  1. This week's cozy evening read, Frozen Star by George Greenstein. A fascinating layman's text on black holes and other high-gravity objects. Has a chapter about what it would be like on Earth if The Sun suddenly morphed into a black hole.

  2. Settling in for the 2nd half of the evening after observing the Andromeda Galaxy. It's visible through binoculars or a small telescope. Or just the naked eye in remote dark skies. Got some soup and settling in the den for night. Looks like a snow front is coming.

  3. Watching a euetooberh build a $28,000 PC. Cool thing is I'll be able to get that level of performance and storage for $1000 by next year. Love it! Love the preview!

  4.

Well, yes.. It's AMD. What did you expect?

  5. I hate it when I blow a snot and don't know where it ended up. Stuck on some furniture? Splattered on a painting? On the side of some dish? Inbetween keyboard keys? On the side of my shirt?

It's usually in plain sight. I'm just not looking in that exact spot. Hope to find it before someone else does cause it's a loogie alright. Pre-picked it too!

Ever hear the term "snot rocket"?    You push one nostril closed and blow out the other one really hard.

  6. Watching and laughing at these huetooberz gyrating and spinning while trying to influence the videogame collectors market. While trying not to appear that's what they're doing. Predicting prices and all that shit.. Pfagghh!

There's a Youtube interview with the guy who wrote the new, excellent Jaguar emulator.  The interviewer is all, "But won't this bring down the value of my Jaguar collection?  Lots of collectors are worried!"
No, dude, you're literally the only guy who looks at this amazing new emulator and worries about his 'investment'...

Then there are these YouTubers that are literally spinning around like goofs making "influeincing" content for kids...that's another generation that won't go to school or work so they can be influencers themselves.

So with you on this... been eyeballing the Commodore 128... but $300 just really seems like too much for a 38 year old computer that literally could go out a day or so after you buy it. I really wish it was easy to do, cheap reproduction of some of these famous retro computers... come on Aliexpress or Retrogames LTD. lol.

Agreed.  I'm a software engineer and I worked in the are of AI/machine learning for several years.  We are so unbelievably far away from what everyone *thinks* when they hear "AI". I can explain to people enough how simple it all is right now.

That being said, the area of art is actually a good area for it, because one of the most difficult parts of AI is coming to the right/most sensible answers to problems.  That doesn't exist with art.  There is no right answer, no more efficient result(for the most part). It's just subjective to the utmost degree.

It does make some neat/haunting images in various styles and I for one have already generated several prints for my home/work spaces and will never pay for art again.

^ Awesome!  This is crazy,...But I've never seen the full video of that before! I know the song, of course,  and I think the video was on in the background at my friend's house once in the 80's.  I didn't have MTV (or cable)...Also while I was watching,  New Year's hit and now it's 3 minutes after midnight so I guess I was watching this video, (fully, and paying attention) for the first time...in 2023!

So,  it got me thinking...I wonder if MTV ever played the German version of the song?  I've had the bong in my iTunes for a billion years now (heh) so I thought I'd see if there was a video...Oh that should say "song",  U knew that...I'm leaving it...OK So Yep!  A German version!  I've seen it now too.

@x=usr(1536)  Another user on YouTube had already emailed them via their site.  And as I mentioned, I reached out to one of their forum members on here.  I was just hoping to gather more people to move it up on their list of priorities.

By the way, nice Carnac reference.  👍

  21. Right now it's sub-freezing. Cloudy and blustery. And the moon hasn't risen yet - so it's not bothering me now. A perfect time to tweak some emulators and then settle in with an astronomy book. A book written before exoplanets were a thing. A book that conveyed the mysteries of the cosmos. One with big colorful illustrations. From around the 6502 & 8086 era.
