It's all because of the packaging and box. It "gets" you a certain way. Who gives a shit that you're getting a bit of plastic that houses an emulator. And emulators are something most people here dislike. Really quite the clusterfuck they create in your head. I love it!
-
So they get flunkies to make it for them! Woot!

Wasn't there a game called Boarder Crossing? Dunno.. Maybe it could be modified?
-
It's justified by the frenzy it creates. Though I'd hardly call this "NES chasing" a frenzy at this point in time. Anyways, I love watching this sort of thing. Endless entertainment!

That sound.. TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP

Bwaaahahaha!!

What does the monitor look like when not connected to the //c? And, regarding the disk drive, the speed may be out of spec. Just a thought.
-
Maybe now that the current state of affairs has people jerking back and forth and all excited, attention will turn to other mini consoles like the Atari and Genesis flashbacks or something.
-
I'm not a monitor repair expert and would need schematics to start troubleshooting it. So I wouldn't care to guess. But the lines are normal if brightness or grid acceleration is turned up too much. Other forum members here will eventually post suggestions too.

You can get rom code from ftp://ftp.apple.asimov.com/pub/apple_II/emulators/rom_images/ .. since I don't know the part number offhand I can't tell you which one. Is it 342-0132-D Then you need to get a blank EPROM, again, part number needed. But likely a 2716 style. And finally you need to get EPROM burner, ebay sells them pretty cheap. All-in-all, it may be cheaper to get another //c and scrap it for parts, or use the one you have now for parts to repair a "newer" unit. Or find someone to do a chip repair and/or general system cleanup. Such is life with classic computing.
-
Don't know off hand. Try google searching. Otherwise you'll need to get a blank rom and burn it. The code is available. Or get someone to repair the chip. Repairing the chip is a cinch - keep in mind the repaired chip will be a little more fragile. Another idea is to get another //c and keep one for parts. I do that with all my Apple stuff - keep spares and a coupla piles of parts..

The series of characters at the bottom tells me the system isn't fully reading a disk. One of the first and simple things I'd try would be to use a known, good, and verified disk to boot the machine. Second, ensure that the drive heads are clean. Failing that, then it'll be time to look at hardware & chip issues.

We all disobeyed the rules and got slapped. At least someone cares!!

I don't like giving to most charities, we all know the final recipient gets only a fraction of what is given. It's also not that hard to spot posers in military garb vs. a real combat vet. --- Anyways, back to NES mini. I hear my wal-mart and target have several cartons of them. Don't know what size a carton is. Either way before christmas rolls around I will have gotten a number of these for my winter tech party and giveaway. All it takes is a little patience.

People should wise-up and avoid the scalpers, then they'd go away. Unless they like getting reamed. Then ok! By all means go for it. All it takes to fuel the fires is one or two buyers at 200% markup. People really like taking it up the ass. They're moving at more than $200. Collectards and flunkies - they're out there! http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&LH_Sold=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=15&_stpos=60107&_dmd=1&_ipg=200&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=NES+mini+classic&_sop=16

When I see a vet at a dining establishment we're likely to pick up his tab for the evening. After that we'll go out shopping and maybe get a NES mini, if they're in stock. If not, I may look again next week or something.

Oh yeah. I bet this didn't come in your mailbox.

I received the electric bill and some advertising flyers today. -
They do indeed depreciate quickly. But it is also important to remember that the cost of electronics is extremely inflated when a product if first released - gotta recoup R&D and all that. Future iterations always tend to be cheaper as manufacturing efficiencies, competition, and scale of economy is baked in. And lastly, at EOL, they end up in the $4.99 bargain bin. Anyhow. That's the whole purpose of these flashback/mini consoles. Attractive package and simple operation. Just plug and go fun.
-
It is. And the color harmony on the package is attractive. The personal unboxing experience is sure to be premium and pleasurable in many ways.

I'm pretty sure them young'uns understand. And would be interested in a parade and service provided it doesn't equate to hours of standing still in a hot sun all day long. Left alone they might even do cursory research to see what it's all about. Problem is those goddammned phones (and other portable entertainment devices). They're naturally going to pay attention to faster moving things and falling into the social pressure trap that all their friends are doing it - playing on social media. The above is a 100% correct and direct observation. I see it happen at services all the time. As far as the NES mini being released on that date? I don't think it matters one iota. I don't see any connection. And I believe the date was arbitrary. The NES mini isn't that big of a product anyways.

Now I'm even more confused.

Can't imagine Nintendo going through all the trouble they did (or didn't) for a single season product. Should be available for a couple of years.

Yup. I don't get into paying a premium in either dollars or time to acquire new tech on day one. When it comes out it comes out.
