  1. Trump has resonated with rural America better than anyone expected!

I too am relieved. The thought that Hillary Clinton and the shady people around her could be rewarded with the White House was just abhorrent to me.

  3. No I didn't, not for certain anyways. I may have heard about it but it was in one ear and out the other. That's too bad. But not unexpected. Most all companies would do away with any form of manufacturing if possible. They see it as a liability even if it isn't.
  4. That pot looks nasty, at least it should be ohm'd out.
  5. As far as "recycling" old hardware and displays into new consoles and modern displays goes, it's one big circle. I never recycle anything unless I get paid directly for my efforts. Doesn't have to be a lot, but it does have to happen. Emulation helps cut down on the materials consumed, and when it comes time to replace the master hardware it I just chuck it curbside.
  6. Green Cheetos! Yup.. Anything any corporation calls "eco" is just a revenue stream. Helping the planet is last on the list, if it's there at all.
  7. Never said it was a Nintendo branded adapter. Just an adapter. It's like you don't buy Apple furniture (cause they don't make it) for your Apple computer.
  8. Crap mame cabs with crap pc monitors are indeed crap! Of that there is no need for discussion. OK, I didn't think there'd be any vids before release date. But, hey, I don't know everything.. Now, as someone who has been involved with emulation since before mame, I can say that my own rig looks a hell of a lot better than what I just saw. But that's on youtube. With youtube's compression artifacts.
  9. Emulators sucked in 1997. Of that there is little doubt. But they were in their infancy and we were slap happy to even have them. Today's emulators are so much better. Of all the speculation of how this will look.. Why not turn to youtube? Or is it that nonsense NDA stuff. Building suspense and all that?
  10. I can't say with any level of authority, but I would guess a lot have conventional AV connectivity. Nintendo is very cost-conscious and even, dare-I-say, forward thinking in choosing HDMI only.
  11. Can someone post a pic of Video Pinball running on a modded machine?
  12. How many people going to dollar general or wal-mart buying this on a whim or as a cutesy-wootsy stocking stuffer are going to know WTF a 15kHz CRT is? .001% maybe? How many people are going to know what HDMI is? 99.999%! Again this is not a museum reference piece, nor is it a serious replacement for hobbyist setups. This is a very casual party favor and auxiliary gift type thing.
  13. Maybe there needs to be a sticky thread on Display Technologies. This topic flares up from time to time. And it's only going to happen more and more frequently I fear.
  14. Over time bio-memory of original games tends to eliminate the fuzzies and CRT distortions and all the annoying things about how we gamed back in the 70's and 80's. And what remains is a sharp square object - whatever it may be. Real hardware + CRT + back in the day + nostalgia goggles ..is the same as.. Modern day emulation or recreation + modern day display + optional CRT effects + high reliability and convenience. And that's a practical philosophy I can get behind.
  15. I'll take that for the win! While at present it may not resemble a CRT or be like 100% back in the day, it's permanent and non-degrading. How it looks today is how it will look tomorrow. Can't say that about analog hardware - over the years it ages and falls out of tolerance. Additionally the potential is there to make it look like BITD. Ever see a videoclip of a CRT in action on a modern display? Looks pretty accurate. It's all in the source.
  16. So essentially, because the NES-mini doesn't come with a CRT included, we're only getting 1/2 the experience? Hogwash! We're getting a better experience.
  17. Palletizing and digitizing and pixellating the Mona Lisa does wonders for it! I never liked that painting no matter how renowned it is.
  18. Heh. Of course. Anyone that pays that much through ebay scalping deserves to get taken for a ride. On fleabay, preorders are going for $249. I guess that means for 249 you win the right, through the seller, to get in on a pre-order ?? Glad to have been part of the old days. It was real fun piling into the old Chevy and rickety-racketing down the road to TurnStyle or Venture to see what new games might be out. It was an adventure discovering this stuff by running around the store and actually exploring and looking! And today we should be doing the same thing, with the added option of buying on-line from a place that actually has it in stock ready to go on the truck when they process your card number. None of this hokey pre-order, limited edition shit. Look, if Nintendo wants to make a sale and wants you to have this in your home, they *WILL* make it available for purchase.
  19. I wanna get more anal about it. ROMS *are* the computer's protected & fixed store. A recording of the computer's memory would be a backup, or snapshot or hibernation file.
  20. The long definition of lag. Wasn't this supposed to be at $60, give or take a buck?
  21. washing machine designed by a kid! Haahaha!

I once made a washing machine using a bucket and a (clean!) plunger. It worked like churning butter, but rinsing was a pain.
