pick up Netflix for you which makes it even less.

$25 for a new SIM, a credit check, and you're off and running. Much less of a headache than I imagined.

      Also, free tacos every Tuesday.

I am not making this up.

  5. Atari VCS and Atari SA are unstoppable. Not the community, not the taco thread, can stop it. The pre-orders keep rolling in!

Don't get too excited about the total. Now they have to DELIVER, which is the hard part.

It certainly has been an interesting study in people's propensity for confirmation bias.

      LOL so true, Jin.

Atari was great, so this is going to be great! NOPE

Crowdfunding is disappointing, so this is likely to be disappointing! Um, yeah, probably.

To be fair, a taco thread makes more sense since tacos actually exist.

No only an idiot would advertise a nonexistent console, with hype and social media, but no system, no games, no engineers, no shell, no hardware and (maybe) no software.

1mm closer to the center of the earth means higher gravity. And thus a slower oscillation.

That was always a valid and correct statement. It's like the traveling salesman problem of visiting all the cities in less than X miles. Efficient route planning padt Gravity wells may require a really fast ship like the falcon.

  15. Awesome! I picked up enough spare parts to totally rebuild my laptop 2x over, for the cost of shipping! Now I can be assured this computing environment will be viable throughout the 21st century.

Maybe I'll ask my boss if he still has it and treat it with a small memory upgrade (max 1.5gb) and some ssd (does that play nice with win xp?)

    2. Keatah

      Keatah

Older SSD no. Newer SSD yes. And there is a lot of confusion surrounding TRIM as evidenced here. But I do know for a fact that intel drives have their own trim utility for optional usage if needed.

The house is moody, quiet, the box of interface cards sitting in the corner. The rain pitter pattering and falling out of a monochromatic sky onto the windowsill. Humidity you can smell. The perfect anti-static environment!
