It's hard to tell who's to blame with defrag utilities. Most use fully legit system calls to move blocks. About as safe as you can get. The trouble lies with M$ not sharing exactly how NTFS works with 3rd parties. There could have been some corruption before defrag that wasn't/cound not of been unknown about. The defrag was just the last straw (and not the cause).

There's something appealing about the cheesiness of 70's disaster movies. I watched Rollercoaster a few weeks ago. Terrible film, but I enjoyed basking in its badness.
