  1. It's comical. Some people say software X is supported by hardware Y. And yet, the two things are nowhere near working together.

But better never to try software Y with hardware X.

Some prefer their XX softwares without plugging in any XY hardware ...

  2. I blew this one snot and it stuck on shower wall. That was over 7 months ago. Today it is black instead of yellow-green. AND IT'S STILL THERE!! I can only guess it dried and hardened. And as it gets wet it gets slimey and the water flows right off of it. Like a bit of undercooked pasta. Like a small space colony dome thing.

Why would I share it? I'm bored while I think about how to organize part of my collection. How d]id I know it was slimy? I touched it.

If I would have pressed it it would likely have shot out from under my thumb.

  3. This thing here. It's like a home made thing. It kinda fell apart. And the power supply went out. And it's no good.

I told ya you needed to change the back tire before that power supply blew but NOOOO! somebody just wouldn't listen :P

  5. How does one "port" a game to MAME? There are those that actually think this has to be done!

Are you trying to get a computer or console rom to run on arcade hardware? Is that the idea?

    3. Inky

      Inky

I think Pong is a port on MAME, just because of the discrete logic in the arcade game, made it impossible to port.

  7. Intel is still stuck on 14nm process! They suxorz!

    1. Flojomojo

      Flojomojo

Apple already has 7nm process on a commercially available device, priced at under $1000. I know lots of people who already have bought into it. https://www.anandtech.com/show/13392/the-iphone-xs-xs-max-review-unveiling-the-silicon-secrets/2

I don't believe cost-effectiveness is an issue. Rather the reverse. Cooling isn't either.

I didn't know the A12 was 7nm. Thought it was 10nm. Good for them!

  8. When I was a kid I used to watch The Day After. Play Missile Command. And blow my air raid siren. Pissed off the whole house.

    1. MrMaddog

      MrMaddog

Yeah, they were scaring kids away from watching it but had that cheapo X-Ray flash effect. Go watch Terminator 2 for a real nuke scene...

    2. Keatah

      Keatah

I didn't have a REAL siren that alerted the entire town. It was some sort of outdoor horn with an amplifier which was then hooked to one of those siren project kits. It was loud though, you could hear it several blocks away.

    3. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

Haha! Blocks Away?? The neighbors are quietly watching The Day After, when they hear the alarms outside,...The mob probably rushes the one guy on the block with his own bomb shelter (a La Twilight Zone)

  9. What makes a few select carts sell for thousands & thousands of dollars? To me it's just a piece of plastic? WTF am I missing? And why are they valued like that?

    1. Eltigro

      Eltigro

Funny thing is, most of the time it seems they aren't even that fun to play. I mean, some rare sought after games are supposed to be pretty fun like Dinosaur Peak and Little Samson, but who really wants to play Stadium Events? Bleh.

"Most" people won't pay the insane bounties, so it's not like these twits are accomplishing anything except for showing they like to pay to win.

  16. Thinking of chronicling my Apple II stuff in series of videos. KingAssripper style in shorts only. Probably won't do it but the thought keeps crossing my mind.

  17. Glad I'm done with having to get Apple II stuff. Ebay prices are ridiculous. And there are almost 2700 items listed. A number that keeps increasing every year.

Just wait, eventually the market will hit the saturation point, then the glut hits, and finally prices drop like stones.

  18. The word of the day is Xylospongium. How did I get there from reading about the Sun's corona?!??!

    1. Eltigro

      Eltigro

You went from reading about the Sun to something that is used to clean where the Sun doesn't shine.

    2. Keatah

      Keatah

Essentially. I also use a smaller version to clean the cracks and crevices of my classic computer stuff.

      Eltigro

I didn't know the word before googling it... I was thinking it was something to do with the layers of a tree... but that's Xylem...

No, no, no - it's spelt Raymond Luxury Yach-t, but it's pronounced 'Throatwobbler Mangrove'.

I pronounce "Keatah" the way James Lipton says the word theater.

  20. Instead of "You got this" it's now "You do you".. Ugh!!

    1. Keatah

      Keatah

The "You got this" phrase was thankfully short-lived from somewhere around late 2014 through end of 2017. Hopefully the same applies to the new one.

Some would say I do me a lot...like way too much ...Umm I mean...Still others would say buy stock in a hand lotion company..>wait that's not it ....

@Keatah, I have an old iXserver 1U rack PC built by Wind River Systems. I used it as a UNIX mail/web/proxy server back in the 90s. It's still around and functional, I think it had BSDi. PM me if you are interested. :)

We need a moderator in the Intellivision forum. Necroposts hardly happen because virtually every day we get a new post on the same topic, sometimes two or three! It's like people confuse the "create topic" and "reply" buttons. Jeesh.
