  1. I'm definitely in the "not bored at all" camp! There is so much out there to explore - old computer mags on archive.org and Google Books, hardware videos from Phil's Computer Lab, and a zillion BBS's worth of treasures to mine on cd.textfiles.com. Not to mention retro forums like this one. Lately I've found that tinkering with Dosbox settings is almost as much fun as playing the games, at least for a mad scientist type like me. For the longest time I couldn't get Paintbrush to work in Windows 3.1. When I replaced the S3 drivers with an older version and was finally able to draw the word "FART," what a breath of fresh air it was!
  2. I see our friend Clint has already found this: a sales training video for the Sensation, starring Mike and Mike. Note the aroma of old late-night infomercials... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZIF2mw6fK4 Classic quote at 10:45: "Now look, how can I get a text message over a telephone?" By the way, almost a year later, my old Athlon XP machine is STILL essentially a Sensation emulator, with an old 15-inch 4x3 monitor, and Dosbox set at roughly 486/25 speed. Three cheers for Jill of the Jungle. I do want to correct one mistake I made in my original post: the original Tandy palette card is indeed capable of 16 million colors, if upgraded to 1MB VRAM. It's basically a Diamond Speedstar with a Western Digital chip, one of the few ISA cards capable of that color depth. But it really taxes the RAM, if my Dosbox escapades are any measure of reality. Caesars Palace for Windows, which only needs 4MB RAM in 256 colors, requires 12MB when using true color. Ouch.
  3. Just watched this again and noticed the fine print...that VGA color monitor is .52 dot pitch. OUCH. My eyes hurt already. Those "hundreds of dollars" you saved will go towards an appointment with the ophthalmologist.
  4. Similar to Soulblazer, I've been given the ol' "time's up" at a department store. In my case though, my parents actually worked at the store and I came with them every Saturday, so the guys working the computer department knew I would pop up somewhere along the line to play on the C64 (usually Little Computer People or a trivia game). They more or less tolerated me until they had to show the merchandise off to an actual paying customer. At that point they'd say "Ok kid, out" and I'd go do something else, like try and find books with dirty pictures in them. Their generous policy paid off in spades; my parents eventually bought me a C64, and I ended up buying both of those games and many others.
  5. Oh and XYBOTS, how could I forget! There are only a few tunes but they're all awesome. Level 3 is my favorite (thank you Laird's Lair for posting these!)
  6. Love the music in Double Dragon...I just wish it weren't so darned expensive! Electrocop is another great one, and fun to play on piano too. I second Malibu Volleyball, you can even change the songs on the "CD player" to your liking: Bill & Ted has some awesome stuff throughout, including a touch of Bach:
  7. SD brings back memories to my old dorm days, but I have really struggled with the difficulty. I always have to get the money bags one at a time, save up 10 to buy a shield, then rinse/lather/repeat to stock up. I think platform-challenged folks like me have to stick to emulation and save states :/ I heard there are some screens with $5 money bags plus a secret passage, so you can keep alternating between the two and get a ton of cash. Anyone know where those screens are?
  8. Who designs Tandy PC's? You do! Really liked this video - doesn't take away from my forever love (the Sensation) but very well done. If it were still those days and I had the cash, I would totally consider buying a computer from RS after watching this. No disrespect intended, the man interviewed is a dead ringer for Ned Flanders, right down to the mild southern accent and left-handedness. There's even a bleeping-out of a dirty word (probably "Dell")
